1,000 Words: The Winners

On Friday we asked Fixistas to offer up their most creative caption to the photo above. We filed through the entries over the weekend and came up with a few of our favorites.

The winner?

It's "jrosco3" with this gem: "Speaker Pelosi flashes the first ever trillion dollar smile."

Well played sir.

Others we really enjoyed:

"(Sung)
Just keep smiling...
Just keep smiling...
Just keep smiling, smiling, smiling..."

"We're not really gloating. Honest. It would be unseemly, unprofessional, and unhelpful."

"Psst, Nancy, you're partisanship is showing!"
Posted by: codeker

"Yes, that's right Mr. Boehner, NONE of us read the bill. What's your point?"

Scrivener - It's less a concern for form rather than repetition. It is the equivalent to me of having the same commercial come up again and again when watching a favorite program. You eventually get sick of hearing about the Ford Fantasm. What you have to say is interesting, when you've posted on topic. I'd love to read more of that (though you'd be welcome to keep the tag line).

I wouldn't worry, though. The Post has a pretty open policy and so you can keep merrily posting. That much being said, I'll admit I'm amused by the parodies. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

How can it be that Republicans in Washington, especially in the House, can be so fundamentally out of touch with the nation?

My only possible explanation here is that House Republicans, particularly, now are such a minority in every region of the country other than the South that they have become marginalized. They are pretty much irrelevant to the political discussion. The House Republican Caucus has shrunk to the point that the districts by and large represented by Republicans are not at all reflective of the nation. They are the most conservative areas of the country. The South is probably more Republican now than ever, while the rest of the nation is less Republican than ever. They are clearly out of step.

"SCRIBBLER" MAKES LIGHT OF THE SILENT HOLOCAUST?

Scribbler50:

Thanks for your witty acknowledgment of an ugly, not-so-funny truth:

DOMESTIC TORTURE VIA RADIATION WEAPONRY...

...approved by the Bush Justice Department
for "use" on U.S. citizens who are "targeted" (but not charged) by "multi-agency actions" of various federal and local security/law enforcement agencies.

These "programs of personal destruction" are reportedly still ongoing, "scribbler."

And yes, the covert, silent irradiation of U.S. citizens most certainly will "tarnish" the Obama administration if it does not put a stop to this...

... and bring to justice those who devised these horrifc "programs" -- and those agents, officers, operatives and civilian vigilantes who are issuing the orders, pulling the triggers and pressing the buttons.

Does the infliction of pain and injury, and the induction of illness by silent, covert radiation weapons fire upon "innocent but targeted" U.S. citizens constitute DOMESTIC TORTURE?

What rational legal scholar could argue otherwise?

Does the irradiation of citizens with radiation weaponry -- described by the military as "slow kill" -- constitute ATTEMPTED MURDER -- ATTEMPTED MASS MURDER?

I leave that one for the courts to decide.

Scribbler, let's see who's joking when operatives with personal knowledge come forward.

This journalist, a victim, already has:

I don't know if Hank Paulson ever smiled during his tenure as Bush lackey, but if he did, his was the first trillion dollar smile.

VP BIDEN:
when local and federal authorities say there's nothing to investigate
WHAT ARE THEY HIDING? Could it be ENERGY WEAPONS aimed at Bucks County, AT ME, a long time published blogger who has cleverly insinuated himself into the MSM by posting warnings at the Washington Post, hourly?

MR. PRESIDENT and AG HOLDER: Are you NOT READING "The Fix"? If you do not carry through the investigation of GANG STALKING and the PSEUDO PUBLIC-PRIVATE targeting of TERRORIZED victims like MOI that I have asked for twenty times a day at Post BLOGS as well as at my own to which I provide CONVENIENT LINKS, will you become TARNISHED, like careworn SILVER? Will the wheels in my brain GRIND to a HALT?

Dear WP readers,
it's a much different story about how hard is the everyday life in the old Europe. Take a look at this:

captaingarage:

Don't you mean, "the mouse that ate the cat"?

Because in the end, that's the way these things work out. Remember the man who fled to the bunker.

FairlingtonBlade, bsimon1:

Your typical concern for form over substance is noted.

Obviously, my message will never get through to your ilk.

But you're not the intended audience.

When you're stranded on that deserted island, you just stuff your note in any bottle you can find and heave it into the current.

Many thanks to Chris, who may be a fellow journalist "target" and not know it yet.

I'll give scrivener credit. Vic actually did post a few attempted captions in the original contest before the obligatory trolling for blog hits.

BUT WILL IT REALLY MATTER? etc etc etc

scrivener- The Fix was asking for photo captions. Its a reference to the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words." You should not interpret this as a request for repetitive thousand word posts advertising your blog.

Here's a reality that's not so amusing...

TERRORIZED FOR FIVE YEARS IN PHILLY, PA SUBURBS

BY THE ONGOING BUSH-CHENEY 'EXTRAJUDICIAL PUNISHMENT' VIGILANTE NETWORK...

...EQUIPPED WITH SILENT, INJURY- AND ILLNESS-INDUCING RADIATION WEAPONRY 'APPROVED' BY THE BUSH JUSTICE DEPARTMENT.

...and local and federal authorities say there's nothing to investigate.

WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO HIDE?

AG HOLDER: Stop the domestic terror. Revive the Civil Rights Division and restore the rule of law in Bucks County, PA and throughout the nation...

END THE 'PROGRAMS OF PERSONAL DESTRUCTION' THAT WILL SOON TARNISH THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION.

The truth is... untold thousands of wrongly "targeted" and terrorized victims can't wait for the "Truth Commission."

Where's the Civil Rights Division investigation we've requested for TWO YEARS?

Talk to the good people inside the FBI... the ones who are ANGUISHED over these ONGOING human rights abuses... the ones who apparently have been silenced over the past eight years.
