Maryland quarterback question: Danny O'Brien vs. Sam Hollenbach

By Eric Prisbell

We’ve got to do a re-vote on this quarterback question from earlier in the week because it was 47 percent to 47 percent. The last few precincts have yet to report (Montgomery and NW Howard County) but I have increasing concerns about voter fraud and malfunctioning voting machines. There have been five write-in votes for Clay Belton, two for Josh Portis and one for Patrick Stevens, which I find distressing. I’m too old to count ballots, so we’re eliminating Chris Turner from the question (he received only 4 percent) and re-opening the poll.

If you had one game to win, which quarterback would you start:

A senior Sam Hollenbach from 2006.(61.7 completion percentage, 15 TD, 11 INT)
A redshirt freshman Danny O’Brien from 2010. (53.3 completion percentage, 14 TD, 4 INT)

(Don’t answer based on how good you think Danny will be. Answer based on who’d you want to start one game today.)

Agreed. Two of the three posts today have been totally irrelevant involving idiotic poll questions. Let's do some scouting of UVA, and what it will take for the Terps to leave Charlottesville with a W.

Sounds like Prisbell is trying desperately to manufacture something relevant about UMD football...obviously not much else to write about concerning Terp football....oh yeah, how about us going to the Orange Bowl! If the top teams in the conference somehow manage to lose enough games that Fridge gets to the Orange Bowl, you will see an embarrassment of biblical proportions....Lets not forget that this team has played 3 quality opponents so far this year, lost all 3 and was blown into the weeds by 2 of them, including the 4th place team in the vaunted Big East....yeah, that was the game that we werent prepared for the crowd noise, rushed for MINUS 10 yds in the game and gave up 400Yds of offense in the first half...um fear the turtle? yeah, everyones running

What Terp"fan"MA/Brooks is saying is that he would be unhappy with this team unless we were 9-0 right now. Yeah, real big "fan" this guy is. He doesn't go to games, doesn't support the team (EVEN WHEN THEY ARE WINNING!), doesn't give a penny to the program, and bashes our head coach and players every chance he gets.

Serious question: If you can't enjoy being in a position where you control your own destiny in your conference in mid-November, then what is the point of even being a fan? If being in this position isn't fun at all for you and our team bothers you so much, why even pretend you are a fan?

TerpFanMA needs to up the dosage on his Prozac. Anyway, a more relevant question would be this: if the Terps won the rest of their games this season and made it to the ACC Championship, should RF be voted ACC Coach of the Year for the best turn-around of any team in the conference? Answer: if that happened, than an emphatic yes! To go from 2-10 to title contenders in one season is an amazing feat for anyone and deserves some credit. Plus, I know Barno is saving up for all past posts of those (petecard, TerpFanMA, Poopy, etc) who have called for RF's firing. Let the carnage begin!

What a pointless question! One might have an informed opinion had one coached both players, but that ain't the case with any of us fans. Ralph Friedgen would have the best opinion, and he isn't gonna talk.

For my money, the best Terp quarterback ever was Jack Scarbath. His coach, Jim Tatum, has gone to his reward.

Barny, what you dont get is there is a difference between being a good team and winning....If Fridge dropped WVU, Clemson, and Miami from the sched and replaced them with Mont Comm College, Townson and DeMatha, we would be 9-0 but still wouldnt be very good....I stand on my previous point..Fridge has had 3 chances this year to demonstrate that the Terps are a good team and he has come up very short each time...end of story...you cant comprehend this so why do you waste your time....and you demonstrate your immaturity by making silly assumptions about how many games people go to, money they contribute etc etc as if it means anything at all...

And by the way, my vote is for Bobby Ross as coach and Boomer Esiason or Frank Reich as QB

Once again TerpfanMA nails it and Barno is reduced to his carping about what a "real" Terp fan is. What if we had won one of the games against good teams, just one, even if that team was Miami? I think many of us would say the team is getting better. Barno is probably having a hissy fit because he thinks that Prisbell should have simply asked him who would be the better choice at QB.

Scarbath was the last Terp QB to beat Penn State. DOB is mentally ahead of every Terp QB I've seen at his age, including Boomer. Can't believe the Border War isn't on TV today. Looking at you CSN and MASN... showing rerun 30 minute shows and b-ball: NFU/Pitt... Boooooooooooo! Please play 60 minutes of winning ball today Boys!

My pops wants to know if there's any way to watch the game if you get your Internet through DirectTV? You can't watch it on espn3.com unless you use one of their preferred internet subscribers like Verizon. Is there anywhere else for people to watch, maybe one of those online sites that Hugh has pointed out recently?

realness, thanks. That works for my computer but I have Fios. But it's not working for them, assuming since they have DirectTV's Hughsnet internet.

Normally I lurk and move on, but I just have to comment after this latest blog post. Really WaPo, what's the point of this blog? I mean these polls are fine as filler, but how about some news or scouting or something relevant? Is this the best you can do two games into the basketball season with an important Virginia game coming up in football? Hey, it's called the Terrapins Insider. Don't you have any behind the scenes info on recruiting or perhaps our other non-revenue sports teams? Do you know anything that's going on at the school? Is this blog even necessary? I live in Denver and could do a better job than this. Pathetic.
