Streaming the Competitive Spirit

Van Cliburn, before the competition (Alfred Eisenstaedt)

'Tis the season of competitions. The Queen Elisabeth Competition - this year, for violin - is heading into its final round on Monday. And the thirteenth Cliburn Competition, held every four years, which retains its mystique if not all of its luster, is starting today in Fort Worth, Texas.

And you can watch the whole thing on line from the comfort of your computer screen. Both competitions are streaming their performances live. The Cliburn starts today; the Queen Elisabeth performances will start Monday night (Monday afternoon if you're Stateside).
