The paid staffers at Obama's headquarters have been so nasty to Sarah Palin and her family.

When it comes down to writing the history of this election -

It will be said that the paid Obama bloggers brought down the campaign with their nasty and obnoxious postings which the American people have REJECTED.

McCain and Sarah are now leading in the polls and they will pull further ahead week by week.

The paid Obama bloggers have destroyed Obama's campaign - this is completely fitting - the paid Obama staffers blogging have been harassing other posters for months and finally the American people have seen these people for who they really are - AND THEY SEE OBAMA FOR THE OBNOXIOUS PERSON HE IS FOR ALLOWING HIS PAID STAFF BLOGGERS TO ABUSE OTHER AMERICANS WHO ARE EXERCISING THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOM OF SPEECH - GOOD RIDDANCE MR. OBAMA.

Here's a citation:
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837918,00.html

The quote:
"Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor."

Here's what happened:
1. Palin asked about Banning books
2. Librarian said "no!"
3. Palin fired librarian.*
4. Public outcry in Wasilla sparked campaign to recall Palin
5. Palin hired librarian back.**

*She also fired the police chief, but that's a different story
**She didn't hire the police chief back.

This story is disturbing in soooo many ways. The police chief story is almost worse.

Posted by: BookBanner | September 7, 2008 9:38 PM | Report abuse

Hmmm, Patricia you say that "It is disturbing that a person who chooses to ban reading material approved by the National Library Assoc., in promoting her religious views is being considered as VP of USA.
We can't let this happen."

How is this any different that certain books being allowed on the shelves of a public library not promoting your "beliefs"?

First of all, I don't know that this is true. I have heard some say it is and some say it isn't. Frankly I don't care, but do you have a link to this article for those who do?

If she says she is a Christian and don't stand up for certain Christian moral issues, then the liberals would be pointing the finger and saying "see...she can't even stand by her own beliefs" Yet if she does she is a religious nut?

Concerning the question on Obama's record of achievement: he was chair of the board of a non-profit, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which squandered $110 million in grants the non-profit received on local education reform in Chicago. The non-profit achieved nothing in terms of statistical meaningful results, except the most important one: help get Obama elected to Congress. Not surprisingly then, Obama and Biden try to con the mainstream media into focusing their coverage on policy and policy differences, and not experience and competence.

OK AsperGirl. Have some AsperGum and lie down. Your copy/paste skills are excellent, but these threads are intended for original comments. (I think)
It is true that hate is a powerful motivator in American politics, heck, its kept Republicans ascendant for 14 plus years now. Irrational hatred of liberalism apparently is what drives you to clog up this board.
You're also right that an Obama presidency would be an unknown. What we do know is the direction he would attempt to take us and from what we've seen of his organizational skills during the last year, he seems fully competent.
Alternatively, a McCain presidency would be predictable. We've been on this road for 8 miserable years. I've listed some of the highlights below:

Debt gone from 3 trillion to 8 trillion
War by mistake, 4000 dead
Katrina response
Zero progress on Israel/Palestine
Schools no better
Economy in shambles
Middle class shrinking
Zero progress on renewable energy
Bin Laden still at large
Afghanistan worse than ever
Military exhausted
Jobs still moving overseas
Health care system not fixed
Immigration not fixed
Loss of respect around the globe
Torture
Guantanamo Bay
Dollar at an all time low
Oil at $150 a barrel
Abortion rate flat (reduced dramatically under Clinton)
Social Security not fixed
Medicare not fixed
Infrastructure falling apart
Denial of global warming
Science belittled

I could go on, but you get the point. No one on this blog is more guilty than you of avoiding addressing these issues while complaining of shallow attacks from the other side. Pick one from the list and lets discuss it.

Interesting that I am being called a 'partisan' conidering that I have railed against O her since Feb.
But much like many HC supporters are now tellng me:
1. Palin's inimidation tactics of subordinates, as governor are exactly what Bush/Gonzales did with the US Attorneys's. Is that the kind of change we want?
2. Is it Conservative to stand with Book Censorship like Palin demanded as mayor?
3. Alaska led the nation in high school drop outs;Is that the change we want to let Palin promote across that the nation or is it sexist to discuss her real record as Mayor and Governor?
Your response what how about O? In debate that is called a Red Herring/Misdirection Arguement.

As a HC suporter McCain lost my vote with this selection. And that makes me an Obama shrill how?

Is Book Censorship and retaliation against subordinates now a Conservative Idea? Are conservatives now proud to support high school dropouts or is Palin not responsibe for her poor Alaska education system either?

Isn't it curious that a woman who may just be a cancer recurrence away from the presidency is not being seen on any of the Sunday news programs? You know, the shows that specialize in tossing out softballs.

That is because she is only able to say the printed words written for her. It has nothing to do with her being a Washington outsider. It has to do with the fact that her handlers know she is unprepared for the presidency. She can't answer questions until she studies harder.

Wanna see what Gloria Steinem had to say about her?

Easy, "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

Those are the qualifications as laid down by the founding fathers in a little ditty known as the Constitution, I hear it may be making a comeback. Keep your fingers crossed.

That's the problem, there's nothing substantial that he's done other than advance his own status and move up the ladder, except for those two books about himself that he wrote.

Here's something that I wrote up, it's more opinion than data:

HOW OBAMA'S EXPERIENCE STACKS UP

Obama is a freshman senator in the U.S. senate and has been mainly engaged in running for president since his first year. What is his professional history?

Obama got a "community organizer" job after 2 years of unemployment after graduating from Columbia with a bachelor's degree. And as his book admits, he didn't get anywhere as a "community organizer" and that's why he went back to law school.

And as we all know, after graduating from law school, Obama failed to make partner at his law firm, set no precedents in cases he might have handled, didn't get published in any law review and didn't produce any scholarly or professional works of any nature contributing to the field of law.

Obama's probably the only politician in the U.S. to not accomplish a single thing with an ivy league law degree before going into politics.

Obama's years as a state senator in Illinois were so devoid of any leadership that he voted "present" 130 times instead of "yes" or "no", now claiming he had to do so to avoid taking stands on "controversial legislation" (as if there were 130 career-killing controversial laws he had to take a pass on at the state level, come on!).

As an Illinois state senator, Obama climbed the greased pole of corrupt, dirty Chicago politics leveraging racist politics of Trinity Church, insider ex-radical terrorists like William Ayers' networks and trading favors with corruption figures like his convicted slumlord friend Tony Rezko.

Obama has never published journal article in any law review, collaborated on any professional project, engaged in no landmark signature legislation, or made any tangible, substantial contribution of any nature to his professions as a lawyer or politician.

The only tangible works Barack Obama produced in his life are 2 fictionalized books about himself, glorifying his search for identity and his alcoholic, polygamous, already-married Kenyan father who was a failed Muslim communist (huh?) who knocked up his then-17-year-old mother and then abandoned them.

Lately, Obama has been trying to claim his "experience" "running" a campaign stacks up against Sarah Palin's experience as elected Governor of Alaska! Running for president is the experience needed to be president! That's almost as self-referential as "we are the ones we've been waiting for"!

Finally, I was shocked to discover that Obama uses a whole team of speechwriters! Giving great, inspirational speeches is THE ONLY professional leadership talent he has true claim to! He wasn't even writing his own speeches this whole time.

BIG MOVE IN RASSMUSSEN TRACKING POLL TOAY

In the first national polling results based entirely on interviews conducted after Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech, Barack Obama gets 46% of the vote and so does John McCain. When "leaners" are included, it’s all even at 48%.

EFFECT OF MCCAIN'S SPEECH NOT FULLY IN RESULTS YET

Tracking Poll results are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. As a result, tomorrow (Monday) will be the first update based entirely upon interviews conducted after McCain’s speech. By Tuesday or Wednesday, the net impact of both political conventions should be fairly clear.

OBAMA'S SUPPORT AMONG WOMEN SHRIVELING

McCain leads by seven points among men while Obama leads by six among women. On Tuesday, when Obama’s lead peaked, he had a fourteen point advantage among women. Premium Members can review demographic crosstabs and all the data we collect--not just the portion we make public. Premium Members can also get an advance look at tracking poll results via the Daily Snapshot each morning.

MCCAIN NOW MORE POPULAR THAN OBAMA
(PROBABLY WITH WOMEN)

Overall, McCain is now viewed favorably by 58% of the nation’s voters while Obama earns positive reviews from 56% (see trends).

ELECTORAL VOTE CALCULATOR ALMOST EVEN
(TAKES TIME TO REPOLL EACH STATE AFTER CONVENTIONS)

The Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator currently shows Obama leading in states with 193 Electoral College votes while McCain leads in states with 183 votes (see Quick Campaign Overview). When leaners are included, it’s Obama 264, McCain 247 (see 50-State Summary).

It's no surprise that Asparagus Girl points to a ludicrous lawsuit concerning Obama's citizenship and an article from a neoconservative British writer, who fully supports George Bush, Wolfowitz, et al.

Obviously, Palin's lack of substance demands such desperation.

IT'S WORSE WHEN THE BRIT PAPERS ACCUSE US OF BEING TABLOID

When Barack's berserkers lost the plot
Nick Cohen

My colleagues in the American liberal press had little to fear at the start of the week. Their charismatic candidate was ahead in virtually every poll. George W Bush was so unpopular that conservatives were scrambling around for reasons not to invite the Republican President to the Republican convention. Democrats had only to maintain their composure and the White House would be theirs. During the 1997 British general election, the late Lord Jenkins said that Tony Blair was like a man walking down a shiny corridor carrying a precious vase. He was the favourite and held his fate in his hands. If he could just reach the end of the hall without a slip, a Labour victory was assured. The same could have been said of the American Democrats last week. But instead of protecting their precious advantage, they succumbed to a spasm of hatred and threw the vase, the crockery, the cutlery and the kitchen sink at an obscure politician from Alaska.

For once, the postmodern theories so many of them were taught at university are a help to the rest of us. As a Christian, conservative anti-abortionist who proved her support for the Iraq War by sending her son to fight in it, Sarah Palin was 'the other' - the threatening alien presence they defined themselves against. They might have soberly examined her reputation as an opponent of political corruption to see if she was truly the reformer she claimed to be. They might have gently mocked her idiotic creationism, while carefully avoiding all discussion of the racist conspiracy theories of Barack Obama's church.

But instead of following a measured strategy, they went berserk. On the one hand, the media treated her as a sex object. The New York Times led the way in painting Palin as a glamour-puss in go-go boots you were more likely to find in an Anchorage lap-dancing club than the Alaska governor's office.

On the other, liberal journalists turned her family into an object of sexual disgust: inbred rednecks who had stumbled out of Deliverance. Palin was meant to be pretending that a handicapped baby girl was her child when really it was her wanton teenage daughter's. When that turned out to be a lie, the media replaced it with prurient coverage of her teenage daughter, who was, after all, pregnant, even though her mother was not going to do a quick handover at the maternity ward and act as if the child was hers.

Hatred is the most powerful emotion in politics. At present, American liberals are not fighting for an Obama presidency. I suspect that most have only the haziest idea of what it would mean for their country. The slogans that move their hearts and stir their souls are directed against their enemies: Bush, the neo-cons, the religious right.

Palin Rises Above "Shrill" Media
By Ruben Navarrette
...
"As you may have noticed, this has not been the fourth estate's finest hour. Reporters, anchors and pundits have mocked Palin and belittled her accomplishments. They've turned tabloid by going nuts over her pregnant teenage daughter, even demanding -- according to top McCain strategist Steve Schmidt -- DNA and blood tests to see if there is truth to the blogger-conceived conspiracy theory that Palin's youngest child really belongs to her oldest daughter. Some even shamefully descended into sexism by calling her a product of political affirmative action, depicting her as a pretty face with no substance -- McCain's "trophy vice," according to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd -- and asking 1950s-type questions about how she expected to balance family and a new gig as vice president.

"The sexism continued after Palin's speech. A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called the speech "shrill and sarcastic." That brought some members of the media back to their senses. CNN's Campbell Brown and Gloria Borger were among the female journalists who cringed at the word "shrill" and pointed out that -- while that was a term leveled at Hillary Clinton -- you don't often hear it directed at a man.

"Palin used her speech to Republican delegates to admit she is not a member of the D.C. insider's club but has no interest in joining.

"I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment," she said. "And I've learned quickly these last few days that, if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone."

"Then Palin took a well-deserved shot at the elite media.

"Here's a little newsflash for those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this great country."

...
"Not surprisingly, the media were not nearly as enthusiastic. The same folks who victimized Palin were suddenly playing the victim. One television anchor asked if her attacks on the media didn't make her less likable."

RESPONSE DUE IN OCTOBER IN LAWSUIT OVER OBAMA KENYAN CITIZENSHIP

Democrat Philip Berg Suing Barack Obama over "Fradulent Candidacy"

"The Berg lawsuit contends there is enough truth in the various reports to conclude, "Unfortunately, Obama is not a 'natural born' citizen."

"The suit alleges that while records exist of a "registry of birth" for Obama in Hawaii (filed four days after his claimed birthday), no records exist of his mother's stay in any Hawaii hospital, suggesting she may have given birth elsewhere and filed the registration shortly thereafter on American soil.

"Obama's grandmother on his father's side, half brother and half sister claim Obama was born in Kenya," the suit states. "Reports reflect Obama's mother went to Kenya during her pregnancy; however, she was prevented from boarding a flight from Kenya to Hawaii at her late stage of pregnancy, which apparently was a normal restriction to avoid births during a flight. Stanley Ann Dunham (Obama) gave birth to Obama in Kenya, after which she flew to Hawaii and registered Obama's birth."

"The claim could not be verified by WND inquiries to Hawaiian hospitals, since state law bars the hospitals from releasing medical records to the public."

THE OBAMA FAMILY ESTATES

Barack Obama lives in a Georgian mansion with 7 fireplaces that his slumlord, convicted corruption figure buddy, Tony Rezko helped him buy while helping a bagman who was laundering Iraqi oil-for-food program money

Obama spent $6 million to move his one-time acceptance speech to a specially built temple in a coliseum with fireworks.

Obama's brother George in Kenya is living in a hut on less than a dollar a month. His brother doesn't even have an inside toilet. Obama could practically triple his brother George's annual income by sending him a $20 bill once a year. Or he could buy him an outhouse for twice that much.

Why are all the Liberals so Scared of Palin?

Answer... because your election is slipping away!!!!!!!

The joke is on the democratic party who should have won this election by a landslide but screwed up by nominating a 2 yr senator who has spend his entire time in the senate campaigning...

Given the war, the economy & the popularity of the current administration.. They should have a 15+ point lead!

That is what you get when you nominate the most liberal, least experienced, friend of slum lords, terriots and black seperatist!

Hilary would have won in a laugher!

Thank you for giving the GOP a chance

Media bias:
If you are biracial and born in a state not connected to the lower 48, America needs darn near 2 years and 3 major speeches to "get to know you." If you're white and from a state not connected to the lower 48, America needs 36 minutes and 38 seconds worth of an acceptance speech to know you're "one of us. "If you're a minority and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "token hire." If you're a conservative and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "game changer." If you live in an Urban area and you get a girl pregnant you're a "baby daddy." If you're the same in Alaska you're a "teen father." (Actually, according to your own MySpace page you're an F'n redneck that don't want any kids, but that's too long a phrase for the evil liberal media to take out of context and flog morning noon and night). Black teen pregnancies? A "crisis" in black America. White teen pregnancies? A "blessed event." Similarly, if you name you kid Barack you're "unpatriotic." Name your kid Track, you're "colorful." If you're a Democrat and you make a VP pick without fully vetting the individual you're "reckless." A Republican who doesn't fully vet is a "maverick." If you say that for the "first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of my country" it makes you "unfit" to be First Lady. If you are a registered member of a fringe political group that advocates secession that makes you "First Dude." A DUI from twenty years ago is "old news." A speech given without proper citation from twenty years ago is "relevant information." And, finally, if you're a man and you decide to run for office despite your wife's recurrence of cancer you're a "questionable spouse." If you're a woman and you decide to run for office despite having five kids including a newborn... Well, we don't know what that is 'cause THAT'S NOT A FAIR QUESTION TO ASK. Need any more be said?

Cute video, but the fact that you mock the notion that the eastern media is considered clueless, when that is a basic truth to much of the country, merely underlies the point that the media is indeed clueless. This is soft snobbery.

Those in the media have a weird nostalgia for some time in the past when columnists and media celebrities had "followers". Many of us out here are indeed dummies, but not all of us are dumb enough to believe what you tell us, when we know you have your own beliefs, agendas and corporate alliances. America's B.S. filter failed us after 9/11, and we re-elected Bush. But that same B.S. filter is coming back online, and hopefully we will reject the empty siren song of Obama (even if the media claims we are dummies for not drinking the Kool Aid the press is trying to serve us).

Media Elite...... A relatively funny piece. I guess the Republicans have gotten under the skin of the "in the bag" media so they figure they can defuse the situation by ridiculing the truth. It's an old tactic of the media, and politicians, that works with their supporters. Too bad the media (in both camps) hasn't learned to be objective.

Someone in Hollywood needs to bring back Citizen Kane. I guess most of you are too young to remember that one.

"SO SAMBO BEAT THE B*TCH" -- Sarah Palin's Words??

Is this really what Sarah Palin remarked in an Alaska restaurant, as overheard by waitress "Lucille," after Barack Obama bested Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary race?

That's the quote from a story by Charlie James, an American-born journalist living in Toronto, as published in the "L.A. Progressive."

A story about this story was posted last night on nowpublic.com. Below is a link to the original story.

If that were the only negative remark about Palin, one could dismiss this as an impolitic comment in private conversation. But the article contains other harsh words about a "mean and vindictive" Palin, spoken by Alaskans, many of them on the record.

AsperGirl: An update tonight to one of your posts concerning the mysterious files for the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), for which Obama chaired the board for five years until early 2000. A liberal blogger revealed on Sept. 6 that it was the CAC executive director who blocked the National Review's Stanley Kurtz from accessing the CAC files. See: http://globallabor.blogspot.com/2008/09/obamaayers-update-chicago-annenberg.html

By way of background, CAC is the non-profit that managed to squander some $110 million in grants to improve local education in Chicago, but measured no statistical improvement. However some prominent members of leading Chicago families served on the board with Obama, which was likely an enormous help in launching Obama's run for Congress.

WHAT NATION HAS "57 STATES"? -- THE NATION OF ISLAM, OF COURSE

What about Obama's recent statement that he's visited "57 states"? This is no joke, he really said this. Just Google "Obama 57 states" and you can watch the video.

Everyone knows that the U.S. has 50 states. But there is a union that has 57 states in it: the union of Islamic states has 57 members. The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations. It has 57 Islamic member states, from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkan, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America.

This is kind of an important slip coming from a candidate who is African-Arab by racial heritage, Muslim by birth who claims to now be Christian, who belonged for 20 years to a Church that publishes pro-Hamas material and whose leadership has close ties to the Nation of Islam, who was raised abroad in an Islamic state with a Muslim stepfather and who has been endorsed by Hamas.

Just another in a long string of Obama behaviors in which he talks as if he's living in an Islamic society.

GEE WONDER WHY OBAMA LEFT THIS OFF HIS RESUME

Obama's Lost Annenberg Years Coming to Light
By Thomas Lifson

The cloak of media invisibility is slowly beginning to lift from Barack Obama's most important administrative leadership experience, helming an expensive educational reform effort in Chicago that failed to produce any measurable academic gains, according to the project's own final report.

Add in the fact that former Weatherman and admitted terrorist William Ayers (whom Obama described in the Philadelphia debate as merely a "neighbor") was head of the operating arm of the CAC, working with Obama on distributing scores of millions of dollars to grantees in the wards of the city, and you have a topic that the Obama campaign wishes to avoid at all costs.

A compliant media has averted its eyes so far. A timeline of Obama's career from George Washington University omits it....

The four plus years (1995-1999) Barack Obama spent as founding chairman of the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) represent his track record as reformer, as someone who reached out in a public-private collaboration and had the audacity to believe his effort would make things better. At the time he became leader of this ambitious project to remake the public schools of Chicago, he was 33 years old and a third year associate at a small Chicago law firm, Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland.

This was a big test for him, his chance to cut his teeth on bringing hope and change to the mostly minority inner city school children trapped in Chicago schools. And he flopped big time, squandering lots of money and the time of many public employees in the process.

THE Admiral SON.

In Oct. 26, 1967, the admiral's son while flying his 23rd mission over North Vietnam, once again fell from the sky, this time landing in the hands of a brutal enemy. He was beaten and bayoneted. His shoulder was smashed and his right calf was nearly perpendicular to his knee.
The severely wounded McCain was finally thrown on the back of a truck and hauled to the infamous Hanoi Hilton prison camp. Immediately, his captors began to interrogate him using sadistic methods they had perfected on hundreds of captured U.S. servicemen before him.

His interrogators demanded military information. When he refused, his guards kicked and pounded him mercilessly.
McCain admits that three to four days after he was captured, he promised the Vietnamese, "I'll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital."
McCain also admits that the Vietnamese rushed him to a hospital, but denies he was given "special medical treatment" because of his promise.
He claims he was given medical care normally unavailable to captured Americans only because the Vietnamese learned he was the son of Admiral John S. McCain, Jr., the soon-to-be commander of all U.S. forces in the Pacific including those fighting in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese figured that because POW McCain's father was of such high military rank that he was of royalty or the governing circle in the United States. Thereafter the communist bragged that they had captured "the crown prince"and treated him as a "special prisoner."

Less than two weeks after McCain was taken to a hospital, Hanoi's press began quoting him giving specific military information, including the name of the aircraft carrier on which he was based, numbers of U.S. pilots that had been lost, the number of aircraft in his flight, information about location of rescue ships and the order of which his attack was supposed to take place.
There is also evidence that McCain received "special" medical treatment from a Soviet physician.

After he was out of the hospital, McCain continued cooperating with the North Vietnamese for a period of three years. He made radio broadcasts for the communists and met with foreign delegations, including the Cubans. He was interviewed by at least two North Vietnamese generals one of whom was Vietnam's national hero, General Vo Nguyen Giap.

On June 4, 1969, a U.S. wire service story headlined "PW Songbird Is Pilot Son of Admiral," reported one of McCain's radio broadcasts: "Hanoi has aired a broadcast in which the pilot son of the United States commander in the Pacific, Adm. John McCain, purportedly admits to having bombed civilian targets in North Vietnam and praises medical treatment he has received since being taken prisoner.
McCain says he violated the Code of Conduct only when the North Vietnamese brutally tortured him. He further claims that he was so distraught afterwards that he tried to commit suicide. He has never explained why his "aid to the enemy" continued for more than three years.

Even though there are no reports in the public record from other POWs who witnessed McCain's claims of torture and heroics or his attempted suicide, the American media has accepted his version of events word for word, no questions asked.

Yet, the same press that transformed the admiral's son into an "incredible war hero--an inspiration to all Americans," vilified the two grunts.
Comparing the incidents surrounding the fates of three POWs,' who collaborated with the enemy, makes one question why two faced possible execution for treason, while the third won acclaim as a hero fit to be President of the United States.
Once more, Lady Luck had smiled on John McCain . . . or was it the admiral?

BARACK OBAMA'S CORRUPT RELATIONSHIP WITH CONVICT TONY REZKO

Please Watch this report on Obama, Obama's slums, Rezko, and $100M of wasted taxpayer money, from NBC news, Chicago's most respected TV news program.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDHsHM0laT8&feature=related

How do you explain away the fact that Barry Obama never followed up on the 11 slums that his friend Rezko was supposed to repair in Obama's district in Chicago, and continued to do nothing about the 40 slums that Rezko was supposed to repair or replace in Chicago, even after Obama joined the US Senate?

From the Chicago Sun Times:

For more than five weeks during the brutal winter of 1997, tenants shivered without heat in a government-subsidized apartment building on Chicago's South Side.

It was just four years after the landlords -- Antoin "Tony'' Rezko and his partner Daniel Mahru -- had rehabbed the 31-unit building in Englewood with a loan from Chicago taxpayers.

Rezko and Mahru couldn't find money to get the heat back on.

But their company, Rezmar Corp., did come up with $1,000 to give to the political campaign fund of Barack Obama, the newly elected state senator whose district included the unheated building....

The building in Englewood was one of 30 Rezmar rehabbed in a series of troubled deals largely financed by taxpayers. Every project ran into financial difficulty. More than half went into foreclosure, a Chicago Sun-Times investigation has found.

"Their buildings were falling apart,'' said a former city official. "They just didn't pay attention to the condition of these buildings.''

Eleven of Rezko's buildings were in Obama's state Senate district....

Rezko and Mahru had no construction experience when they created Rezmar in 1989 to rehabilitate apartments for the poor under the Daley administration. Between 1989 and 1998, Rezmar made deals to rehab 30 buildings, a total of 1,025 apartments. The last 15 buildings involved Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland during Obama's time with the firm.

Rezko and Mahru also managed the buildings, which were supposed to provide homes for poor people for 30 years. Every one of the projects ran into trouble:

* Seventeen buildings -- many beset with code violations, including a lack of heat -- ended up in foreclosure.

* Six buildings are currently boarded up.

* Hundreds of the apartments are vacant, in need of major repairs.

* Taxpayers have been stuck with millions in unpaid loans.

* At least a dozen times, the city of Chicago sued Rezmar for failure to heat buildings.

You know what a "fatal flaw" is? Your single, lame point is not a real refutation.

All of those things you cite are relevant, if they are determinants in how the individual constructs their social reality. As the TAT testing shows, they are determinants of just that.

What that means is that most media professionals of mainstream news organizations aren't equipped with the cognitive capacity to understand the reality of small town America & Republicans.

I.e. the two "Americas" live in different realities with distinct interpretations of words and events. The media closes the cognitive dissonance gap by believing the Republicans are liars and cynics and it's all a game. So their abusiveness in covering Sarah Palin is okay, and so is all their disparate and biased coverage okay, if it's all a cynical game.

They don't realize the Republicans are serious about Sarah Palin.

Aspergirl,

Murdoch only said it appeared that Obama would win by a landslide and that he would consider voting for him but would have to see how things were in six months. See below from Yahoo financial news:

Posted May 29, 2008 12:34pm EDT by Sarah Lacy in Investing, Internet, Media, Newsmakers, Venture Capital, M and A, IPOs
Related: nws, msft, yhoo, nyt
Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg had a long day of grilling executives at their All Things Digital Conference. But they saved Rupert Murdoch -- their Wall Street Journal overlord -- for last. The highlight? Murdoch’s not-quite-but-almost endorsement of Barack Obama for president.

The founder -- and defender -- of Fox News said he expected Obama to win in a landslide, citing widespread unhappiness with the current administration and his disenchantment with Republican contender John McCain. Murdoch added that after a long career in the Senate, McCain had been forced to compromise too much and doesn’t stand for much. Murdoch even nonchalantly owned up to influencing the New York Post to back Obama in the New York primary.

During the Q&A, I pressed Murdoch -- a new U.S. citizen -- on whether he would actually vote for Obama in November. He said he was leaning toward it, but would know in the next six months. When I asked if I could call him, he said yes, then joked I could probably just figure it out from reading the Post.

If the work of the below scholar/author is true, the media elites are (1) guilty as charged, (2) cognitively incapable of perceiving reality in the way Republicans/small town America does and (3) incapable of recognizing their own biases or when their professional behavior is biased.

Mainstream media professionals are both low-paid and of uniform profile in their cognitive behaviors that relate to how they construct social reality. I.e. their constructions of social reality all come from the same box and have the same basic components.

If the above is true, that has several implications, described below.

That would be consistent with what appears to be their intentional refusal to recognize when they are abusing their forum for what to many people appear to be partisan propaganda purposes supporting their political agenda.

They are incapable, cognitively, of constructing reality outside of the box in which they construct reality. When accuse of bias, they don't detect the processes of bias within themselves as their bias is not a conscious process. It is implicit in how they construct reality. Therefore, the media bias is not an ethical or moral or professional lapse. Quite correctly, they do not feel guilty of anything because they are not guilty of anything.

They actually cannot help how they construct reality.

The implications of the below-described study are what I've been writing about for a long time. The media appears to be limited by their brains and culture and this is why they behave the way they do.

The media elites do not engage intentionally in their journalistic malpractice & they don't set out to be abusive toward Republican indiviuals. They are, quite simply, in the base culturally and demographically and religiously and financially and geopolitically, of the northern/eastern liberal elites. Asking them to understand and guard against what we clearly see as their biases, assumes that they are capable of stepping outside their own construction of social reality and recognizing when they are acting biased. (Most people aren't capable of doing that.)

But how does one explain their denial of professional malpractice when confronted with statistics and concrete facts of their writing and covering with profound biases? They probably recognize that they give lopsided treatment and coverage to dems vs. repubs, but as a compensation they probably rationalize that what they do is justified. I.e. to avoid recognizing the cognitive dissonance between their behavior and their sense of ethics, they must justify and rationalize their biased malpractice by some cognitive compensation. That compensation must compensate for their inability to perceive legitimacy in the reality of "The Others" (who act and speak in ways outside the frame of references of their construction of social reality). That would explain how and why they demonize, caricature and dehumanize those Republicans and "rubes" whose reality they aren't cognitively equipped to grapple with.

The logical conclusion then is, if the above is true, that what they do isn't intentional. Nor are they capable of recognizing what they do to Republicans as abuse, or detecting when they are writing propaganda versus real journalism. They don't even feel like hypocrites in rejecting accusations that they have been acting biased. When they experience the dissonance between their construction of reality and the Republican/Rube construction of reality, they ascribe the dissonance to being ue to Republicans/Rubes being insane, evil or liars.

Thus they can treat Sarah Palin the way they did, and then ridicule those who accuse them of being biased or unprofessional. And put out mocking pieces like the above, mocking those who try to complain about what is in fact a pattern of professional malpractice and abuses on their part, albeit a pattern they are incapable of recognizing.

If you are an art critic, and your brain is constructed so that you can't see the color blue, you are not intentionally not seeing that color. If you then ridicule or laugh at artists' work that are constructed from shades of blue (say, seascape artists), and then scoff at those who blame you for being a biased and abusive art critic to certain artists (seascape artists), you aren't being a corrupt, biased jerk, but simply acting consistent with your brain's construction of your vision of the art. If everyone else in your profession (art critics at large) all happen to be be blind to the color blue and you all get together and scoff at those who criticize you for being abusive toward blue-using artists (seascape artists), you would feel validated by the collective scorn of your professional group directed toward those who accuse you of judging seascape artists unfairly.

So when those in the media put out mocking pieces like the Politico.com "Why the media should apologize" and this Milbank video above, they think they are really being funny instead of callous or clueless about their own professional lapses. They really don't see how abusive, hypocritical and partisan their coverage of her was. And those who might perceive that their treatment of her was disparate and belittling, they will have constructed some cognitive scheme to resolve the cognitive dissonance that dehumanizes or delegitimizes the target of their biased treatment. So they develop the notion that the Republicans are acting like cynical, corrupt manipulators in their support of Sarah Palin and it's all just a game. There is a sort of professional behavioral relativism they apply to dealing with what they perceive to be cynical, lying Republicans.

The media elites who are jeering at and undermining Palin still, still don't realize that the Republicans are serious and that Sarah Palin is a real rising star with powerful promise of compelling leadership in the bipartisan political landscape McCain dreams of. They don't realize that they are shooting down and sabotaging that which they would, if it came from a democratic convention, to be an absolute good.

The Media Elite: America's New Power Brokers
by S. Robert Lichter

From Publishers Weekly
"The first volume of a research project conducted by Smith College political scientist Rothman and Columbia University researchers Robert and Linda Lichter, this is an outstanding study. It opens with a profile of today's "typical" media worker: an upper-middle-class, white, male college graduate earning 30,000-50,000 a year, whose parents are college graduates, perhaps professionals. It is notable that 68% come from Northeastern or north-central cities and have little sympathy for small-town America; few attend church or synagogue. The authors proceed to demonstrate that media people's regional and class prejudices determine their handling of the news: they are distinctly against nuclear energy (although many experts are not), strongly pro-busing (despite the compelling arguments against the practice) and furiously antibig oil. No one concerned with the media can afford to pass by this searching examination. Photos. "

From Library Journal
"A Smith College political science professor and two research associates from Columbia's Research Institute on International Change interviewed 240 journalists and gave them the Thematic Apperception Test. As one might expect, the TAT finds these journalists from the New York Times , Wall Street Journal , and Washington Post , among others to be urban, nonreligious, and liberal. They, not surprisingly, "subconsciously structure social reality" and search for and find "abuses of power." The bias and the selective perception of journalists found by the researchers are not new, nor is the authors' call, about which they offer few details, for journalists to "take responsibility." For comprehensive collections only."

And that gays can be "changed" by prayer. I guess that goes along with denying the fact of evolution. Hell, even the Pope agrees that evolution is a fact.

Tom DeLay in drag, aka Palin, is the embodiment of medieval superstition and modern facism. No wonder the religious right idolize her. Thank God a majority of us American women don't.

Asspergirl, do you even read the nonsense you're ripping off from Sheep-ublican organs? "There were erroneous reports that Palin had supported Pat Buchanan's presidential campaign (she supported Steve Forbes)" Steve Forbes? He's the biggest wing-nut of all!

Baa baa baa baa baa baa baa baa.

This isn't about the media elite. This is about a woman who believes women who are impregnated by rapists must be forced to have the baby, that young girls who are molested must be forced to have the baby,

She is just disgusting.

Repub, Rupert Murdock is for Obama because his kid is nuts for Obama & he wants to make the kid happy. Came out in an interview after he bought the Wall Street Journal.

The Republicans have unleashed a swell of overflow sympathy to mitigate this opprobious hurt thrust upon all elite media victims!

Thanks, GOP heroes!

Now, about those nattering nabobs of negativism, nick them now at the bud! That will give us and the Moose Lady Maverick something to cheer!

While you are at it, GOPers, hide Princess Paling from the Big Bad Media nattering nabobs! Those elite media ogres are unconscionably negativists alright!

This site has the inside scoop about the Palin Dui Secret, http://www.duihelpguide.com Why hasnt the news covered this?

This site has background info on sarah Palin Bio, Pics, Videos, Alot of Polls like how many people actually think that she is attractive? http://www.theveep.com

This site has everything about her scandals, Levi the Boy Friend, what really happen with ebay plane. http://www.hotpres.com

Despite all of this, and her lack of experiance she would probably make a much better president then McCain., Because like Obama she hasnt been corrupted by washington yet.

Yeah, since Dana Millbank distorted Obama's quotes for his GOP lick spittle columns, I'm going to pass. Somehow he doesn't strike me as a good guy.

I love the Fix, Chris C. and Dana Milbank. Thank you the doing the impossible--making politics even more fun. BTW, David Broder's cameo was my fav. Does he use such language off-camera usually?

I find it amusing to read how upset conservatives are with the MSM. This the same media owned by groups like the News Corp, owned by Rupert Murdock. And the Sinclair media group. I believe most of the "MSM" is owned by conservatives. So what we have are conservative fighting against conservatives?

that was terrific! my two favorite moments were the ominous music accompanying Mr. Fix Elite and Mitt Romney completely taking back there behind the scenes the b.s. he threw out from the podium. It really is the case the lots of Republicans are smarter than their politics. But boy are they cynical and destructive of our national discourse.

The most disturbing thing is that the mainstream media outlets, who were putting out even false news, acting like tabloids, have yet to run any debunking articles. Given the dozens of articles that covered Barack Obama's "Fight the Smears" website, you would think they would engage in at least that decency after how they greeted Sarah Palin's entry onto the world stage without waiting for her debutante speech.

HAS THERE BEEN MEDIA BIAS IN COVERING PALIN?
JOURNALISTS COMMENT ON MEDIA PILING ON PALIN

Weekly Standard: McCain Finds the Right Wingman
by Stephen F. Hayes

"...Over the previous several days [leading up to her speech] she had been portrayed as a naïf, a rube, and a bad mother. Journalists had peppered the McCain campaign with legitimate questions about her experience and her record as governor. But these same news organizations--including some of the world's most prestigious--devoted much of their time to exploring irrelevant aspects of her personal and family life.

One television network showed a family picture of the Palins with the belly of Palin's pregnant daughter Bristol spotlighted. Another showed several high school pictures of Bristol Palin's boyfriend, Levi. In the fourth paragraph of a front-page New York Times story we learned that Palin's husband, Todd, had been arrested on DUI charges in 1986. A writer for the Atlantic Monthly hyped an unfounded Desperate Housewives-type rumor that Palin's last child, Trig, was actually her daughter's. A major U.S. newspaper demanded the McCain campaign share medical records relating to Palin's amniotic fluid.

There were erroneous reports that Palin had supported Pat Buchanan's presidential campaign (she supported Steve Forbes), that she had been a member of the Alaska Independence Party (she hadn't), and that she had "slashed" funding for Alaska's special needs children (she had increased it)."

Cute. I always knew Cillizza was a powerful insider.

Am I assuming that, with the closing clip of Piper Palin in his closing appeal for some love, the media elite narrating his expose would like some cuddling and spit-grooming?

I suppose that even media elites have their primate bonding needs!

My previous blog mistakenly omitted some info. Here it is:
The Anchorage Daily News ran an interesting article on September 4th about Sarah Palin that I think all voters should read because it gives you a VERY good clue as to who she is. When Sarah Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla., the city librarian was asked to remove certain books from the library. When she refused, she received a letter that she would be fired.
It is disturbing that a person who chooses to ban reading material approved by the National Library Assoc., in promoting her religious views is being considered as VP of USA.
We can not allow this to happen.

Palin won't speak to the media because she can't...

I get a kick out of all of the goofy Wingnuts acting like Palin is all of a sudden credible because she read a coherent speech that was written for her by Karl Rove. What a bunch of crap, she's an ethics challanged creationist thug who's used to bullying here way around in small little ol Alaska where no one notices it. She's a small time Dick Cheney and she knows that she can't go off script or she'll be sunk.

I gave up watching and reading the Eastern Media Elite for Lent to purify my mind. Then God parted the heavens and told me, "Even Satan is my Satan." So I decided to give them a second chance.

Chris, in addition to snarky sketching, being an "all around funny man and good guy", he also sometimes commits serious and consequetial acts of journalism! I am thinking of the Arlington Cemetery stories. I hope the Sketch investigates the curious case of the Walter Reed Middle School and Medical Center green screen.

I was shocked, shocked to find that the Republicans are back-slappingly chummy with members of the DC press corps, without whom they wouldn't be able to do what they do.
