You can be a blogger: D.C.'s blogs

Good afternoon. After last week's heatwave, Tuesday's snow was a definitely damper. We'll be in for more cold weather this week -- just a remind that it IS still February. But no worries: spring and warmer temperatures are around the corner (cross fingers!) Today we've got some tips on how to organize all the receipts that clutter your purse and pockets as well as a quick video on how you can help women and children in need.

The Georgetown Dish reports that yard signs opposing Georgetown University's campus expansion plans were burned on the front steps of a home in the Burleith neighborhood. D.C. Police said the incident happened between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.

In honor of National Snack Food month - Endless Simmer takes a tour of the Herr's Potato Chip factory in Nottingham, Penn.

If you're anything like me, you've probably got dozens of old receipts stuffed in your coat pocket or purse. I don't know why, but I always feel compelled to keep them. To help you (and me) clear out those pockets, Sweating the Big Stuff offers these tips on which receipts to keep and which ones to toss.

Got a minute? Beyond the Doorway offers this quick video on how you can make a difference in the lives of women and children leaving abusive situations. Small investment, big payoff.

Inspired by what you read in this daily roundup from the D.C.-area blogosphere? Want to try blogging yourself? Cupcakes and Shoes offers some tips for the would-be blogger.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of the afternoon. Try and stay warm -- looks like we'll get a break from snow on Wednesday, but it will still be cold.

"You can be a blogger[!]"

Been there, done that.

Had a "local" neighborhood blog but it was too niche and my writing style is definitely an "acquired taste," at best: a tad too acerbic, annoyingly diffuse/abstruse, a little tetchy, slightly subversive (without the authoritative "coolness" factor).

It was kind of fun, though, I gotta admit.

Also, perusing lots of other really cr@ppy blogs makes me think I should get "back in the game," so to speak. *cackling evilly*
