NCAA tournament 2011: Two open at-large spots remain
Good morning, everyone. Today's the day the suspense finally ends. I'm in Las Vegas, and still on Vegas time. No matter where you are, we are less than eight hours away from getting our first look at the 2011 NCAA tournament bracket. My final bracket will be posted on the blog sometime during the Big Ten final after 4 p.m. I'll address the No. 1 seed issue after the ACC final today between Duke and North Carolina. Let's tackle the at-large issue right now. If you feel that Richmond, Colorado, Penn State, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Michigan State are all virtual locks, then you are left with two open at-large slots. Those two slots will be filled by two of the following teams:
St. Mary's
Virginia Commonwealth
Texas-El Paso
Alabama-Birmingham
Alabama
Georgia
Southern California
Boston College
If Dayton wins the Atlantic 10 championship today, then there is only one open slot left.
This is the difficult question. I have a sheet of paper filled with numbers and records and stats for all eight of these teams. Which two are the best teams?
With this poll, you can select two teams:
