Celebrating JFK at the KenCen

By Anne Midgette

In today's Washington Post: Kennedy Center opens JFK commemoration with distinguished crowd, by Anne Midgette.

An alternate title could be: What do you get when you mix Obama, the NSO and Paul Simon? I don't know, but it was at the Kennedy Center last night.

I'm disappointed that you did not review the BSO's Strathmore concert on Friday evening. The Shostakovich 5th was very good, and Marin Alsop's comments before the performance were enligtening, though less so than Mike Thomas's "keeping Score" DVD.

Unfortunately, we don't have space and personnel to review every worthy concert. You can look at it as a glass-half-full situation: it's a good thing for the city that there are more concerts than we can write about. I did recently review the BSO and their new co-commission by Philip Glass.
