Reactions to Michelle Rhee: Will her resume affect her future?

By Katie Rogers

Former D.C. schools chancellor Michelle Rhee may be far from Washington now, but a new debate over whether or not she exaggerated past progress as a schoolteacher freshened memories of her departure last October.

The story: On Jan. 31, former D.C. math teacher Guy Brandenburg posted a blog entry contending that a study including test scores from the Baltimore school where Rhee taught from 1992 to 1995 turns back data that show Rhee "lied repeatedly" in an effort to make gains in her class look more impressive than they were.

Rhee, in a response to the Post's Nick Anderson Wednesday evening, said she'd revise the wording if she could:

"If I were to put my resume forward again, would I say 'significant' gains Absolutely."

How will this story affect Rhee's future?

How have recent events changed your perception of Rhee? How will this affect the role of her successor, interim chancellor Kaya Henderson? Tell us on Twitter using #Rhee. You can also take our polls, read more content or add your own comments here:

  • From Post commenter georgia198305: "Teaching to the test is ok if the test is a good one. It is not ok to say the students scored one way when they really scored another way."
  • From Post commenter goodnight: "Surprise, surprise, surprise. I wonder how many other schools and ignorant mayors she has duped over the years with her "brand" of education, and what else is a fabrication on her resume. Mmmmmm."
  • From commenter ftbindc : "In case you haven't noticed! She's gone...you were successful in driving her out...So this isn't news! Congratulations...you get to rehire your incompetent teachers and return to school system to the rundown, pathetic, national embarassment that they were before she came along and attempted to fix the mess. The DC public schools aren't qualified to train a dog...and apparently that's the way you lemmings like it."

@ftbindc - You make no sense at all. I say good riddance. Everyone with any sense knew she was lying. The only people she's really hurting are the children. She let go some very good teachers so I don't know what the hell you're talking about. You probably don't even live here or have children attending DC Public schools. You actually sound like a teabagger and that's not a complement. Get it?

If indicted, her only defense would be that America has no extradition treaty with the District.

But she would have to say it.

It would seem the Rhee story was always bogus. Just the product of relentless mythologizing by the Post and fellow edu-profiteers.

Seems hardly a word written in the Post about Rhee was true: The great test scores (false, allegedly). Her qualifications (zero as it turned out -- couldn't qualify to be a substautuet teacher in Newark). The 100s of job offers that were surely to come from school systems and think tanks after Rhee was fire-, er, resigned (none). "Marriage" to KJ (not).

But you're right, though, why beat a dead horse? Just be Rhee-lieved she is gone from D.C. Now turn your attention to the removal of Henderson and other 1000 Rhee-bot stay-behinds in the D.C. system.

As a Floridian, I believe a casting error was made when they draped this woman with Superman's cape. Perhaps it was the bee-eating that they saw as her X factor. It could not have been the taping of mouths,
powers of investigation as seen by firng teachers gefore finding budget surplus, or adherence to termination procedures. Surely, there were numerous others hwo have valiantly fought for students against
great odds and even had more than a few weeks background in education. How did she climb the ladder to superstar? Was it really the billionaire boy company she kept? Has her 15 seconds of fame seen its end? Will her cape aid her fall from grace?
Superman is not real and all is not as it seems.

Inflating and exaggerating past accomplishments is resume fraud. Rhee is a narcissistic self-promoter with a fraudulent resume.

Excuse me?

She didn't just 'exaggerate' past progress!
She made up numbers that NEVER EXISTED!

Such behaviors would be the death or the end of almost any careers. Why do we let Michelle Rhee get away with lying and say she 'exaggerated'??? Give me a break!!

Will eyes wide open members of the general public please become aware of Michelle Rhee's burgeoning & awesome HYPOCRISY ?!!
Her hucksterism and apparent sloganeering is.....
"Students First", but, but ... HER DAUGHTERS LAST !

Look at her overall pattern of: SELF-CENTERED, SELF-SERVING (NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER), DELUSIONAL MISCONDUCT, SLUTTY-SLEAZY, ABHORRENT BEHAVIORAL CHOICES, & SOCIOPATHIC UTTER NEGLECT of her two young daughters !

Definitely research her bizarre history with faux-fiance (serial molester of several H.S. students & teenage Americorps staff) Kevin Johnson and investigate Rhee's direct involvement with Johnson's Sacramento Charter School corrupt cover-ups of sexcapades, financial malfeasance & misuse of govt. funds.

It is obvious when examining Rhee's pattern of irresponsible, warped & selfish misconduct (including forcibly uprooting family members), that her ex-husband is now mainly the custodial parent providing consistent care & nurturing concern for
the well-being of their daughters and he is the only
mature & responsible adult in that family !

MICHELLE RHEE FIRST.....
Children, Community stakeholders, & especially the needs of
her own daughters
come LAST !

Investigate this!
Rhee-form, edu-profiteers & sleazy, corrupt, HYPOCRISY

What was helicopter-in
Michelle Rhee’s ‘DAMAGE CONTROL’
for (boyfriend) Kevin Johnson?
note:
Michelle Rhee was on the
Sacramento school's board of directors
(and was "operations manager"/consultant)
of Kevin Johnson's privatized High School charter
--- during the time when
there were financial illegalities
& misappropriations of
($850,000) federal grants
and also a pattern
of outlandish sexual misconduct
perpetrated by school director
Kevin Johnson involving students (minor teens)
& subordinate (Americorps) school staff ---
as documented by
U.S. Govt. Inspector General
Gerald Walpin.
