Obama Hits Back

By Ed O'Keefe

Your blogsitter normally monitors the Ad Wars for Channel '08 and The Trail, so the Obama campaign's continued response to the widely-seen "Celeb" ad is right up our alley. The Democrats hit back again Monday with two new messages that attack John McCain's tactics and campaign donors.

Let's watch the first ad, "Low Road Express":

It basically repeats the message first presented in Friday's rapid-response ad "Low Road": McCain's attacks are "old politics" and similar to the campaign tactics once employed by President Bush.

"While Americans are struggling with gas prices, John McCain is playing politics," the new ad says, suggesting that McCain's latest moves abet voter suffering at the gas pump.

Then there's "Pocket":

"Every time you fill your tank, the oil companies fill their pockets," the announcer says. "Now Big Oil's filling John McCain's campaign with $2 million in contributions. Because instead of taxing their windfall profits to help drivers, McCain wants to give them another four billion in tax breaks."

And the money quote: "After one president in the pocket of big oil, we can't afford another."

Republicans responded by noting that Obama has also accepted contributions from oil company employees. That set off a day's worth of back and forth, fueled mostly by Liberal blogs, about the merits of energy legislation and campaign donations.

The new ads revive a tit-for-tat (and some might say a distraction) regarding oil industry campaign donations that first flared up between Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton during the Democratic primaries. But they succeed in refocusing the energy and character debates on the candidates, and away from the focus on Obama's perceived celebrity. Perhaps that's the best birthday gift the now-47-year-old Illinois senator could ask for.

"Republicans responded by noting that Obama has also accepted contributions from oil company employees"

Ha ah ahahahhahha are you kidding me, McCain's handlers need to get a grip,

There is NO ONE out here in AMERICA that believes oil company employees are the ones stuffing their pockets at the expense of the citizens, they are just like everybody else, giving 25 to 200 bucks to Senator Obama.

This just demonstrates how OUT OF TOUCH McCain and the Bush elite Republicans are. Everyone knows its the Big Bosses who are controlling all the money.

Isn't it interesting however that the real oil workers, the ones that do the actual work, they choose Senator Obama

The Republicans and McCain and his handlers aren't content to just shoot themselves in the foot, now they have chosen to actually gnaw the foot off.

This is why Hillary won't give up on the bid for VP , this case is still pending , and as long as she has a bid for the VP slot she has a way out of this mess , both her and Bill can pull a Pardon out of this if they can get the VP Nomination .... .......Los Angeles Judge Saves Hillary's Presidential Bid

April 25, 2008 -- In the landmark civil fraud case against Bill Clinton in Los Angeles, where the former President is charged with defrauding a Hollywood dot com millionaire to help Hillary Clinton obtain more than $1.2 million from him for her 2000 Senate campaign, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz ruled on Friday, April 25 that Hillary Clinton would not be required to testify in a sworn deposition as a material witness in the case until AFTER the November election!

Thankfully, the AntiSLAPP motion Bill Clinton filed on June 2, 2008 – which instituted a new freeze on all discovery in this case – was rejected by Judge Muñoz as untimely at the hearing on July 1. Jointly with his AntiSLAPP motion, Clinton had also filed a Motion for Judgment on the Pleadings. In it, he was asking the court to throw the entire case out, based on Hillary’s prior success in getting dismissed from the case. Judge Muñoz rejected that request as well. Instead, the judge gave Peter Paul permission to file an amended complaint.

In response to this ruling, defendant James Levin withdrew his AntiSLAPP motion, taking it off calendar. So the freeze on discovery is gone, and we are free once again to take depositions, serve interrogatories, and subpoena documents.

Peter Paul’s amended complaint will be filed on 08/08/08 and will be posted here.

Obama is a pimpster. He is scheming and exploiting innocent people who want to jump on his bandwagon in order to feel important about themselves (I am talking about the kind of thing that happens in high school; the nerds try to be friends with the popular kids, so the nerds can feel important about themselves.).

Also, he is exploiting white people who feel they owe it to the black man because of religious reasons and because whites enslaved the black man. To draw sympathy from these kinds of people, Sen. Obama keeps on mentioning that he is black and he is being attacked because he is black.

BTW, Obama is such a smooth pimpster, he could teach Don Magic Juan (the Chicago pimp) a trick or two.

Oh please! Republicans have been playing the race card since Nixon. How the hell do you think Republicans, the party of Lincoln, got to carry the "solid south"?

After the passage of civil rights legislation by Lyndon Johnson the South went Republican and has been so ever since. Johnson knew he had signed the death knell for his party in the South for generations to com.

Of couse today it is much more subtle. Nixon painted his rivals as "elites" who didn't understand the "working man" - that is those who went to college and marched for civil rights didn't understand how hard white working folk had it (as compared to welfare entitlement folk).

Come to think of it it all sounds rather familiar doesn't it?

Not this time. Not this year.

The major issue of the week has been the McCain people stating clearly that Obama has been playing the RACE CARD during this year's Campaigns - from the South Carolina primary onward to this summer when Obama keeps on attempting to charge that the Republicans are "going to make people afraid of him."

NOT that the Republicans have said or done anything racist yet, HOWEVER OBAMA KEEPS ON SAYING THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO BE RACISTS SOON.

Obama's campaign theme now is: YOU ARE A RACIST UNTIL YOU VOTE FOR OBAMA.

In response we post these Video Clips from all the major news FOX MSNBC CNN netwoks:

Heehee. Obama draws 200,000 cheering Germans waving American flags and is labeled a "celeb".

Bush landed in S. Korea and was immediately greeted by thousands of protesters.

Good thing Beijing doesn't allow such scenes.

GOOD ADS CAN'T HELP OBAMA'S VACILLATING POLITICS. SO THE CENTER-LEFT IS LOOKING TO HILLARY.

The Obama counter-ads would pack more punch if the candidate would stop equivocating on key energy issues such as offshore drilling and tapping into the Strategic Oil Reserves.

Sounds an awful lot like kow-towing to the same Big Oil that Obama says is pulling McCain's strings.

Obama has yet to realize that his main problem isn't his positions on the issues, but his penchant for changing (or "nuancing") his positions each time he is attacked.

Instead of standing firm, Obama attempts to co-opt and neutralize by adopting elements of the opposing position.

But all he is doing is feeding into a growing narrative: that Obama stands for nothing and will compromise on everything.

Why hasn't he defended his town hall suggestion that America drivers frequently check tire pressure? It was a valid point. By failing to respond to McCain's mockery of a proven way to conserve gasoline, Obama once again loses by default.

The "bimbo" ad, while subversively racist, succeeded in advancing this narrative: that Obama lacks substance, and that an "empty suit" lacks the will to fight for the people.

MEANWHILE, HILLARY PLOTS HER "PUTSCH"

Hillary continues to meet with key supporters and potential backers of her likely convention putsch attempt. Why else would she seek counsel yesterday with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter? She's cultivating support in the black community for her challenge to Obama, should he continue to falter in the polls leading up to the convention.

So, the bottom line: Obama's response ads, while effective, cannot counter the candidate's failure to shore up his base with a demonstration of firmness and commitment on key issues. His core supporters still are puzzling over his flip-flops on FISA/wiretapping and gun control. Now he's opened the door to offshore drilling. So he'll share the blame when that first inevitable oil spill fouls America's resort beaches.

Each time Obama tries to win the presidency by vacillation and unprincipled compromise, he only strengthens the argument that he lacks the inner resolve to make good on his vaunted promise of "change." Changing one's positions to fit the moment is not the sort of "change" that his supporters had expected.

Now they very well may turn to another alternative. Hillary, get ready for your convention close-up.

Hey "twothepoint"... although I admire your attempt to create civilized discussion, around here we just try and ignore the lunatics like "37thfreakshow" or whatever he is called.

It's like feeding the animals at the petting zoo... it just encourages their madness, so we try and avoid it.

Hopefully the new technical changes that are coming up will help stop the crazies from posting the same old crap, and will help us engage in some more serious political dialogue.

Playing the race card? Remember, Obama did little when Republicans repeatedly reminded voters that he was Barak Hussein Obama. And just because Obama reminds people of these tactics...he's using the race card? I don't think so. When people attempt to inject biasness and fear into others, they don't think you should expose them for it.
As with former President Bill Clinton everyone knows he's not a racist. But, because he like Jesse Jackson are not being showcased and lapped up by the Obama campaign they become less favorable to Obama and continue to talk in such a way that shows a lack of support for the nominee.

Obama is swinging back at John McCain as he should. The Obama campaign is again controlling the topics of discussion during this presidential campaign. Hopefully Obama can spend a week or so hammering home is energy plan. Then he focus on other weekly themes like Health Care and Education.

Then start over again driving home his message and policy plans.

THESE ADDS ARE DECEPTIVE

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the 2$ million figure in Sen. Obama add is about 1$ million off the real figure.

Also, Sen. McC proposes tax break for ALL American companies, not just oil companies. Sen. Obama add is suggesting that Sen. McC is giving tax break to only oil companies.

BTW, instead of giving American people $1,000 rebate, wouldn't the rebate be better spent on R&D of energy efficient technology, and alternative fuel? $1,000 in American people hands would automatically end up in oil company hands and our long term energy problems would not be solved. However, R&D would give us long term solution to our energy problems.
