We Read The Hillary Chat So You Don't Have To

By Ed O'Keefe

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton hosted a Web chat today with supporters on her still-functional campaign Web site.

Some excerpted highlights:

On her name being placed into nomination at the convention: "Senator Obama and I share the goal of ensuring that the voices of everyone who participated in this historic process are respected. I want to assure everyone we are working together with Senator Obama's campaign and the DNC, and I am confident we will have a successful and unified Convention in Denver."

On her support for Barack Obama: "I am completely committed to helping Senator Obama become the next President of the United States and urging all of you to do the same," she writes, adding later, "I am going to continue to do whatever I can to help Senator Obama and Democrats across the country win in the November."

About Obama's VP pick: "I have said repeatedly that I will do whatever Senator Obama asks me to do. I am really focused and enjoying being back in the Senate and working on behalf of my New York constituents. This is Senator Obama's decision and his alone and I am going to respect the privacy of that process by not discussing it."

About her plans for the next four years: Clinton says she plans to be "the best Senator I can be, and to go on fighting every day for the issues I care about." She adds that, "I look forward to working with President Obama."

Nothing terribly earth-shattering... agreed?

The conversation follows release of a YouTube clip during which the senator answers questions about what her pledged delegates should do at this month's Democratic National Convention. A joint statement from the Obama campaign and Clinton's press shop states that the two senators are working to "ensure that the voices of everyone who participated in this historic process are respected and our party will be fully unified heading into the November election."

Tomorrow Clinton campaigns for Obama in Nevada. Stay tuned.

Give it up for Hillary.

The major issue of the week has been the McCain people stating clearly that Obama has been playing the RACE CARD during this year's Campaigns - from the South Carolina primary onward to this summer when Obama keeps on attempting to charge that the Republicans are "going to make people afraid of him."

NOT that the Republicans have said or done anything racist yet, HOWEVER OBAMA KEEPS ON SAYING THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO BE RACISTS SOON.

Obama's campaign theme now is: YOU ARE A RACIST UNTIL YOU VOTE FOR OBAMA.

In response we post these Video Clips from all the major news FOX MSNBC CNN netwoks:

CLIPS OF OBAMA PLAYING THE RACE CARD THIS YEAR IN SOUTH CAROLINA: http://tinyurl.com/6gcstl

This is absolutely incredibly AMAZING.

This short Video clip includes THE LATE TIM RUSSERT OF NBC NEWS directly calling out Obama on Obama's Playing of the RACE CARD DURING OBAMA'S CAMPAIGNING IN SOUTH CAROLINA THIS YEAR in the Primary Campaign - in a Divisive and Extremely Shameful and Negative Manner.

Anonymous, may I join in your post. The Washington Post awhile ago had a piece about the extreme ugliness directed toward the Obama campaign, junk clearly encouraged (or at least not discouraged) by the HRC folks.

As for future HRC presidential runs, minority media report she has no AA support whatsover (the result of her playing the r-card and the RFK a-card against BO), something the mainstream media will not discuss. In fact, in Tennessee, an AA candidate running for a Congressional seat in a minority district, who was aggressively backed by HRC surrogate Stephanie Tubbs Jones, was destroyed by the incumbent, BO-backed Steve Cohen. Cohen won 80 percent of the vote...unheard of. Progressives also will not be won back by HRC. Again we hope Atlantic gives us more than the Broder world pablum and gets into the insider nitty-gritty, as ugly as I'm sure it is.

In the primary, nobody stole anything from anyone. BO ran the better campaign (HRC's folks didn't realize until it was too late that Democratic delegates were proportionally allocated rather than winner-take-all and had no strategy to campaign beyond Super Tuesday (because they viewed the race as a non-competitive coronation).) The deadenders' ongoing stubborn refusal to stand down and support the winner (BO), as all unsuccessful candidates have in recent memory, is bad faith in the extreme...Sad and ugly stuff

I feel terrible for Clintons and her supporters hurt feelings. Yea right, screw them. Obama has had a special secret service detail since he began to run. He has had death threats. His campaign offices have had numerous bomb threats. White workers have quit because of being threatened, they were afraid and were being called NI&&ER LOVERS; as they tried to work, His phone workers get "I will never vote for a ni&&er" and hang up. People with cars that have Obama stickers on them have been vandalized and many obama people (Including me) won't even put a sticker on their cars. No race has never been a part of this election. And you know the best part? Almost none of this has been made public at the request of Obama. The only people you hear whining are the Clintons.

--------
BO effectively stole the primary from HC despite the fact that HC could legitimately claim greater popular support. The manner in which she and her supporters were treated was abominable. They were essentially dissed by the BO campaign. HC has been a good and close working friend of John McCain and each of them has produced far more tangible and meaningful results in Gov. office than BO in a lifetime. Given John McCain's age it is highly likely that he will be a one term President. If he wins in Nov. HC and her supporters can honestly claim the right to say 'We told you so' to the rest of the Democratic party. That would leave a clear path to her running and winning in 2012. If Obama wins in Nov that scenario is effectively crushed. Given the already uniqueness of this election cycle it would prove to be the most wily and clever strategy pulled off by the electorate themselves if Hillary Clinton supporters as well as those lately disenchanted BO supporters banded together in support of John McCain. What better way to say Hillary 2012!!

Most people would not want to here what others really say behind their backs. I once insulted a guy who had an ego that chocked the oxygen out of any room he entered. I owned a lounge where all kinds of people came in. One of my regulars was a somewhat celebrity, you would recognize his name. He comes in one night after the track and he had won like 7 or 8 thousand. He is holding court when I come in and I hear about this. Towards the end of the night he is leaving and I have to get his attention before he leaves. He owed me like 12 thousand at the time and I figured I would get something on the debt finally. Long story short I get an argument, Not only that but he says things like I should be happy he comes in because he brings in customers. That is when I tore into him. With all that was said I said one thing that cut him to the ground. I said, "You think people come in here because you come in, are you kidding". "If you had any idea what people around here really think of you and what they say behind your back you wound never show your face here again". " People think you are a fool, they buy you drinks because they know you have no money". I said more but he never opened his mouth. He gave me 2 thousand. When he left it looked like that walk to the door was the longest walk he ever took in his life. About a week later I got a check from a lawyer for the full amount and we never spoke again. Back to the original subject, some really bad stuff could come out. I hope it has nothing to do with race of use of the "N" word by either of the Clintons.

Anonymous, thanks for the heads up on the Atlantic article. Even from the outside, we got the sense HRC's campaign was all about entitlement, "deranged narcissism" (Jeffery Toobin's characterization), envy, and prejudice, but mainstream media refused to fully report on the full range of HRC antics. HRC Inc. said repeatedly in public that BO couldn't win because of his color and that they hoped something bad would happen to him, so you can imagine what they were spewing privately. You know, maybe it's good not to know; I'd like to think more of the human spirit...

I would say one of the primary reasons Hillary can under no circumstances be the VP is because they don't know what is coming out before the election about Hillary's campaign. We already know some have book deals and the soap opera that may have been going on and quotes that could come out could be devastating to Clinton. This tuesday we will get a glimpse in an article coming out in The Atlantic. Some of this will be pretty embarrassing I suspect. Some could even be hateful comments regarding Obama and his family most likely from Bill Clinton. Either way it is just the beginning of those looking to cash in on Hillary while anyone still cares.

Anonymous, great post! You expose the fallacy of the 18 million HRC voters (reflective, let's be honest, mainly of HRC name recognition and Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos"). It's true that if these voters exist, and each gives 1 dollar towards her debt (incurred after she lost any mathematical chance to win against BO), her debt would disappear. Now for the revised BO long list.
The latest BO long list is still about the same; some changes -- HRC does appear on the list (she didn't on the prior list).

"All 18,000,000 of you HillBilly lovers should send Hillary $1.00...that would take care of the bulk of her self-imposed debt. Why are you people looking toward Senator Obama to retire the debt that she incurred by staying tooo long at the party! She and her supporters are pathetic, not to mention that sore, bitter, poor loser Bill! How jealous and envious can these people be of a man who ran an exemplary campaign and one who the WORLD loves. Hillary will make a complete fool of herself and her supporters if she and they have the gall to place her name in for nomination. She will truly go down in history as the ultimate spoiler and she and Bill will never have any further credibility in any party. I wouldn't be surprised if McCan't doesn't name her for his VP. I'm sure she would jump at the chance to switch sides and wait for McCan't to self destruct!

Jaded,It was Obama himself that said he did NOT have the experience to run. And experience aside, we have Wright. And Obama followed this racist and black supremist for 20 YEARS! Obama would NEVER have gotten away with this had he been a white male following a white supremist such as David Duke. But it is the same thing! EXACTLY the same thing! and NO TRUE Democrat that believes in equality should vote for Obama. The Democrat Party should be ashamed of Obama and his ACTIONS for the past 20 years. And he is the reason many Democrats are NOW Independent. Racism is racism! How would Black America feel had White America placed a candidate like this as the Democrat (or Republican)nominee? It is totally wrong.

Democrats may be a little more vocal and will voice an opinion even if it seems to go against a party line.

Republicans just fall in line regardless how badly they are being used. The republican party has changed over the years. It is now just a party of mindless zombies. It is hard to believe even they themselves believe half of what they say, it is all partisan to them. The good of the country does not even enter into it.

The tone is set by the candidates, the voters just get into the fray. In this case the Clintons actually made an issue of the "Kitchen sink thing" They made an ad campaign of "If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen". Hillary made the comment regarding the Muslim issue, "Not as far as I know". Hillary even made an allusion to standing in the wings in case someone assassinates Obama. Now when it is over who is the complaining and calling fouls, THE CLINTONS, the ones who started it all. The Clintons are two of the most despicable people in Politics. This has nothing to do with being a democrat, it has to do with the candidates. We expect to hear hate and venom from the bigots who the Clintons cultivated to do their public dirty work and they are still at it. I am sorry but the Obama people will not sit quietly by. It is not a Democratic thing it is this election. I have quit my church because of it and severed several long time friendships due to it. It was sad to find I was unknowingly in the company of bigots. People who would vote for someone whose only important quality is that they are white.

You must have missed the Mccain Bush primaries. In fact in the recent primary remember this, McCain said of Romney in New Hampshire, "Never get into a wrestling match with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it." Mccain is just a piece of sh&t even to his own party members. It is no wonder he is one of the most hatted in the party. No one will even campaign for him.

All you Obama haters just be honest.

This is what you really think.

How dare Obama get this far! He was supposed to be a joke, a Joke! He stole Hilary's turn. How dare Obama think he has the right to run, that was arrogant of him thinking he could ever win against our queen. Now that he has, we will destroy him, his wife and his kids.

We will destroy the Democratic party that didn't cut Obama off at the knees and discourage him from running! In Denver we will be armed with whatever it takes to ensure that Hillary is the Democratic nominee.

Tell me I'm wrong.

The people on this blog who are harassing JakeD are PAID Obama staffers who do shifts to blog - they are dragging down the discourse in this country - they are also hostile to First Amendment Rights.

OK

These people are hostile to our most basic Constitutional Freedoms - Freedom of Speech - instead of encouraging an airing of a wide range of views the Obama Campaign seeks to harass those who Speak.

The whole Hillary thing is stupid. They tried to get an email campaign thing going to get Hillary's name put in nomination. Yea 18,000,000 votes and the best they could do was come up with 400 willing to participate. It is over blown by the media. She doesn't have the support she tries to pretend. Obama has been gaining in women every week and the "Hillary Effect" is now negligible.

Posted by: Anonymous | August 9, 2008 11:33 AM

It's sad to see people who supported and voted for Bill Clinton twice for president, be accused by Hillary supporters of being less than honerable by voting now for Barack Obama. He is simply the best choice the party has to offer.

Everytime I hear a Hillary supporter try discredit the Obama campaign, the Obama supprters, and the Democratic Party, it makes me realize how sick people really are in America.

Is there ever a point where Obama can rely on your support? Would you actually support a fellow Democrate if you had your chance too?

Stop crying about spilled milk and move on. Hillary is just fine and I am sire she is realizing that people who claim to be Hillary supporters still need to think about the Democratic Party as a whole and not just one politician or nothing.

Did Obama lie to you about weapons of mass destuction. Did Obama cheat his National Guard duty? Did Obama Cheat on his wife?
Did Obama graduate at the bottom of his class?

So what's the grip Hillary supprters have?
I know it cannot be against Obama.

Why tear down good people for being good?

Obama got over by getting the uncomitted votes in Michigan, that he did not win. The Democratic Party Elites like Howard Dean and Speaker Pelosi wanted this primary over, quickly, to benefit your man Obama. Keep disrespecting Hillary voters/supportors, on November 4 2008, Obama will fall short. Why? Because of the disrespect he , his campaign and his supportors treated us. If you think you can win without us, have at it. By the way didn't Obama say that he would win red states because he was winning them in the primary ? Guess what? He is poll numbers in those red states is low. Keep your dissing, I hope you can do it, but I am afraid the only sure votes Obama can count on November 4th are African American and white liberals. Guess where moderate Democrats like me will be doing? Either sitting this out or voting for John McCain.

Dear Uncle Ben, I wouldn't wait up late for that apology to either you or scrivener. Stay on that slow boil, Uncle B, maybe then your rice will be soft enough to get a gas-powered tiller through it. And since we're talking, say hello to that other entrepreneur, the lady on the syrup bottle, Auntie J. And also shout out to that BET guy whom we thank for a network that, 24/7, airs cable programming depicting AAs as criminals, thugs, buffoons, minstrels, and skanks, without a millisecond devoted to news, weather, or public affairs. Thanks, BJohnson. And say hey to Jimmy Walker and Wheezie next time you see 'em. It is really sad that HRC and the Harpies have already decided to blow their entire wad: idiotic claims of sexism in the convention platform, putting HRC in nomination so more airtime is devoted to their hooping and hollering, and endless hate blasts from Ferraro and Harriet Christian type. But BO has the patience of Job and this, too, will pass and we can start talking about issues like fossil fuel scarcity, home prices, etc., and turn our back once and for all on the foolish performance art of the Hillarians ("dog" thought that one up, not me) as they drift into extinction. Cap

I take umbrage, Sir, at your insults.

I am not "the guy on the rice box."

I, sir, am a man. That's M-A-N. And I am a businessperson and entrepreneur. Have you not seen our most recent series of TV commercials?

As for the scribe known as Scrivener; I do not know the gentleman. But I have read his reasoned argument in favor of the candidacy of Hillary Rodham Clinton; and I must say, I cannot find fault with his analysis.

I can assure you that I am not the only "AA," as you so delicately put it, who would vote for Hillary Clinton. My good friend, Robert Johnson of Black Entertainment Television, is but one of many millions of "AAs" who believe that Sen. Clinton's experience, and her willingness to fight, makes her the preferred choice. Barack Obama is a fine man, wise beyond his years, and a magnetic personality. He would make a great vice president in a Hillary Clinton administration.

So again, Sir, this "AA" awaits your apology; I am on a slow boil.

Sincerely yours,

Uncle Ben

p.s. I just clicked on Scrivener's links; my computer did not crash. You owe Mr. Scrivener an apology as well.

SOME REPLIES.........
TO JANE..I will not cry for the Clintons. I will cry for our country if Obama is elected [ or McCain ].
TO PETER..Obama is smart? His speeches were plagiarized. To me, that is stupid for a candidate to do. He says there are 57 states in the U.S. He says his parents were married in 1965, 4 yrs after he was born, etc. Most of his speeches have to be "clarified" by his campaign because he makes so many misstatements.
TO DINO..If I don't vote for B.O., I am no Dem.? I have been a Dem for over 60 years & voted every election for the Dems. This year, I will not vote for President, only
Senators, etc. I am not racist. I am anti-Obama, the liar, the non-achiever, the panderer, the flip-flopper. As for the polls, it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings.
TO CAPT'N OBV...What papers do you read? Do you read? Clinton fought to have Michigan/Florida seated. She had been the winner, remember? It was Obama who denied them that right. He refused to allow it unless he received 50% of their delegates. The DNC allowed it & then they were seated, with Obama getting a lot more delgates than he deserved. I say he stole the election!
TO SUSAN..Hillary is self obsessed? Did she create her own Presidential seal? Does she claim Chairmanship of Senate committees that she isn't even a member of?
TO JEFO.. Honorable Obama? With his false history & his false Chairmanship claims & his never admitting a mistake or never issuing a needed apology?
TO HOLDEN..King Obama? Don't you think he is a bit more like Napoleon?
TO FLA. JEWISH DEM..You shouldn't brag about being for Obama after the way he fought to keep your state from being seated at the convention. From one Jew to another, as a Jew, you should be concerned about his loyalty to Israel. He has already pulled back his support of a united Jerusalem, saying that in his speech to AIPAC he used "poor phrasing"
,but keeps his promise to the Palestinians that there may be Palestinian sovereignty over a portion of Jerusalem in the future. This statement was made on a TV show, Fareed Zakaria, CNN, on July 23 or 27th, whichever was a Sunday.
TO CRANKYOLDMAN..Hillary pandering to drama queens? What about Obama's pandering to the Hispanics, to the Jews, to the Palestinians, to any group that he is giving a speech to?
Would love to give more replies but dinner is calling....

The only conclusions I can draw about people who state Obama is a narcissist with a God complex and no leadership skills is they're either racist or brain-damaged. These people can't seem to wrap their minds around the idea that Barack is a brilliant, hard-working, self-made man with community experience and a genuine understanding of the current challenges we're facing as a nation. Sure, he's made some mistakes, as have you, as have I, but he is currently the best candidate to begin cleaning up the colossal mess left behind by the Bush administration. This is an incredible challenge. If anyone is going to have the ability to rally people to help out, including other countries, it's Barack. To heal our foreign relations, Barack is a natural diplomat. Hillary may have started the primaries as a front runner, but the more people heard Barack Obama, the more they connected with him because he connects with the people. He’s straightforward. He never slighted or insulted Hillary. Part of her downfall was that she fought dirty, she insulted him, she played into the guilt-by-association illusion and worked every angle to try and make Obama look bad. She did what McCain is trying to do now. She was not chosen, she didn't win, period. She had her chance to lose gracefully, but she tried to break DNC party rules. Nothing was stolen from her. Her name should NOT be on the DNC ticket. She's a fighter, which can be a good thing, but not when it begins to fracture the Democratic party and hurt the objective. She should be supporting Barack’s campaign 100%. Constipated Clintonites: get over it. If you love her so much, give her some money because she’s lucky to have a gentleman like Barack Obama help her raise money to get out of debt. If the shoe were on the other foot, I doubt HRC would have helped him. I can only imagine she’d kick him to the curb and criticize him for mis-managing his campaign - and would you want someone who can’t manage a campaign run the country? I think Hillary has the skill to be a good senate majority leader. She could run for president again in 8 years, maybe then she’ll be a little more mature. In the meantime, the collective HRC supporters who won’t vote for Barack are effectively grabbing the steering wheel and pulling the vehicle into oncoming traffic. Time to get over your psycho-emotional snag, suck it up and just vote Democrat or we’re gonna have a hard time pulling ourselves out of this rut. Listen up: McCain’s not going to help us. He doesn't seem to know where he stands on the issues from day to week. He keeps changing his mind. He was against Bush’s tax cuts for the rich, now supports those tax cuts. He was against off-shore drilling for 26 years, now he supports off-shore drilling. He was pro-choice, now he’s not. He was against the war in Iraq stating in 2005 there was corruption between Halliburton and Dick Cheney (see documentary “Why We Fight” 2005), then he said we should stay in Iraq for 100 years if necessary and he criticized Barack’s plan for troop withdrawal and said he was naive. Not long after Nouri al-Maliki, Iraq’s Prime Minister, agreed with Barack Obama’s plan for a 16 month timeline of troop withdrawal, McCain supports the idea. Who is this the real McCain?? His talent consists of standing still and pointing a judgmental finger at Obama in attempt to tear him down. He accuses Obama of being elitist and out of touch with the American people, meanwhile, McCain glides around in $500 Italian calf-skin loafers. Obama is a natural diplomat focused on taking action now and learning more about what the right plan of action as situations evolve. He isn't pandering, McCain is. Again, anyone who says Obama has no experience doesn't know anything about Barack Obama. I suggest you do some research because people who continue to make this false claim are increasingly dismissed. People who buy into the smears are also being dismissed. Most people agree McCain’s ridiculous ad comparing Obama to Paris and Britney backfired against him. People realize there’s no similarity between vapid flash-in-the-pan pop celebrity and a person who has attracted a magnitude of attention based on his intelligence, his convictions, the belief in his ability to change a corrupt political system and restore balance of power back to the people, bring an end to the needless occupation in Iraq, shift our military focus to Afghanistan where it’s needed, push to develop sustainable energy and create more domestic jobs while removing our dependence on foreign oil, work to change the imbalance of wages between men and women, offer affordable healthcare... The plan sounds better and smarter as it develops. But we’re living in a time where we have to be very discerning. We have to question everything, especially the talking heads and our corporate controlled mainstream media who has Barack Obama’s entire life under a microscope but leave McCain’s bad side to expose itself elsewhere, on the net and through independent media. McCain pretty much has a free pass. Any candidate who supports tax cuts for the rich will be the favored candidate among corporations and subsequently gets to ride the easy slide through corporate media. The GOP has a weak candidate. That's why they're playing games and doing everything they can to make Barack Obama look bad. If there's anything the American people should learn from the last eight years of lies, the leverage of fear to take control over our constitutional rights, inflation and a flaccid economy, war, rising food and gas prices while Exxon has easily succeeded in taking our money -- you can't trust Republicans! Stop voting for these truculent politicos!

NAFTA would work very well indeed if it wasn’t so one sided. It works extremely well for the incoming countries objectives and motives; services, produce and products.

It is so poorly written that other countries are starting to dictate terms to the USA.

Because of the terms put into play by the preceding presidents, this has made it a very popular Tool for the safety of corporations to hide behind. They can move their businesses outside the borders without impunity, which also allows them to hold this country in a vise grip.

So here we are trying to survive in an institution made by them for them. Because of the greed of many, our country is going down into obscurity. Taking the rights of every hard working honest American, of a honorable job, the dignity of a livelihood for himself and his family, the right to be proud of his accomplishments and above all his country.

Collectively, we have allowed this, by continually bickering and fighting against one another instead of against the institution that brought us to this point in time.

We must regain the rights our for-fathers fought so hard for.

Don’t cry for the Clintons, they made a gallant fight and they lost. Be more concerned for your rights of liberty, a right to work, the right to live in peace.

A once in a lifetime man has seen fit to run for an office for which he is completely capable of overseeing, with the knowledge that many things are wrong with this country and has the strength of character to try and right the many wrongs that has taken so many of our rights away from us.

Be more concerned that you don’t allow this opportunity to be lost. If this happens, we may never have this opportunity again. We all then would be the biggest losers in the history of our country.

We must stand together as an all consuming unit and not let this opportunity pass. The time is now to unite for justice.

By "Getting it right" I assume you are referring to what most americans want. Most americans cast their vote for Obama. No, you Hillary people are terrible losers. You whined throughout the primary, you caused mass confusion, and you are still whining (pouting even) now that Obama is the nominee.

He has accepted every insult, every dimiss (most recently Bill Clinton) and every label in stride. He's cowtowed, pandered, and now kissed the golden helm of Bill by allowing him to speak. THAT is still not enough. We have to be nice. We have to give you time to get over it. We have to experience the catharsis. We have to let her speak. We have to give her the VP spot. We have to place her name on the ballot for a roll call vote.

We have to..We have to..We have to.

Why don't you just grow the fk up! She lost a democratic race by rules established by the democratic party. No one stole it from her. She lost. It's over. She lost.

TO: Alan A. Katz, poster at 8/8 12:25 a.m.

The objectionable Nazi rants and foolishness posted here last night appear to be the work of paid disinformation "specialists" whose assignment seems to be to troll political sites on the internet and commit cyber-vandalism.

Their goal seems to be to cast doubt upon anything that is written or posted to the internet which in any way conflicts with the world view that their superiors wish to impose on society.

I do not have the technological means to prove this thesis. I have reason to believe it is correct. Perhaps the Washington Post could trace the IP addresses of these malicious posters. But if they are who I think they are, they would have the technological means to "spoof" addresses and make it appear that the messages emanated elsewhere.

Bottom line: It might not just be the "animals." It could be an unconstitutional abuse of power.

TIME AGAIN FOR SUPERS TO BE THINKING ABOUT HILLARY?

(Note: the following column was posted here in a shorter form two weeks ago. The complete version is being reposted in light of Hillary Clinton's public re-entrance into the presidential race -- ostensibly as a campaigner for Barack Obama, but, in the opinion of many, also as her own "stalking horse.")

A new Washington Post/Wall Street Journal poll focuses on the other race for the White House -- the contest to become the nation's First Lady. While it's true that a vote for a presidential candidate is not necessarily reflective of the voter's opinion of his spouse, it's a leading indicator nonetheless. And the poll does not seem to auger well for Barack Obama.

Among those polled in four key states who had an opinion on the subject, Cindy McCain's "favorables" outstripped Michelle Obama by about a 3-to-1 margin -- this, despite Cindy's past problems with prescription drug addiction, and charges stemming from the theft of medications from a charity sponsored by her foundation. The poll didn't specifically ask about voter reaction to the recent cartoon cover of the New Yorker magazine depicting Michelle, a Yale law graduate with no record of drug use, as a fist-bumping black militant, and her husband as a turban-clad Muslim. The drawing was intended to satirize the bigoted views of the extreme right; but many, including Obama himself, took offense.

Could racism explain the disparate approval ratings of Cindy and Michelle? It's a premise that cannot be ignored. Virulent racism remains a great stain on the Republic. The poll seems to portend that Cindy McCain's foibles and shortcomings will be excused in voter evaluation of her suitability to become First Lady, while Michelle Obama's race will not. Those who would diss Michelle while refusing to disapprove of Cindy's past probably would not vote for Obama in any event; but it's an indication of how racial perceptions may color the final vote count.

To conclude that the vote for president will be decided solely on racial grounds would be to insult the character and intelligence of the American electorate -- how else to explain Obama's presumptive nomination as the Democratic candidate? But the First Lady polling once again demonstrates the pervasive role that race and racial stereotypes still plays in our supposedly enlightened society.

That is why some political observers believe that to win, Obama must follow in the measured footsteps of another African-American pioneer, Jackie Robinson: to succeed, project a perfect balance of talent, determination, humility and pride.

No one questions Obama's talent, determination and self-confidence; where he falls short of the ideal is in the humility department. The obvious, some would say overdone, stagecraft involved in his foreign tour is but the latest example of a campaign that too often has taken on the imperial airs of a cult of personality. It too closely follows a disturbing narrative that Obama cannot seem to shake: the notion that he's arrogant, effete and presumptuous to a fault -- especially for a candidate with only three years' experience on the national scene.

In this upcoming election, experience still matters -- despite the conventional wisdom that Hillary Clinton's failure to secure the nomination in the primaries indicates otherwise. It is still likely that this election ultimately will turn on the experience question:

Which candidate has the experience, values, and judgment to become the next president?

Neither candidate scores particularly well among those criteria. McCain's increasingly apparent memory problems and his verbal gaffes have raised new concerns about his age and agility. But McCain's many years in Congress and the automatic respect he engenders as a former P.O.W. probably give him the edge with typical (read: white suburban/rural) voters.

And, of course, McCain gets the racist vote by simply showing up.

If "judgment to lead," as Obama's slogan puts it, trumps experience among the electorate's major criteria for choosing the next president, it still will be close. If voters prefer the"safe" candidate, they probably will go for McCain -- unless Obama brings along an experienced, well-known and respected vice presidential candidate who would serve in the role as trusted advisor and mentor.

If Obama seals the nomination, the only candidate on the horizon that fits that bill is Chris Dodd. The animus among Obama, Hillary and Bill would seem to render Hillary an unwise v.p. choice.

But Hillary would be my pick as the Democratic presidential nominee most likely to defeat McCain -- a belief cemented recently by Obama's retreat from core principles: his acquiescence to the FISA wiretapping/telecom immunity bill, the Supreme Court decision barring handgun regulation in D.C., and the court's expansion of application of the death penalty. Throw in his pandering on church-state issues and some recent nuances on the Mideast, and he becomes even less convincing as the candidate of "change."

If the GOP is able to paint Obama's foreign jaunt as a presumptuous and self-absorbed excerise in hubris as opposed to a true fact-finding mission, Democratic superdelegates may be left to wonder: Are we really going into the general with our strongest candidate?

A disavowal of their endorsement of Obama by black leaders such as Jesse Jackson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Bob Johnson of BET could presage an announcement by Hillary Clinton that she, too, is withdrawing her endorsement of Obama, and has decided to challenge him at the convention for the nomination.

This is the secret, unspoken hope of millions of frustrated and concerned Democrats.

These skeptical Hillaryites -- some may view them as less cynical than realistic -- do not dislike Obama. But they believe that his persist demonstrations of hubris and elitism; his vacillation on some key issues; the disillusionment among some core supporters; all that, coupled with manifestations of endemic racism among segments of the electorate, could thwart his "improbable journey" to the White House.

And such skepticism over Obama's chances comes in a year that by all measures should favor the Democrats, given the sagging economy and dissatisfaction with the current Republican administration.

This is the uncomfortable realpolitik that starry-eyed pundits choose to ignore.

The question is: Is it a question that the superdelegates can afford to ignore?

Hillary Clinton got more primary votes than any other Democratic candidate in history, and the Obama camp wants to deny her and her supporters the normal and traditional process of having a runner up with a significant showing having his name put in nomination and a roll call of his delegates.

Every week, Obama engages in another spectacle that shows everyone what a narcissistic, freak he is. He isn't a leader, but a freshman senator with a God Complex. His hubris will lose the election.

At this point, he's shown how unlimited and self-focused his universe is. Even if he picks Hillary Clinton as his VP because he's sliding in the polls, I don't think he should be elected.

He's sliding in the polls because awareness is spreading that this isn't a leader. Obama's an eloquent but crazy black man spewing fake rhetoric about inclusiveness and elevating people, who instead is an unbridled example of narcissistic personality disorder. Obama shouldn't get elected under any circumstances, Clinton on the ballot or not.

Obama isn't a good celebrity because he's not inclusive enough. Just like his arguing with John McCain's "let's do everything" energy policy, where we drill offshore for oil, invest in renewable energy, conserve and build nuclear power plants. Obama just wants what is in his comfort zone.

Paris Hilton has a better energy policy, a better celebrity personality and, despite what Maureen Dowd says, Paris Hilton is hot but Obama is not.

As a celebrity, as a policy leader, as a man planning a party (convention), Obama's not inclusive, he's divisive and he comes off more like a controlling narcissist than a leader.

As a celebrity and a prospective leader, Obama could be more "Hiltonian".

BO has his own generational problem. He seems to have missed completely how community colleges have transformed America. In Audacity of Hope BO has only a single mention of cc's and only in relation to universities. His website doesn't mention cc's at all. Doesn't he know that cc's enroll more than half of all students in higher education? Doesn't he know that these students represent a cross section of America in every demographic, including age? BO cannot win this election without the vote of students who have attended a cc. BO should work with Gov. Mark Warner to learn about cc students and how cc's have changed the face of American society and the economy. He should make speeches at cc's. He should mention a cc student and their college in every public appearance. But he won't because lives in the old America where you either went to university or you went to work. In the new America everyone has some connection (student, teacher, family member, business client) to a cc. Everyone except BO.

I don't care how you word it, to take money from the {oil} companies and {rebate} it the the people is first and formost unAmerican, second unConstitional.

So which company is next to be targerted for "making to much profit"?

I am no fan of big oil, but this is not Robinhood. This is so wrong.

Not to mention "TAX TO DEATH" the rest of Americas companies to force them abroad.

McCain is not only }giving" big oil a huge tax break BUT ALSO ALL COMPANIES IN AMERICA. SO THEY WILL STAY AND PUT US TO WORK and grow and retool us to be greener.

Wake up, grow up, and read basic ecomonics. I can not even say I am shocked at the mulitude of people that do not underdtand this basic concept.

Of course, socialist like redistrubition of wealth and no wars to fight because they don't want to work for wealth and they don't want to fight for the beliefs of freedom.

Suck it up light weights and pin heads. If you want "someone" to take care of your nanny needs go live in a country that promotes that culture. Please, leave ours alone.

"Economic justice" simply means punishing the successful and redistributing their wealth by government fiat. It's a euphemism for socialism.
In the past, such rhetoric was just that — rhetoric. But Obama's positioning himself with alarming stealth to put that rhetoric into action on a scale not seen since the birth of the welfare state.

Bye all. This place has become hopeless. Between the idiotic, nonsensical "poetry", ten page rants on Nazis and long-winded diatribes by McCain trolls, there is too much noise here for any meaningful discussion.

You are witnessing the ultimate devolution of the Web. Too bad, it was a promising medium until all the animals were let loose.

Angriest Dog in the World,

Your Clinton as Hitler thing is about the most insulting ridiculous thing ever posted here and it shows that you are mindless and ignorant. You have no idea about politics or history but are very good at jumping on a bandwagon. You are a coward who can't tolerate a "strong girl"
Your kind prevent the party from uniting by villainizing the person that 18 million of us supported. I'm not some newbie to this, I've been an activist in the party since age 13 and volunteered for Jackson, Dukakis, Dinkins, Cuomo, Green, B. Kerry, Clinton, Gore, Ferrer, Clark and J. Kerry among others. The "chosen" candidate is the least experienced candidate of this century, fresh out of the state senate, and has no history or policies that back his rhetoric. I am voting for him but he doesn't even compare to HRC in terms of progressive policy proposals and legislation. So please STFU.

Perhaps that is because paid disinformation trolls are posting their "greatest hits."

And guess who's at the top of the hit parade? Look for yourself.

Perhaps the civilian overlords are perusing the web and will take note. I can't imagine they would be pleased.

No offense but the political "modern poetry" is really bad.

Politics is itself a mockery and affectation; its unreal landscape is a mere hollow shell of affectation and stereotype within the larger hollow shell of pop culture within the universe of illusion we call Zeitgeist and culture.

Writing poetry about politics is like writing poetry about jokes about poetry, or like trying to catch someone else's snot with your handkerchief.

Writing poetry about something so inherently affected and devoid of true meaning as politics always produces something that sounds really, really 13 years old.

German NAZI Party member Joseph Goebbels today as Karl ROVERER became Adolf Hitler's PROPAGANDA minister in 1933, which gave him power over all German radio, press, cinema, and theater.

In 1925 Goebbels met the party leader Adolf Hitler. In 1926 he was made Gauleiter, or party leader, for the region of Berlin, and in 1927 he founded and became editor of the official National Socialist periodical Der Angriff (The Attack). He was elected to the Reichstag, the German parliament, in 1928.

By exploiting mob emotions and by employing all modern methods of propaganda Goebbels helped Hitler into power.

His work as a propagandist materially aided GEORGE BUSH aka Hitler's rise to power in 1933. When Hitler seized power in 1933, Goebbels was appointed Reichsminister for propaganda and national enlightenment. From then until his death, Goebbels used all media of education and communications to further Nazi propagandistic aims, instilling in the Germans the concept of their leader as a veritable god and of their destiny as the rulers of the world. In 1938 he became a member of the Hitler cabinet council. Late in World War II, in 1944, Hitler placed him in charge of total mobilization.

As Reichsminister for Propaganda and National Enlightenment, Goebbels was given complete control over MEDIA:

radio,
press,
cinema, and
theater;
later he also regimented all German culture.

GOEBBELS' PRINCIPLES OF PROPAGANDA
Based upon Goebbels' Principles of Propaganda by Leonard W. Doob, published in Public Opinion and Propaganda; A Book of Readings edited for The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.

1. Propagandist must have access to intelligence concerning events and public opinion.

2. Propaganda must be planned and executed by only one authority.

a. It must issue all the propaganda directives.

b. It must explain propaganda directives to important officials and maintain their morale.

c. It must oversee other agencies' activities which have propaganda consequences...das DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE.

3. The propaganda consequences of an action must be considered in planning that action.

4. Propaganda must affect the enemy's policy and action.

a. By suppressing propagandistically desirable material which can provide the enemy with useful intelligence

b. By openly disseminating propaganda whose content or tone causes the enemy to draw the desired conclusions

c. By goading the enemy into revealing vital information about himself

d. By making no reference to a desired enemy activity when any reference would discredit that activity

5. Declassified, operational information must be available to implement a propaganda campaign

6. To be perceived, propaganda must evoke the interest of an audience and must be transmitted through an attention-getting communications medium.

7. Credibility alone must determine whether propaganda output should be true or false.

8. The purpose, content and effectiveness of enemy propaganda; the strength and effects of an expose; and the nature of current propaganda campaigns determine whether enemy propaganda should be ignored or refuted.

9. Credibility, intelligence, and the possible effects of communicating determine whether propaganda materials should be censored.

10. Material from enemy propaganda may be utilized in operations when it helps diminish that enemy's prestige or lends support to the propagandist's own objective.

11. Black rather than white propaganda may be employed when the latter is less credible or produces undesirable effects.

12. Propaganda may be facilitated by leaders with prestige.

13. Propaganda must be carefully timed.
a. The communication must reach the audience ahead of competing propaganda.

b. A propaganda campaign must begin at the optimum moment

c. A propaganda theme must be repeated, but not beyond some point of diminishing effectiveness

14. Propaganda must label events and people with distinctive phrases or slogans.

a. They must evoke desired responses which the audience previously possesses

b. They must be capable of being easily learned

c. They must be utilized again and again, but only in appropriate situations

d. They must be boomerang-proof

15. Propaganda to the home front must prevent the raising of false hopes which can be blasted by future events.

16. Propaganda to the home front must create an optimum anxiety level.

a. Propaganda must reinforce anxiety concerning the consequences of defeat

b. Propaganda must diminish anxiety (other than concerning the consequences of defeat) which is too high and which cannot be reduced by people themselves

17. Propaganda to the home front must diminish the impact of frustration.

a. Inevitable frustrations must be anticipated

b. Inevitable frustrations must be placed in perspective

18. Propaganda must facilitate the displacement of aggression by specifying the targets for hatred.

19. Propaganda cannot immediately affect strong counter-tendencies; instead it must offer some form of action or diversion, or both.

Nazis and the Republican Party
Investigative reporter Christopher Simpson says in BLOWBACK that after World War II, Nazi émigrés were given CIA subsidies to build a far-right-wing power base in the U.S. These Nazis assumed prominent positions in the Republican Party's "ethnic outreach committees." Simpson documents the fact that these Nazis did not come to America as individuals but as part of organized groups with fascist political agendas. The Nazi agenda did not die along with Adolf Hitler. It moved to America (or a part of it did) and joined the far right of the Republican Party.
Simpson shows how the State Department and the CIA put high-ranking Nazis on the intelligence payroll "for their expertise in propaganda and psychological warfare," among other purposes. The most important Nazi employed by the U.S. was Reinhard Gehlen, Hitler's most senior eastern front military intelligence officer. After Germany's defeat became certain, Gehlen offered the U.S. certain concessions in exchange for his own protection. Gehlen promoted hyped up cold war propaganda on behalf of the political right in this country, and helped shape U.S. perceptions of the cold war.
Journalist Russ Bellant (OLD NAZIS, THE NEW RIGHT, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY) shows that Laszlo Pasztor, a convicted Nazi war collaborator, built the Republican émigré network. Pasztor, who served as adviser to Republican Paul Weyrich, belonged to the Hungarian Arrow Cross, a group that helped liquidate Hungary's Jews. Pasztor was founding chairman of the Republican Heritage Groups Council. Two months before the November 1988 presidential election, a small newspaper, Washington Jewish Week, disclosed that a coalition for the Bush campaign included a number of outspoken Nazis and anti-Semites. The article prompted six leaders of Bush's coalition to resign.
According to Russ Bellant, Nazi collaborators involved in the Republican Party included:
1.Radi Slavoff, GOP Heritage Council's executive director, and head of "Bulgarians for Bush." Slavoff was a
member of a Bulgarian fascist group, and he put together an event in Washington honoring Holocaust
        denier, Austin App.
2.Florian Galdau, director of GOP outreach efforts among Romanians, and head of "Romanians for Bush."
Galdau was once an Iron Guard recruiter, and he defended convicted Nazi war criminal Valerian Trifa.
3.Nicholas Nazarenko, leader of a Cossack GOP ethnic unit. Nazarenko was an ex-Waffen SS officer.
4.Method Balco, GOP activist. Balco organized yearly memorials for a Nazi puppet regime.
5.Walter Melianovich, head of the GOP's Byelorussian unit. Melianovich worked closely with many Nazi
        groups.
6.Bohdan Fedorak, leader of "Ukrainians for Bush." Fedorak headed a Nazi group involved in anti-Jewish
        wartime pogroms.
The Philadelphia Inquirer ran an article on the Bush team's inclusion of Nazis (David Lee Preston, "Fired Bush
backer one of several with possible Nazi links," September 10, 1988.) The newspaper also ran an investigative
series on Nazi members of the Bush coalition. The article confirmed that the Bush team included members listed by Russ Bellant.
Journalist Martin A. Lee, has written for The Nation, Rolling Stone, The San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications. In THE BEAST REAWAKENS, Lee confirms that during both the Reagan and Bush years, the Republican Party's ethnic outreach arm recruited members from the Nazi émigré network. Lee says that the Republican Party's ethnic outreach division had an outspoken hatred of President Jimmy Carter's Office of Special Investigations (OSI), an organization dedicated to tracking down and prosecuting Nazi war collaborators who entered this country illegally. Former Republican Pat Buchanan attacked Carter's OSI after it deported a few suspected Nazi war criminals.
According to Lee, public relations man Harold Keith Thompson was principal U.S. point man for the postwar Nazi support network known as die Spinne, or the Spider. In the late 40s and early 50s, Thompson worked as the chief North American representative for the remaining National Socialist German Worker's Party and the SS. Lee writes that the wealthy Thompson gave generously to Republican candidates Senator Jesse Helms and would-be senator Oliver North. Thompson's money gained him membership in the GOP's Presidential Legion of Merit. Lee says Thompson also "received numerous thank-you letters from the Republican National Committee." Those letters are now in the Hoover Institute Special Collections Library.
Christopher Simpson writes in BLOWBACK that in 1983, Ronald Reagan presented a Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honor, to CIA émigré program consultant James Burnham. Burnham was a psychological warfare consultant who promoted something called "liberationism." Just before the 1952 election, the CIA worked up a multimillion-dollar public relations campaign aimed at selling Americans on expanding cold war activities in Europe. Part of the guiding theory (given the name "liberationism") was the idea that certain Nazi leaders from World War II should be brought in as "freedom fighters" against the USSR. Reagan said that Burnham's ideas on liberation "profoundly affected the way America views itself and the world," adding, "I owe [Burnham] a personal debt, because throughout the years of traveling on the mashed-potato circuit I have quoted [him] widely." Reagan may not have known Burnham's theories were based on his work on projects that enlisted many Nazi collaborators, but it seems that Reagan's CIA Director Casey or former CIA Director, Vice President George Bush, would have informed him.
At a May 9, 1984 press conference, Simon Wiesenthal said, "Nazi criminals were the principal beneficiaries of the Cold War." The cold war mentality, hyped by Reinhard Gehlen and other Nazis, became the shelter for tens of thousands of Nazi criminals. Helping the far right in this country to promote cold war hysteria became the Nazi war criminals "reason for being." As Christopher Simpson says, the cold war became those criminals' means "to avoid responsibility for the murders they had committed."
Journalist Seymour Hersh says Christopher Simpson's BLOWBACK is "the ultimate book about the worst kind of cold war thinking, in which some of our most respected statesmen made shameful decisions that they mistakenly believed to be justified." To this day, says Simpson, the U.S. intelligence agencies hide the scope of their post-World War II collaboration with Nazi criminals.

Captain America at 8:59 p.m.:

Has anyone else seen the new John McCain web ad featuring various Democrats -- Tom Dasche, Joe Biden, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Russ Feingold, etc. -- praising him? This may not be the best way to attract conservatives, but it could be effective with independents and Democrats (particularly Supredelegates?) who are leery of the Obamessiah.

It's incumbent for HRC to insure that BHO not win the nomination. HRC has both the popular and delegate vote if it was not for the wacky system in Texas and delegates from Florida and Michigan are counted. Most of the delegates BHO gathered were done before anyone knew much about him. If the article in IBD is accurate then all the more reason for HRC to win.

Barack Obama's Stealth Socialism
By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Monday, July 28, 2008 4:20 PM PT
Election '08: Before friendly audiences, Barack Obama speaks passionately about something called "economic justice." He uses the term obliquely, though, speaking in code — socialist code.

IBD Series: The Audacity Of Socialism

During his NAACP speech earlier this month, Sen. Obama repeated the term at least four times. "I've been working my entire adult life to help build an America where economic justice is being served," he said at the group's 99th annual convention in Cincinnati.
Democrat Barack Obama arrives in Washington on Monday. On the campaign trail, Obama has styled himself a centrist. But a look at those who've served as his advisers a
