Piano Wars

For your viewing pleasure, the first movement of what has to be one of the most in-your-face performances of the Tchaikovsky first piano concerto ever made, in which for much of the time George Szell and Vladimir Horowitz appear to be engaged in single combat.

(This recommendation comes courtesy of frequent flier Leon Fleisher. Mr. Fleisher will also be responsible for slightly sparser blog postings here over the next few weeks as he and I focus on finishing up the manuscript of his forthcoming book, which will be published in December, 2010.)
