Daily Fix Poll: Will Carl Paladino's confrontation cost him?
By Felicia Sonmez
Businessman Carl Paladino's (R) heated exchange with veteran New York Post famous/infamous reporter Fred Dicker is drawing massive national headline -- who doesn't love a confrontation between a journalist and a politician! -- but will it have any practical impact on the state's gubernatorial race?
Paladino, who upended former Rep. Rick Lazio (R) in the Republican primary earlier this month, is known for his bombastic style. But his showdown with Dicker wasn't a confrontation with just any reporter -- he was battling with one of the most powerful reporters in New York state. (Make sure to read Ben Smith's Dicker profile -- just terrific stuff.)
Paladino's shouting match with Dicker wasn't exactly gubernatorial and will likely lead to a series of stories digging into some of the more controversial aspects -- and there are many -- of his background.
But who knows -- at a time when voters are furious at government, might Paladino's confrontation actually give him a boost?
Or was Paladino as much of a long shot against state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (D) before the the incident as he is after it?
Vote!
