Talkin' Terps: Redux of the 2004 ACC tournament?

By Matt Bonesteel

Good afternoon.

In 2004, a young Maryland team most likely had sewn up an NCAA tournament berth entering the ACC tournament even with a 7-9 conference record and a midseason swoon that saw it lose eight of 12 games. The Terrapins entered the tournament ranked 29th in the RPI, with four wins over teams ranked in the RPI top 25.

But just to be sure, the sixth-seeded Terrapins defeated No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 2 North Carolina State (erasing a 19-point halftime deficit) and No. 1 Duke (in which Maryland both gave up an 11-point lead and overcame a late 12-point deficit) to win the ACC title and earn the automatic bid.

Today's question, following last night's win over 10th-seeded N.C. State and entering tonight's game against second-seeded Duke: Can Maryland accomplish the feat again, this time by winning four games in the ACC tournament?

Is Obama moving to the center? No chance.

One game at a time. Today, Duke.

Sure they can, it is just very unlikely. I'd give it a 2% chance at this point.

Is John "Tear in his eye" Boehner moving to the center? You bet your sweet bippy he is.

Maryland is gonna win 9 more games befor the season ends and in doing so will win the NCAA Tourney.

We're gonna shock the world, baby!!!!!!!!

I have drunken the red kool-aid and am a fully converted member now in the FOG.

When, and if, I ever decide to have a child I'm gonna name him Gary Williams _______.

Gary, I love you and can't wait for you to prove the HOG's wrong by winning the ACC and NCAA Tourney's.

It all starts tonight with, at a minimuman a 20+ point beat down Duke. Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!

Edsall Gets Verbal From 2012 Recruit 4 Star OL Mike Madaras From Good Counsel

Great start from the new head Coach. You read it right—4Star. 6’6 280 and runs a 4.8 40. He is in the 11th grade.

Take a gander at his offer list: some of the most prominent schools are Georgia Tech, Michigan, Mississippi State, Pitt, South Carolina, Stanford, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Pretty impressive sheet right there.

The Terps received their 2nd verbal commitment for the 2012 class when McDonough DE Roman Braglio pledged to the Terps last night. At 6'4" and 235, Braglio is a solid 3-4 star DE who also had an offer from West Virginia. While they hadn't officially offered yet, Braglio also had interest from several big name football programs including Penn State, Tennessee and Pitt.

Poopy, what do you have in that Kool-aid?

So Drulz is on his way to see the game in person. If you happen to be at the game, look for a balding old guy who still gets acne. Oh wait, look for a group of them because they all look the same - some less scarred than others. cm88 caused him to break his phone which was entertaining enough and although I disagree with him on many of his opinions, he remains more than welcome on the board in my book. Besides, petecard has been kinder and gentler of late so the animosity and sniping would have been less frequent.

Now I have to look at that miserable orc Nolan Smith who can use his beak as a can opener. Hopefully it will be with tears streaming down his face as he commits turnover after turnover after missing 13 of 15 shots. Now I don't hate Duke as much as most of you - the Wahoos are the worst evil on the planet and UNC is slightly more despicable than Duke - but NOLAN SMITH is the most irritating Dukie ever. I know you white guys and essentially white guys hate Redick and such but this guy has moved past Laettner in my book as the most detestable Duke player ever. One of you couch burning current students better seek his momma out and aquafina her head.

ok. I've calmed down a bit.

Regards -

Funny Huge... I'll be getting on the outside of a bone-in ribeye at the Palm while the Terps are playing. I know what's going to happen so I won't be missing much. Guess we will just have to wait a little longer to see what our NIT seeding will be. Is that why they call it "selection Sunday?"

not if they play the way they did last night which i guess is pretty much the way they played all season.
