McCain's In

"I'm running" declared an e-mail Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) sent out to his supporters tonight.

The e-mail provides a link to a clip (which also includes an option to contribute to the campaign) from McCain's appearance on tonight's "Late Show with David Letterman." In it he declares, "I am announcing that I will be a candidate for president of the United States." The audience erupts into applause.

McCain goes on to tell Letterman that he plans a formal announcement in April; "You drag this out as long as you can," he joked.

For you night owls, you can catch Letterman at 11:35 p.m. ET. In the meantime, make sure to read Post senior political reporter Dan Balz's story on McCain's announcement.
