Terps WR Torrey Smith named to Biletnikoff Award watch list

Maryland junior Torrey Smith is one of 51 players named to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation's top wide receiver.

Smith, a preseason all-ACC selection at both wide receiver and kick returner, set the ACC single-season record for kickoff return yards in each of the past two seasons. He had 61 catches for 824 yards and five touchdowns last season.

Smith also ranks first in Maryland history and third in ACC history in career kickoff return yards (2,398), ranks fifth on the Maryland career all-purpose yards list (3,617), is tied for 16th on the Terrapins' career receptions list (85) and is 20th in career receiving yards (1,160). His three kickoff returns for a touchdown is tops in Maryland history.

Semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 15, finalists on Nov. 22 and the winner on Dec. 9.
