A fixer-upper with charm: D.C.'s blogs

This post has been updated and corrected.

Good afternoon. Yes, there's a chill in the air, but I'm assured by The Capital Weather Gang that we're in for a warm up Wednesday and the rest of the week. Today we've got a fun assortment -- a real estate deal on a most unusual property as well as the skinny on the candidates to become the next school's chief in Montgomery County. Read on.

In the market for a fixer-upper with unique charm? Check out this baby from Silver Spring Singular - a three-bedroom, two-bath pagoda in Silver Spring. Yes, a pagoda. And it can be yours for $375,000!

Sweating the Big Stuff on why it's important to teach your kids financial responsibility before you send them off to college with a credit card.

From Rants and Ramblings: If raw fish isn't your thing, here's a kit to make candy sushi. It's cool to watch -you can make maguro and ikura - but taste-wise, I don't know.

Apologies. The list is actually for candidates for the superintendency in Ann Arbor -- looks like I need to slow down and read more carefully. Sorry for the mistake. The Parents Coalition of Montgomery County, Maryland blog has a list of candidates under consideration to replace school superintendent Jerry Weast, who's retiring at the end of the school year.

A happy third blogiversary to The Bitten Word - one of my very favorite D.C.-area food blogs. Mouthwatering recipes, great photography and wonderful personality.

From D.C. Ladies - suggestions for activities (indoor and outdoor) to help get you through this last stretch of winter in D.C. Though, we have to be honest before we start whining - we've had it pretty easy compared to last year.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of the day. I'll be back tomorrow with more fun posts from the D.C.-area blogosphere.
