Link: Opera and acting
In Sunday's Washington Post:
Sure, they can sing, but can they act? by Anne Midgette.
Or, yet another episode in my ongoing campaign to raise awareness of the lamentable fact that opera is generally held to a lower dramatic standard than other forms of acting.

More than 50 years past, I read a comment about operatic acting by either Lotte Lehmann or Maria Menighini Callas that has always stayed with me:
Acting is not action and action is not acting! I see singer jumping around on the stage, rolling on the floor, etc as if they were acting. No, it just a silly picture to me!
