Which is the best unbeaten team: Syracuse, Kansas, Ohio State, San Diego State?

By Eric Prisbell

We're down to four undefeated teams: Syracuse, Kansas, Ohio State and San Diego State.

Based on watching the teams, fans may feel one or two are stronger than the others. But when you break down the numbers, San Diego State certainly belongs in this group. The Aztecs have already won 10 games away from home. They have already beaten five top 25 RPI teams. (I'm not counting any games against non-Division 1 teams). The Mountain West is fairly strong this season -- the nation's fourth-ranked conference in terms of RPI -- but the other three teams are in the three strongest conferences in the country and they will have plenty of more opportunities against quality opponents.

That said, San Diego State will benefit from playing Brigham Young (fourth in the RPI) as many as three more times if they meet in the MWC tournament. So barring some stumbles against inferior opponents -- always possible in MWC road games --- San Diego State should be in the hunt for a No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. Can the Aztecs get a No. 1 seed? They'd have to get some breaks, such as Duke coming back to the pack more in ACC play and Pittsburgh stumbling in Big East play.

Which unbeaten has the strongest resume to date?

Wow - SDSU's resume is seriously impressive. 10-0 road/neutral?!! Great scheduling, great performance.
