As this season totally unraveled he made one stupid prediction after another and it's as if id didn't happen.

Feb 2nd, 2011. Our key game of the year. Two freshman PG's, adominant sophomore big man and a smothering defense hand Duke it's second straight loss and catapult the Terps into the national spotlight. Terps go on to a 4/5 seed and make the Sweet 16 for the first time in 8 years. They may even go a little deeper. Look to the future boys...

I move that Petecard, from this day forward be referred to as "Flip Flopper"

Personally I don't care at all if he predicts we're going to win a game or lose a game, or if he predicts we're going to miss the tournament or make the tournament or go to the sweet 16--or even if he changes his mind over and over throughout the course of the season. I don't care about any of that. What i care about is Petecard accusing others of making stupid predictions and pretending they didn't when that is exactly what he has done over and over again on this blog throughout the course of the last 3 seasons.

He said we'd lose to Gtech on the road and no one called him out on it. I thought we'd beat Miami--and yet he keeps feeling the need to rub that prediction in my face. And we BOTH thought we'd make the tournament, tho I can't recall ever saying we'd go on to a 4/5 seed and make the sweet 16 and maybe even go a little

Cant we all just get along???? :) haha

Come on, its the biggest game of the year, lets all just focus on the kids playing and hope they can step up for the upset, so we can still keep the NCAA dream alive.

Forget the NIT, we are going to the NCAA's!!!!!

Early foul trouble for the Dukie Bigs, Dino nailing 10-15 ftrs all night, Jordan grabbing every rebound in sight, Stog shake and baking every Dukie in sight, Tucker nailing 3's, and Mosley...ok lets just leave it while we are ahead :)

Go Terps...was it over when the Germans bomber pearl harbor?????

Hoping for a miracle tonight. But question is, if we win tonight, do we have to win 2 more to get in the tourney? Probably, but still curious what others think.

Gotta love CM88s sarcastic anti Maryland comments! Last week he ripped Gary for being too intense on the he calls him lazy...which is it CM88?

At least I respect Pete's opinion even though I disagree with it....but this CM88 character is a real tool.....hates on Gary for 20 years and then uses a bunch of silly stories to claim he should be fired!

Kendall Marshall was NEVER interested in UMD despite his dad saying he would "consider" it.....why would he go on a tour you ask? Why not, daddy probably expected another golf cart tour and a nice steak dinner....Your blind hatred of Gary is truly staggering and it has warped you into actually rooting against UMD......knowing that you will be miserable thru 2013 does make the rest of us happy though

I havent heard from your sales rep yet...I told you I would "strongly consider" your product.....

Edsall got two four-star recruits to vebal. An OL (Madaras) and a DE (Braglio). Not a bad start.

TerpfanMA, I was trying to move on, but you obviously have some type of crush on me now too, scary. Sorry, I am not a 66 year old man, so I am not your type.

Let me explain for the retard you are..Gary, curses and treats his players like shiet on the the court he is too lazy to get off his butt to go recruit. Ok, now you can start spinning and making up stuff again,,,duuuhhhhhhh!!!

Fine, I was wrong on Kendell Marshall, now explain away all the other ones? Still a ton of class by Gary to not even meet with a kid that comes in for a visit. But I guess class doesnt matter, Gary can treat everyone like shiet..awesome!

Now back to my serious comments,,,Go Terps, I really hope the kids step it up tonight, would be great to kick the pukies out of the tourn!!!

H1Dyn...yeah I think we need to win or atleast get to the finals. Duke would be a huge win, but I think we would need another win over a ranked team. The bubble is already thin now with all the upsets in the conf tourns.

Posted by: cm88 | March 11, 2011 3:30 PM | Report abuse

CM88...yeah, you were wrong about Marshall and everything else you rant about without knowing the facts..Gary loves his players and they love playing for him...he has coached and developed over 100 here at UMD...what do you have? A anecdotal comment from 1 that didnt like him???? You call him lazy because he doesnt recruit the players you think he should (as if you know anything at all!..your stupid little rant / cut/paste about Marshall shows you clearly dont)....guess what genius? UMD isnt for everyone and not every player would fit into Garys style....he recruits who he wants....last time I checked, UMD has exactly 1 Mens BBall Championship in the 110 years of the school and Gary got it...on the other hand, there is you...who admitted that your grades werent good enough to get into UMD...never coached or recruited a single college yeah, count us a little skeptical of your silly musings about Gary Williams

Posted by: TerpfanMA | March 11, 2011 3:52 PM | Report abuse

TerpfanMA the reason why the anti Gary crowd goes nuts is the FOGs like you and Barno are in complete denial about absolute facts. There have been many article and stories over the years about Gary's dislike and disinterest into really getting out and working the recruiting trail, building a network etc. Now you can admit that and still say he can be a good coach and you're ok with missing 4 times in 7 years and squeaking in 2 of the 3 makes, but saying Gary is a good recuiter who works hard at it is laughable at face value. In fact a good buddy of mine went to BC and we talked about this last year that there are still bad feelings towards Gary that he won at BC with the previous coaches players and left the cupboard bare when he left for Ohio State.

Posted by: restonhoops | March 11, 2011 4:06 PM | Report abuse

I am not denying any facts, but I am also not buying into a bunch of hearsay by friends at BC or sports columnists who are trying to sell subscriptions...

To listen to the way you describe it, he has never been a recruiter going back to BC days...but then you conveniently omit 30 years of coaching history to focus on 3 or 4 out of the last 7 years...If you are going to complain about his recruiting then at least be honest enough to evaluate his record over his UMD that amounts to :
1 NC
Multiple Sweet 16s
Multiple Final 4s
#5 nationally in wins
#6 nationally in 20 win seasons
#2 nationally in victories over #1 teams

How do you do that if you dont recruit or coach?

Not denying that this has been a down question, but a more realistic explanation is that we lost 65% of scoring from last years team and there have been several players on the team that have not developed as dont go firing a coach with his record unless you are CM88 and just hate him as a person

Posted by: TerpfanMA | March 11, 2011 4:29 PM | Report abuse

Reston, the guy is blind, guys like him dont see a pattern of 4 NITs in 8 years as a bad thing,,remember what we did 10 years ago mentality. They see GV and Jordan as great examples of Garys recruiting, not all the misses/transers and the guys that didnt even get a call that are/where local studs.

End of the day, we are haters that want more, they are lovers that are ok with the past 8 years, not just this year.

Its a downward trend and Garylovers dont care, because they love Gary more than the program.

Not a rant or make believe, just the truth.

Sorry you see all the articles/coaches/players that same the same thing and that we have proven multiple times in these dumb debates.

Yes Gary did a great job at helping to get us back on track, he has great stats, especially with wins/20win seasons with all the Sisters of St Marys we play, great job with upsets over #1 teams, but all that has gotten us is 4 NIT's in 8 years.

Off to sit in traffic, have fun blasting away and calling me a duke fan :)

the truth? facts? You cant be serious 88...almost everything you spout about on here is opinion and fact, up until about 2 hours you were probably telling everyone that the reason Marshall went to UNC is because Gary didnt want him....what a buffoon you are....and all your other nonsense about abusing players and being lazy...its all in your fact, its probably the only thing in your head.....

last season was pretty successful with 13 ACC wins and a near sweet 16 appearance

we had a tough season this year with a bunch of new players and still managed 19 wins...not great, perhaps not even good, but not a disaster either

you just cant get over your hate for gary ...20 years is a loooooong time and you will have a couple more years of bitterness in front of you
