Obama Outspending McCain Nearly 3 to 1 on Television

Barack Obama is outspending John McCain at nearly a three-to-one clip on television time in the final weeks of the presidential election, according to ad buy information obtained by The Fix, a financial edge that is almost certainly contributing to the momentum for the Illinois senator in key battleground states.

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, Obama spent more than $20 million on television ads in 17 states including more than $3 million in Pennsylvania and more than $2 million each in Florida, Michigan and Ohio. McCain in that same time frame spent just $7.2 million in 15 states. Even when the Republican National Committee's independent expenditure spending in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin is factored in (a total of $5.3 million), Obama still outspent the combined GOP forces by roughly $8 million in the last week alone. (See full distribution after the jump.)

The spending edge enjoyed by Obama has been used almost exclusively to hammer McCain as both a clone of the current president and someone who is out of touch on key domestic issues -- most notably the economy. The assertion of Obama's spending edge has coincided with the collapse of the financial industry and a refocusing by voters on the economy to turn the election from a toss up to one in which the Democratic candidate has moved into a discernible lead.

While the struggles of McCain and his party over the Wall Street bailout bill that passed Congress last week after much sturm und drang have been well documented, the practical political impact of Obama's decision to forego public financing for the general election and McCain's choice to accept the $84 million in public funds has not been as fully explored.

Obama's fundraising machine has continued to churn in recent months -- bringing in $67.5 million in August alone and ending that month with more than $77 million on hand. (Reports for September are not due at the Federal Election Commission until Oct. 20.)

Obama's ad spending strategy has been based on the idea of stretching McCain to the limit in a series of non-traditional battlegrounds (Indiana, North Carolina, Colorado, Virginia), knowing that such an approach would force the cash-poorer Republican's hand at some point.

That decision paid off last week when McCain pulled down his television ads in Michigan, a move due in large part to the prohibitive cost of continuing to run commercials in the Wolverine State. A look at advertising in the last week in Michigan showed Obama dropping nearly $2.2 million as compared to $642,000 for McCain and just over $1 million by the RNC -- a difference of nearly $600,000 in favor of the Illinois senator.

A detailed look at campaign spending on ads over the last week shows clearly how Obama is using his financial edge over McCain. In 13 of the 15 states where both candidates were on television, Obama outspent McCain -- in some states, drastically.

In Florida, where recent polling suggests an Obama surge, the Illinois senator disbursed more than $2.8 million for television ads in the last week while McCain spent $623,000 -- a massive $2.17 million spending gap.

In North Carolina, Obama dropped approximately $1.5 million on television commercials last week while McCain spent only $137,000. Such a wide spending disparity explains why a series of polls has shown Obama trending upward in the Tarheel State of late.

Even in Pennsylvania, the state where McCain is now focusing much of his time and energy in the final month of the campaign, Obama's spending advantage is massive. Obama disbursed a little more than $3 million in the Keystone State last month as compared to $1.2 million in ad spending by McCain and another $807,000 by the RNC. It adds up to a million-dollar edge for Obama on television -- meaning that he outspending Republican by roughly 33 percent in Pennsylvania.

In Virginia, a state that has gone Republican in every presidential election since 1964, Obama's pronounced spending advantage is also being felt. Obama spent $1.6 million on ads in the Commonwealth last week while the combined forces of McCain and the RNC spent $909,000 -- giving Obama a $700,000 spending lead.

Only in Minnesota and Iowa did McCain have a spending edge on television over Obama in the last week.

In Minnesota, the McCain spent $377,000 on television, far more than the $196,000 Obama spent during the same period. Republicans saw a significant uptick in their numbers in Minnesota following the national party convention in August although most recent surveys show Obama reclaiming a statistically significant lead. History is also against McCain in the state as no Republican presidential nominee has carried Minnesota since 1972.

In Iowa, McCain spent $297,000 on television as compared to $224,000 for Obama. That's rough parity in a state where polling shows Obama with a comfortable lead. McCain has spent considerable time, attention and money in Iowa, however, a strategy that has baffled many within the Obama campaign. Iowa went for then Vice President Al Gore in 2000 by 4,000 votes in 2000 but George W. Bush carried it by 10,000 votes four years later.

Spending by the RNC's independent expenditure arm has kept McCain within shouting distance of Obama in several crucial states including Ohio and Wisconsin.

In Ohio, Obama spent $2.86 million on television last week while the combination of McCain ($1.1 million) and the RNC ($1.66 million) gave Democrats just a $100,000 edge. The same was true in Wisconsin where Obama disbursed $1.24 million, compared to $1.03 million for McCain and the RNC.

Is Obama's spending edge conclusive when it comes to determining the outcome on Nov. 4? No. External events can -- and always seem to -- intrude on even the best laid of political plans and strategies. But, Obama's fundraising prowess has provided him a major leg up in the final month of the campaign that, when combined with the detrimental effects the focus on the economy has had on McCain, make it an uphill climb to victory for the Arizona senator.

It seems that friends of Obama have a lot in common:

Aires and wife
Reverand Wright
Father Flaggard
Farakan
Acorn
Rezco

THEY ALL HATE AMERICA. It is well known that birds of a feather flock together. So there you have it and I have called a spade a spade.

Wake up Democrats and use some common sense. Obama is a danger to our county. Obama is friends with black militant racists, terrorists and criminals and should be exposed as a FAKE AND A FRAUD.

McCain made his usual claim to be like Teddy Roosevelt. Hmmm, does he make this analogy because TR:

Went to Harvard and Columbia (like Obama) and earned a Harvard degree with honors (like Obama);

Firmly BELIEVED IN THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, thought it unwise to have In God We Trust on currency, and would not swear on a Bible;

Was the YOUNGEST person to assume the presidency, at 42;

Was known for his political move to the LEFT;

Promoted REGULATION of railroads, foods and drugs and launched 90 antitrust suits, including one against the largest corporation, U.S. Steel;

Was considered among the most WELL-READ of any American politician;

Worked with major figures in the ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION movement; and

Won the NOBEL PEACE PRICE and negotiated the END of two WARS.

Who is that Make-Believe Maverick kidding?????

Somehow, in one way or another, all of Obama's tangled webs cross. Here goes. Check out OBAMA'S KENYAN CONNECTION, Raila Odinga. Obama SUPPORTED him in the 2007 Kenyan pres. election; it is documented that ODINGA PLEDGED TO TURN NAIROBI OVER TO SHARIA LAW within 6 months if elected. OBAMA CONTINUED HIS SUPPORT despite the obvious danger to Kenyan secular law and the Kenyan Christian majority. MY QUESTION. From where did all of the $ come to finance Obama's media blitz? Looks like much of it has come from foreign donors to whom, perhaps, Obama has also made a pledge. I, myself, don't want to give him the chance as president to prove me wrong. If he is elected, however, I'm afraid that he will prove that those of us who feared him were more accurate than anyone gave us credit for being.

Most of the people posting are very ignorant. You are so worried about color. Obama is the future of this country and many of you are too dumb to realize that. Like Obama said, since Bush has been in office, our debt has doubled. It is only going to get worse if McCain is elected. Based on how he was looking last night, he is not going to be around to much longer. Palin has no clue what is going on in the world, so therefore, this country will go straight to HELL. She want to go to war on Obama but she need to look in the mirror and get control of her own family. I feel sorry for you people. Apparently, you are not worried about your children, grandchildren or your own future. I am, that is why Mr. Obama already have my vote. Palin also want to criticize his character and not talk about the real issues because she always say something stupid. SNL is not mocking her for no reason. I am so looking forward to Obama being PRESIDENT because that is how it is looking. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

Outspending McCain and the Mess-iah is still only 2 points ahead in the polls? Putting all that $$$ into covering his tracks i.e. his position on Abortion, raising taxes, terrorist connections, illegal immigration, Franklin Raines, Freddie Mac contributions, Fannie Mae contributions....a Commie is a Commie.

Not surprising. We know that the claim that Obama is for the "little guy" is bogus. The big dollar donors are for the Democrats - and they are the ones that have reporters arrested when they photograph the donors. This dollar disparity - not to mention Obama's millions of dollars in free press - is the only way that a do-nothing junior Senator from Illinois can ever begin to convince America that he is qualified to be President. The only thing that Obama has ever done in his life is run for President. The idea that anyone would even consider voting for Obama is proof that a large percentage of Americans are no longer capable of independent thought...

It's quite sad to see many McCainiacs on this board (not the increasingly-rare ones who have tried to post sensible reasons as to why they'll vote for their man) reduced to posting nasty remarks about Obama. I'm not about to assume Obama will win, but I'm growing more confident that he'll do it. Desperation's a trip, ain't it, McCainiacs?

I already voted absentee.

McCain Palin.

Mr. Obama is a crook and a liar.
I think it is hilarious how he is campaigning as a "moderate"
If he becomes pres first thing he will do is get in bed with Blarney, Nazi Pelozi, Harry Greed and and of course that lovely amicable person MICHELLE OBAMA. She is such a sweet heart, isn't she?

I'm an old retired guy who doesn’t have to work and I can honestly say it won't matter to me in the long run who wins this election. At my age any election I participate in could be my last. I do believe however that the current administration has been the worst in my lifetime (born during FDR). I don't think anyone can rationally deny that. We have had 8 years of corruption, unnecessary war and shredding of the Constitution. Over the last several weeks we have seen the collapse of Fannie and Freddie, Lehman Brothers and the disappearance of Merrill; AIG needed $85 billion to stay afloat WAMU was seized and sold to JPMorgan Chase. Wachovia will be gone soon. Last week, the bail out bill. Now this party wants us to give them 4 more years so that John the "maverick" can fix Washington. ...like I was born yesterday.

If "small town working class" rust-belt voters in Ohio, Pa., Michigan and Indiana help re-elect the GOP then I for one don't want to hear anymore whining from them about their disappearing jobs and livelihoods, the high cost of college and gas, lack of health care etc. Let Johnnie' and Sarah’s "patriotism" put food on your table. Go flip burghers!

Screw 'ya. Cling to your guns and religion and “small town values”. Pray to Jesus when you go hunting for a meal. Stay with that church and keep your weapon. You will need both the soup kitchen and the rifle. You will deserve what you get. Your kids can go to community college if you can afford it and you can forget about ever retiring. You’re probably out of work anyway.

I got mine already. I live comfortably in the sunny South on a golf course in a paid off house, got my steady income, my "socialist" medicare and prescription drug coverage that you younger people wish you had but will never get under the Republicans. I sent my girls to college and they are successfully out on their own. The world won't run out of gas before I go and the planet won't get too hot.

A McCain election ain't gonna hurt me.

As Johnny Carson used to say - I upped my lifestyle - up yours!

I’m an old man. Trust me on this. God helps those who help themselves - if you're in deep doodoo economically and you vote Republican for their "values", you deserve it.

Hmm. Ayers radical bombings are dismissible "old news"? Wonder what they'd say if McCain was a friend of a former Nazi Prison Camp Guard!

Obama's associations ARE relevant. They speak to his judgement and his character.

And they form a PATTERN!

Rev Wright, Fr Pflaeger, Minister Farrakhan - Radical, anti American, anti-semetic and hardly traditional Church leaders!

Tony Rezko - Fraud convict

Bill Ayers - unrepentant terrorist, they served on board of Annenberg together overseeing expenditure of tens of millions of dollars. Records "unavailable". Annenberg runs the "Factcheck.org" site that Obama uses as his only source of "facts" on his "fight the smears" website.

ACORN - So frought with voter fraud they should be closed down and indicted under RICO! Where you're never too dead to vote twice! Ever wonder what a "community organizer" is? Think ACORN! Who was Obama a "constitutional lawyer" for? ACORN!

Fannie/Freddie - Obama's the #2 money recipient behind Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd!

Raines/Johnson - People more responsible for the economic mess more than any other... and they're in Obama's inner circle giving ECONOMIC advice? And Johnson was picked to vet Obama's VP Pick?

Is there ANY Obama Associate who the American People can be PROUD of?

obama is about to buy the presidentency of the United States. This is all about him and finding his "roots", as he stated in his book after failing as a community aggitator. His plans are a disaster for middle America, because he plans to tax them and then redistribute the money to his community effort. Unfortunately, we have learned nothing in the collapse of the housing market.....where money was given to those who couldn't or refused to repay. There will be many corrupt hands of people like Franklin Rains, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and etc. Pelosi's "cultural of corruption" will continue and middle America will pay the price.

well people, I don't think America is ready to put a black man in the white house
oops i mean half black but then he has already thrown everyone black and white under the bus. i was enthused about Obama in the primaries and was going to vote for him up until i stepped into the voting booth and then i saw a black person and voted for Hillary who i hate. and i think most Americans will do the same. Racist ? maybe! but black people are the most racist people in the world. i am not voting for any incumbent either we need to throw everyone out and vote for term limits and vote to stop
FULL retirment benefits for everyone that serves as sentors and congressman, they need to only be able to collect retirement after age 65 like the rest of us, not be a senator for 4 years and start collecting retirment for life. WAKE UP AMERICA. Look at all the PORK we are paying for. NO more 26 and 36 year terms limit to 2 terms .and no more campaign finance.
no retirement till age 65
no limousine service for all of them
why are they sitting on their fat asses and making 1,000,000 dollars no raises
limit their salaries to 125,000 dollars and none for their spouses and we didn't elect the husbans and wives GET A JOB !!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

Obama outspends Mccain yet McCain is basically tied with Obama. Well, McCain is more exprienced, he has the know-how and the ability to lead, Obama has none of these qualities. If Obama gets elected, be prepared to say "Heil Obama".

The race between Obama and McCain is tight for a few reasons.

1) McCain has been in the government longer.
-Even if someone has been doing and promoting things that have turned out VERY BAD for our country, many feel comfortable knowing...,well, that he has a longer record. Obama's short record has those same people worried the same as they would be if they sat in a barber's or stylist's chair who had only been cutting hair for four days. They haven't actually SEEN the barber cut a patch in someone's hair but the fear is there that he/she might.

I've gotten a bad haircut or two in my time from people who hadn't been cutting that long. HOWEVER, I've also gotten a few from "experienced" barbers who I've SEEN cut hair very well for other customers. Maybe it was just MY HEAD huh?

2) Race.
-Whether people think he's an Arab Muslim (WHICH YOU HAVE TO BE A COMPLETE IDIOTIC, TOOTHLESS RACIST TO BELIEVE) or a black man (IN WHICH CASE YOU ARE JUST A TOOTHLESS RACIST) there are those whites that just won't vote for a black guy. Honestly, these people are kinda like children in this respect. It's almost as if they don't know any better.

I'm black. I learned the word cracker before I was born. Learned to at the very least have a very healthy dislike of white people probably from the time I was able to recognize facial expressions... I took me being bused to white schools and have great white teachers for me to break the hate being beat into my head since childhood. If it wasn't for some of the after school programs, boy and girls club, upward bound type programs I was in, I'd still be the same way today.

Some people, black and white, never had the "chances" I had to break the cycle, or the opportunities to remove themselves if only for a little while from their peers and family members who spew the hate. They get old, have kids, and teach them the same things. The point is these people are very much set in their ways and even though there is a black man (or Arab Muslim if you're stupid) who "seems" to have great plans for America they just can't bring themselves to vote for him. It's their parent's fault, who have THEIR parents to blame, and so forth back into the ages.

3) Fear and Ignorance.
-Since it has become very clear McCain does not have a solid plan for any of the things he proposes he has resorted to fear mongering. Truth be told it's been going on since the primaries in both parties, but never as much as John McCain currently. The fact that it's having any effect is beyond stupid. Then again, there are still those that believe he's Muslim.

I just moved and had my cable service transferred. My wife is from Europe, Holland to be exact, and she loves to speak to as many Americans as she can about politics and socials issues in America. Well, we gone on about this and that and finally the subject come to Obama and how he believed Obama had deep ties to Arab and Muslim nations. I mean the guy made it sound like Obama was actually the president of Iran in makeup.

Though this doesn't stop here, this is just one example of how otherwise intelligent people can be turned into complete idiotic toothless racists by the business fear and ignorance.

4) Partisanship.
-Really. It's like the Crips and Bloods out there. The Dems and Reps even have the same colors. There are those that will never cross over just because. Even if the boat has sunk and is currently still on the bottom they WILL NOT jump ship to even save one life. What is worse, they pull innocent bystanders (Independent and/or Undecided Voters) down with them. Even though there is a chance to save the lot of us they'll tell everyone to stay with the idiots who hit the iceberg. If the Dems got us into this mess there would be those on that side, but right now it's the Reps who got us here.

I'm 27 years old. I've lived through Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and the incompetent Bush. The best time to be an American was during the Clinton years. Say what you want about him. You're pockets were fat, the country as a whole was doing great, and people (THE REST OF THE WORLD!!!) really, really liked us. It's a shame that when I got to HOLLAND OF ALL PLACES people who don't know me refer to me as "The American" in a manner that is NOT FLATTERING. I mean seriously... Holland?

For any people who read this and haven't made up their minds, PLEASE RESEARCH THE FACTS!!!! It'll take more than 5 minutes of your time, but IT IS WORTH IT. If you do there is only one conclusion. The Dems are the way to go...for now. That's the simple truth of it all. There could very well be a better Rep candidate come next election, but right now it's the Dem hands down in my opinion. Then again, Gore was hands down better than Bush too...

Nov. 4th here we come!!!

Some who post here either share McCain's propensity to lie and distort or are profoundly misinformed -- or both. Obama was born in Hawaii, a U.S. state. Obama IS leading comfortably in the polls in all the states Kerry won. In addition, he has locked up Iowa (where it is astonishing that McCain is still wasting money) and New Mexico, which puts him to 264 electoral votes in the estimation of every reputable analyst. He also leads in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada and North Carolina. If he wins any one of those states (other than NV, which has only 5 EVs), he goes over 270 and locks up the win. The ONLY battleground state where he still trails is Indiana and he is within 2% there. It is looking like a landslide the likes of which haven't been seen since 1988.

"PRESIDENT OBAMA." Get used to the sound of that, GOPbots. You'll be hearing it for the next 8 years.

Chris, what about the DNC? Is it really reflective to compare Obama spending alone to McCain and RNC spending combined?

Posted by: howlless | October 8, 2008 9:55 AM | Report abuse

(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania – 10/06/08) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obama’s lack of “qualifications” to serve as President of the United States, announced today that Obama and Democratic National Committee [DNC] filed a Joint Motion for Protective Order to Stay Discovery Pending a Decision on the Motion to Dismiss (which was) filed on 09/24/08.

While legal, Berg stated he is “outraged as this is another attempt to hide the truth from the public; it is obvious that documents do not exist to prove that Obama is qualified to be President.” The case is Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083.

Their joint motion indicates a concerted effort to avoid the truth by attempting to delay the judicial process, although legal, by not resolving the issue presented: that is, whether Barack Obama meets the qualifications to be President.

It is obvious that Obama was born in Kenya and does not meet the “qualifications” to be President of the United States pursuant to our United States Constitution. Obama cannot produce a certified copy of his “Vault” [original long version] Birth Certificate from Hawaii because it does not exist.

Furthermore, and actually more important is Obama’s Certificate of Citizenship that he received when he returned from Indonesia, as if it exists it would indicate that Obama was “naturalized” and also not able to be President.

The DNC has promised “we the people” an Open and Honest Government and has promised to uphold our United States Constitution. The DNC has failed their promise. DNC Chairperson Howard Dean should resign as he has not and is not fulfilling his responsibility of seeing that a “qualified” candidate is on the ballot as the Democratic candidate for President of the United States.

Berg stated that a response in opposition will be filed in the next day or so to the Defendants Motion for a Protective Order.

Our website obamacrimes.com now has 21.7 + million hits. We are urging all to spread the word of our website – and forward to your local newspapers and radio and TV stations. People are desperate for a change and giving to Obama in droves. Despite unwillingness to vote for a black man and dogmatic refusal to vote for a Democrat, for once the climate is ripe for the better angels of America to triumph over bigotry and small-mindedness!

What I find revealing about this is the fact that although Obama is outspending McCain 3 to 1, it isn't reflected in the polls. Yes, he's winning at the moment. With the amount of money invested in his campaign, during an election year that the people are sick of Republican rule, Obama should be destroying McCain. He's not, and that tells me that people don't particularly care for this candidate. His arrogance in itself is enough to turn off the average voter. I always hear black voters say they can relate to him because he's one of them. Get real! This guy isn't on yours or any Americans level. Actually, he's looking out the window of his ivory tower and laughing at all of us. He is supposed to be the change candidate, yet he picks an old school democrat as his running mate, Joe Biden. Open your eyes people! I will give Obama credit for one thing. He is pulling off the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the American people. He's a chameleon. I don't think anyone in America really knows who this guy is or what he stands for.

"His rise is remarkable in its own right. It's the kind of thing that could happen only in America. But he's never run a city, never run a state, never run a business. He's never had to lead people in crisis. This is not a personal attack. It's a statement of fact: Barack Obama has never led anything." -- Rudy Giuliani

Federal Election Commission: 10/07/08

“Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has raised about $3.3 million from contributors who did not list a home state or who designated their state with an abbreviation that did not match one of the 50 states or U.S. territories, according to records provided by the Federal Election Commission.

About half of Obama’s $455 million in contributions so far are unitemized. The campaign does not identify those donors.

Republican John McCain’s campaign lists all his donors, even those who give less than $200, on his Web site.”

These are sad times indeed. This type of lopsided playing field should be illegal in this country.

Dear Friend:

Are you ready yet for the November 4th Elections? How about your friends, family, and neighbors?
More Americans are expected to vote this year than ever before in history, so don’t be left out! Be sure to ask everyone you know the following questions:
• Are you registered to vote? If you moved recently, have you updated your voter registration?
• Did you apply for an Absentee Ballot? Do you know your state may not require any reason?
• Can you find your local Polling Place? Do you know it may have changed from last time?
The answers to these questions -- and all your voting needs -- can be found at www.StateDemocracy.org

Please go back to your cult. $500 million dollars did not come from small Internet donors. Everytime an Obama supporter makes a comment, it reminds me of the movie "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

Obama has to spend a lot to try to win back all the Hillary voters who loathe him with a passion. Obama treated the Clintons like garbage and Obama supporters treated Hillary supporters like animals. The web posts on some groups were incredibly mean. I work with fellow 7 Democrats who were for Hillary. One is staying home and the rest are voting for McCain. We want the Democrat Party returned to the Clintons.

What a load of garbage! Obama has collected donations from bundlers, lobbyists, law firms, foreigners, and financial firms. He is unqualified, unfit, and unworthy to be the President.

Did his small Internet contributors think it was a wise economic decision for Obama to repaint his airplaine at a cost of $300,000 or issue his fake presidential seal?

How about the $800,000 directed to ACORN to defraud our voting system and scam the election process?

The mere fact that Obama is spending at least 3 times the amount of McCain is a settling feeling. Obama is not spending government money he is spending the money his fellow supporters voluntarily donated. They strongly beleave he is a much better candidate for president thus they donate a lot of money. McCain supporters on the otherhand like McCain as a candidate just not enough to donate like the democrats did. Hopefully all of Obama's spendings will reward him with a landslide victory! On Nov 4 the people who donated money will be happy with their efforts!

You SAY you are black. Without question you are a racist.

It would appear that you don't think Sen Obama is 'black' enough to meet your sicko standards.

On the basis of your 'standards' Lena Horne, Billie Holliday, or Billy Strayhorn wouldn't make it either.

Your racism is ludicrous; your choice of political party is remarkably predictable. Self-hate can do that to a guy. Assuming you are a guy.

It Seems it takes a lot of money to make a candidate out of nothing.

mr Obama came from no where fast with nothing.

He can give a scripted speech.

If it was not for the Hollywood hoopla and staging of shows especially where other events were already schedule.

Or Giving free concerts

Or Giving a Big show and concerts in another Country

The marketing and pr, having him and his slogans and catch phrases in your face 24/7 through every media available to man.

Selling yourself off for something you are not takes almost a half a billion dollars.

If mr Obama is such a high maintenance candidate you bet he is going to be a high maintenance President.

He loves spending money that is not his.

He loves the life of Glitter and glamour.

The difference is in the fact that where McCain was lame enough to TAKE public money, Obama had the class to allow the public to choose to give it to him.

Obama's campaign is running on willing public contributors to his campaign - people who wish to see him elected. McCain can expect little to nothing.

I'm not quite certain why it is necessary for Sen Obama to spend so much money to demonstrate Sen McCain's fundamental recklessness. Why?

His VP candidate is one Sarah Palin, a woman who believes in witchcraft, and who in 2005 accepted the benevolence of Rev Thomas Muthee. It's all on YouTube, and has been seen by millions...

"The video shows Mrs Palin standing before Bishop Thomas Muthee in the pulpit of the Wasilla Assembly of God church three years ago. She is holding her hands open while the bishop asks Jesus Christ to keep her safe from "every form of witchcraft" as she prepared to seek higher office.

"Come on, talk to God about this woman. We declare, save her from Satan," Bishop Muthee said as two attendants placed their hands on Mrs Palin's shoulders. "Make her way my God. Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus Use her to turn this nation the other way around."

----------

Good Lord. Why waste so much money on ads when you have a VP candidate -- just one more melanoma away from the Oval Office -- who believes in witchcraft??

It's ludicrous, profoundly un-American -- and no sensible American could possibly vote for such a crackpot.

Look at all the millions wasted on campaign efforts! It's disgusting when you think about the condition of our economy right now. Severe election reforms are needed: each candidate gets $2 million and three months to campaign, then voters go to the polls. Simple, done, it's fair and square. Obama overspending on his campaign .... that's just shades of things to come if he's elected. It's been reported that as Obama leads in polls, the stock market will continue to decline. People know Obama's policies will create huge government which in turn will inevitabley increase taxes (despite what he says) ... people are pulling their money out.

That he went to Chicago to learn how to be a leftist politician is the first little bit of proof. Second, he is a Marxist, as evidenced by his mentors, both personal and in textbooks. (There are no prosperous Marxist countries, in case you didn't know.) Third, he has absolutely no accomplishments other than juking the Democrotch party into nominating him. FACT SHEET: Unremarkable Military record of John Sidney McCain III
Both McCain III’s father and grandfather were Admirals in the United States Navy. His father
Admiral John S. ”Junior” McCain was commander of U.S. forces in Europe - later commander of
American forces in Vietnam while McCain III was being held prisoner of war. His grandfather
John S. McCain, Sr. commanded naval aviation at the Battle of Okinawa in 1945.
McCain III, like his father and grandfather, also attended the United States Naval Academy.
McCain III finished near the bottom of his graduating class in 1958.

McCain III lost five U.S. Navy aircraft
1 - Student pilot McCain III lost jet number one in 1958 when he plunged into Corpus
Christi Bay while practicing landings.
2 - Pilot McCain III lost another plane two years later while he was deployed in the
Mediterranean. ”Flying too low over the Iberian Peninsula, he took out some power lines
which led to a spate of newspaper stories in which he was predictably identified as the
son of an admiral.
3 - Pilot McCain III lost number three in 1965 when he was returning from flying a Navy
trainer solo to Philadelphia for an Army-Navy football game. McCain III radioed, ”I’ve got
a flameout” and ejected at one thousand feet. The plane crashed to the ground and
McCain III floated to a deserted beach.
4 - Combat pilot McCain III lost his fourth on July 29, 1967, soon after he was assigned to
the USS Forrestal as an A-4 Skyhawk combat pilot. While waiting his turn for takeoff, an
accidently fired rocket slammed into McCain Jr’s. plane. He escaped from the burning
aircraft, but the explosions that followed killed 134 sailors, destroyed at least 20 aircraft,
and threatened to sink the ship.
5 - Combat pilot McCain III lost a fifth plane three months later (Oct. 26, 1967) during his
23rd mission over North Vietnam when he failed to avoid a surface-to-air missile. McCain
III ejected from the plane breaking both arms and a leg in the process and subsequently
parachuted into Truc Bach Lake near Hanoi. After being pulled from the lake by the North
Vietnamese, McCain III was bayoneted in his left foot and shoulder and struck by a rifle
butt. He was then transported to the Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the Hanoi Hilton.

1973 New York Daily News labeled POW McCain III a “PW Songbird”
On McCain III’s fourth day of being denied medical treatment, slapped, and threatened with
death by the communist (they were demanding military information in exchange for medical
treatment), McCain III broke and told his interrogator, ”O.K., I’ll give you military information if you
will take me to the hospital.” U.S. News and World Report, May 14, 1973 article written by former
POW John McCain.
It was then that the communist learned that McCain III’s father was Admiral John S. McCain,
the soon-to-be commander of all U.S. Forces in the Pacific. The Vietnamese rushed McCain III to
Gai Lam military hospital (U.S. government documents), a medical facility normally unavailable
for U.S. POWs.
By Nov. 9, 1967 (U.S. government documents) Hanoi press was quoting McCain III describing
his mission including the number of aircraft in his flight, information about rescue ships, and the
order of which U.S. attacks would take place.
While in still in North Vietnam’s military hospital, McCain III gave an interview to prominent
French television reporter Francois Chalais for a series titled Life in Hanoi. Chalais’ interview with
McCain III was aired in Europe.
Vietnamese doctors operated on McCain’s Leg in early December, 1967.
Six weeks after he was shot down, McCain was taken from the hospital and delivered to a
U.S. POW camp,
In May of 1968, McCain III allowed himself to be interviewed by two North Vietnamese
generals at separate times.” May 14, 1973 article written by former POW John McCain
In August 1968, other POWs learned for the first time that John McCain III had been taken
prisoner.
On June 5, 1969, the New York Daily News reported in a article headlined Reds Say PW
Songbird Is Pilot Son of Admiral, “ . . . Hanoi has aired a broadcast in which the pilot son of
United States Commander in the Pacific, Adm. John McCain, purportedly admits to having
bombed civilian targets in North Vietnam and praises medical treatment he has received since
being taken prisoner . . .” The Washington Post explained McCain III’s broadcast: “The English-
Language broadcast beamed at South Vietnam was one of a series using American prisoners. It
was in response to a plea by Defense Secretary Melvin S. Laird, May 19, that North Vietnam treat
prisoners according to the humanitarian standards set forth by the Geneva Convention.”
In 1970, McCain III agreed to an interview with Dr. Fernando Barral, a Spanish psychiatrist
who was living in Cuba at the time.
The meeting between Barral and McCain III (which was photographed by the Vietnamese)
took place away from the prison at the office of the Committee for Foreign Cultural Relations in
Hanoi (declassified government document). During the meeting, POW McCain sipped coffee and
ate oranges and cakes with the Cuban.
While talking with Barral, McCain III further seriously violated the military Code of Conduct by
failing to evade answering questions ”to the utmost of his ability” when he, according government
documents, helped Barral by answering questions in Spanish, a language McCain had learned in
school. The interview was published in the in January 1970.

McCain III was released from North Vietnam March 15, 1973
In 1993, during one of his many trips back to Hanoi, McCain asked the Vietnamese not to
make public any records they hold pertaining to returned U.S. POWs. McCain III claims, that
while a POW, he tried to kill himself.

McCain III was awarded “medals for valor” equal to nearly a medal-and-a-half for each
hour he spent in combat
For 23 combat missions (an estimated 20 hours over enemy territory), the U.S. Navy awarded
McCain III, the son of famous admirals, a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit for Valor, a Distinguished
Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars, two Commendation medals plus two Purple Hearts and a
dozen service medals.
“McCain had roughly 20 hours in combat,” explains Bill Bell, a veteran of Vietnam and former
chief of the U.S. Office for POW/MIA Affairs -- the first official U.S. representative in Vietnam
since the 1973 fall of Saigon.
“Since McCain got 28 medals,” Bell continued, “that equals to about a medal-and-a-half for
each hour he spent in combat. There were infantry guys -- grunts on the ground -- who had more
than 7,000 hours in combat and I can tell you that there were times and situations where I’m sure
a prison cell would have looked pretty good to them by comparison. The question really is how
many guys got that number of medals for not being shot down.”
For years, McCain has been an unchecked master at manipulating an overly friendly and
biased news media. The former POW turned Congressman, turned U.S. Senator, has managed
to gloss over his failures as a pilot and his collaborations with the enemy to become America’s
POW-hero presidential candidate.

This debate should be pretty much irrelevant: O is at 360+ in all the electoral polls, ahead in virtually every battleground state (see Daily Kos today for the state-by-state numbers, they are incredible), and in play in states like VA and NC should be Mac's. The major national polls, Daily Kos, CNN, Gallup show O up 9-11. In fact, it is hard to figure out how Mac gets to 270, without winning states like VA, MI, and OH that he's not going to win.

Clearly the ONLY reason this is still competitive is the r card, introduced through the tired coding of Rev. Wright, Ayers, Resko, fistbumps, O's middle name, etc., etc. If the media wouldn't play along with this junk and call it out as the sewage it is, it would have no chance of working. But incredibly they give it print space and airtime, while ignoring things like Mrs. P's incitements to riot at campaign events. However, this turns out the media, especially George (Do you think Rev. Wright loves America as much as you do?)Stephanopoulos, Peggy (Don't pay attention to me directly contradicting on a TV "hot mike" what I just wrote yesterday) Noonan, and Gwen Awf-, er, Ifill (the moderator who forgot to moderate), are the big losers.

For those in early-voting states like OH, do not whine on Nov 5 that you didn't vote because you couldn't take leave, you couldn't get a ride to the polls, the machine was broken, the line was too long, "the Man" scared me away, blah, blah, blah. No excuse. No excuse. Shame on you. VOTE.

I've just looked at postings indicating that Republicans are whining...likely posted by someone that still thinks Gore won in 2000 and a member of the party that did not choose to run that "winner" in 2004. The same crowd who kicked around the idea of Obama being a great 2008 candidate after hearing one speech from him in 2004 before he was elected to the senate. Want to talk about whining and inexperience? The idea that it is a good candidate who must outspend their opponent by a 3 to 1 margin (and then expect them to have fiscal responsibility) seems like the easily mesmerized, misguided and mislead.

There's really no comparison between Obama and McCain...
Obama grew up poor, living on food stamps, put himself through college, then on to Harvard where he was President of the Harvard Law Review.....then instead of taking a high paying corporate job he decided to work in the poorest neighborhoods of Chicago helping the poor and unemployed.
McCain grew up in a rich privledged family, was a poor student and trouble maker, got to the Naval Academy simply because his grandfather was an admiral, then goofed off graduating 894 out of 899, fifth from the bottom of his class.
He was a reckless pilot crashing his first two planes (official record:pilot error) and became a "hero" only when shot down in Vietnam. When he returned to the US he discovered his wife had been in a serious accident and crippled for life. He began to cheat on her, finally finding his rich, young, blonde with $100 million in the bank. Dumped his devoted wife to marry his then mistress, now second wife Cindy.
What a guy!
Obama is a loving husband and father of two.
McCain dumped his crippled first wife with kids to boot. What a guy!

Yes, Barack Hussein is outspending McCain, and Yes, Barack Hussein is getting financial donations from the Muslim world, including Iran!

AMERICA IS IN DANGER!

OBAMA’S POLITICAL CAREER STARTED WITH HIS AFFILIATION WITH WILLIAM AYERS AND BERNARDINE DOHRN, THE UNREPENTANT TERRORISTS ... part of “The Weathermen” terrorist group which launched a campaign to bomb" the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. In the 90’s, both “Community Organizers” Ayers and Obama worked together for years, radicalizing the Chicago school system.

At a 1969 "War Council" in Flint, Michigan, Weatherman leaders Ayer and Bernardine Dohrn proclaimed that the time had come to launch a war against "Amerikkka". The Weather Underground went on to claim credit for some 25 bombings over the next several years, detonating explosives at the rebuilt Haymarket statue, a bathroom at the Pentagon, the Capitol barber shop, the New York City police headquarters, and a variety of other targets.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA’S CLOSE ASSOCIATION WITH RADICAL EXTREMISTS PUTS AMERICA IN DANGER of being taken over by a group of radical terrorists that would “change” America as Obama has promised;…but the change would be to fulfill the dreams of the Weathermen of overthrowing capitalism and launching a race war against the “white” United States.

AMERICANS OF ALL PARTIES MUST COME TOGETHER AND DEFEND OUR COUNTRY against dangerous terrorists and vote for a True American Patriot, John McCain!

AMERICA FIRST!

Washington Post Article on ACORN getting raided

By Mary Pat Flaherty
Nevada state officials on Tuesday morning raided the Las Vegas office of ACORN as part of an investigation into alleged voter fraud by the organization which conducts voter registration drives nationally in its work with low-income communities.

About seven agents from the offices of the Nevada Secretary of State and Attorney General served a search warrant and removed boxes and computers after being admitted by the landlord, said Bob Walsh, spokesman for Secretary of State Ross Miller. No ACORN staff was present during the raid, he said. Walsh would not describe what prompted the search.

Charles Jackson, a national spokesman for ACORN, said the group would have a response later Tuesday. ACORN stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

In July, the two Nevada state agencies involved in the raid, along with the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office for Nevada, formed a task force to target voter registration and election fraud and complaints over voter registration practices, potential voter fraud, and enforcement of laws regarding voter intimidation. The federal agents were not part of Tuesday's search, Walsh said.

ACORN's Las Vegas office, Walsh said, registers voters mainly in Clark County.

Registration drives conducted by ACORN in several states are under scrutiny by local elections officials for the accuracy of cards gathered by its workers.

The group also has been the object of heated denunciations from the Republican National Committee and the McCain campaign, which contend the group is attempting to overwhelm election officials with new registrations that are carelessly gathered and would enable unqualified voters to get on the rolls.

"It is very difficult to ascribe any other motive to the activities of ACORN other than to swamp the system with registrations cards" that range from illegible to being drawn from names from telephone listings or other public directories, said RNC Chief Counsel Sean Cairncross. Cairncross spoke during a telephone press conference on another ACORN voter drive in northwest Indiana that local news accounts report is under review by elections officers.

The ACORN drives, he said, "point to a lack of control in this organization" and "a willingness to go out and do this relentlessly."

"IF OBAMA WON'T PLAY BY THE RULES, YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO. "
-------
Obama said he would aggressively pursue a deal with McCain to accept public money IF BOTH parties could agree to terms such as restrictions on 527 groups so the playing field is fair. McCain wasn't willing to accept any terms so the deal was off.

BTW: McCain received a bank loan based on he receiving public money as the Presidential nominee then tried to renege on accepting public money but could not.

Obama has championed TRUE campaign finance reform by proving that even an unlikely candidate can win a major party nomination by taking donations from everyday people like myself and not being beholden to lobbyists or PAC groups.

Personally, I am glad he isn't using TAXPAYER money to fund his campaign.

Posted by: JRM2 | October 7, 2008 6:56 PM | Report abuse

UH? WHAT RULES DID OBAMA BREAK? Mccain was just too much of a coward to take a chance on raising money himself. He was also too stupid to learn a thing from the Obama campaign.
Mccain and his people are idiots. They sat back and watched what Obama did during the primary, with the use of the internet, raising money and everything else. Mccain saw how wildly over the top successful it was and sat there and did nothing, and still is doing nothing. He should have gone to his people and said, "Get us the best internet people in the business money is no object, I want them to analyze what Obama is doing from top to bottom and see how we can do it, maybe even better". Does he, NO. He sits back running a campaign based in the last century, literally. I have been in business all my life and have made tons of money. I didn't do it complaining about my competition. I did it by learning from them and doing it better, beating them at their own game. Mccain and his staff are totally incompetent. I don't want to here a thing about the text messaging and mining phone numbers. Want something to complain about? Ask why Mccain isn't doing it also. Ask what the hell you gave them all that money for, just to stand around at town hall meetings talking to 200 disinterested people. Complaining about Obama does not make your candidate more competent, it points out how incompetent he really is by comparison.

A few thoughts. Does anyone outside the base of the base, of the GOP take Palin seriously anymore ?

She's a political prop, nothing more or less. McBush winds the key in her back, feeds her the talking points and sends her out to partisan crowds to incite a riot. Whatever.

Polling now indicates that Obama is holding on to the traditional edge that Dems have with female voters, after a shift to McCain after he first named her as his running mate.

Once women found out what Palin was all about (and quickly), tight skirts, "fly" eyewear, a husband who wants Alaska to secede from the union, a with doctor to ward off her evil spirits, and an empty head, (oh she can see Russia from Alaska) her "bounce" went down faster than a h**ker on a Saturday night.

Veteran here too. Great post. And it doesn't even ask how much taxpayers spent for the 3 fighter jets McCain crashed (I'm leaving out the one that was lit up by ordinance on the aircraft carrier because that wasn't his fault, and the one he crashed in Viet Nam, because it would be unseemly to count that one - otherwise, we'd be figuring what 5 jet fighters cost).

Today Palin launched a bashing attack on Joe Biden, as he was attending the funeral of his wife's mother, who he was very close to. I don't think we have ever seen a monster like Sarah Palin in modern politics in who knows how long. At least not on the world stage. I have seen some really bad stuff in local politics but what we are seeing with Palin is truly shocking and she seems to top herself everyday.

She may single handedly turn this into a landslide for Obama. When her name is mentioned in public people don't just dislike her, they hate her. We were in a Wallgreens today and my wife had on an Obama shirt. As we were in line people began talking about politics and what they had to say was almost over the top. Once one lady said she didn't like Palin all hel& broke loose. They began tearing Palin apart. This was true hate. It takes a lot to create this kind hate in just everyday people but Palin has sure done it.

I can not believe that some of you believe that Obama is just some nice guy who happens to keep running into questionable characters with ugly past. The comment made about "Mr. Ayers not hurting anyone when the bombing took place" is incredible. The fact is not that anyone was hurt but that the man admits to such evils on his own country. Also- Obama was 8 yrs old when it happened but in his 40's when he recieved his friendship and campaign money from him. Wake up America- you are about to give power to the most deadliest type of terrorist, the kind that shakes your hand with one hand and plans your funeral with the other. Why doesn't the media play the ABC oops that Obama had when he slipped up and called himself a Muslim. Who do Muslims hate...yes us Americans. The ABC commentator corrects Obama and says you mean Christian and Obama says yes stuttering. Look up the ABC clip! If you like communism, socialism and terrorist, then I guess Obama would be your pick. Joshua 24:24 says but as for me in my house we will serve the Lord. Truth needs to be sought to be found, darkness lingers and is usaully exposed in the cracks. Look for the exposed light in what he says by the company he has kept. A preacher who hates whites, a terrorist friendship, a college collegue that hates Israel, the black panther party supporters, Acorn radicals and the list will increase if you seek the truth. The two sources I relayed, Newsweek and OpenSecrets.org, hardly qualify as right-wing conspiracy theorists, nor do I. I also mentioned Powerline, although I didn't rely on them, but they also are not typical Huffington Post style wing nuts. Their arguments are certainly conservative, but they are very nearly unassailable on the basis of facts, although they do make mistakes from time to time, unlike The One. Typically of liberals, you're into smears, not facts. When the facts don't shore up nonsensical liberal arguments, like 3/4 of Obama's money comes from donors under $107, you result to personal attacks. OpenSecrets.org is a factual, non-partisan organization. You are simply wrong about individual donation levels, and how they compare to the two candidates. You vote? Good for you. Too bad you don't base your vote on something more substantial than the whims of your immediate circle.

"I didn't know Jennifer Flowers"
"Paula Jones is just "trailer trash but we didn't have sex"
"I didn't have sex with that woman Monica"
And my personal favorite - "This is nothing but a right wing conspiracy."

Kind of sounds like

Obama -

"I didn't know Ayers was a terrorist"
"I didn't know Wright was a racist"
"I didn't know Rezko was a thug"
"I didn't know Davis was a communist"

To me the only intelligent question is - Is it that Obama is stupid or are liberals stupid?

The Obama money machine rolls on.

Barack has McBush back on his heels having to play defense in NC, CO, FL, MO and NV. In fact the RNC is having to spend money in several red states from 2004, trying to prevent an Obama electoral tsunami.

NH gone to Obama. NM gone to Obama. IA gone to Obama and OH starting to lean Obama's way.

Another 500 point drop in the Dow Jones today and all McPalin wants to talk about is Ayers and Wright.

Sorry and sad, but oh so predictable, the Rove-Schmidt filty political game plan.

It's still the economy S T U P I D !

Chris:
I think you need to factor in Obama's spending in the Omaha, Nebraska media market to view the true amount of money that Obama has spent in Iowa. I seriously doubt that Obama spent $350,000 only for the Nebraska, 2nd congressional disrict electoral vote. The Omaha media market reaches most of Western Iowa including Council Bluffs, the 7th most populous city of Iowa. You know very well that during the caucuses, many candidates rent their cars in Nebraska to avoid per-state spending limits. Omaha television stations also receive lots of advertisements before the caucuses.

Bottom line: Factor in the $350,000 to $0 spending by Obama in Omaha and McCain has been outspent in Iowa.

reality check:

More polls today show Barack Obama leading in some key red states:

• In Ohio, Public Policy Polling (D) gives Obama a 49%-43% lead over John McCain, with a ±2.8% margin of error. Three weeks ago, PPP had McCain ahead 48%-44%. Take this as further evidence to suggest that the economic crisis is knocking John McCain down in a lot of places.

• In Florida, Mason-Dixon gives Obama a narrow lead of 48%-46%, within the ±4% margin of error, not significantly changed from a 47%-45% Obama lead two-and-a-half weeks ago.

• In Nevada, Research 2000 has Obama ahead 50%-43%, with a ±4% margin of error. Two weeks ago, Obama had slim edge of 44%-43%.

All totaled, these three states have 52 electoral votes, and they all voted for George W. Bush in 2004.

Like I said before, I said give intellect a chance. In plain terms so you can understand, this means taking the time to read and understand a concept.

I didn't say McCain scares me at all. A DEM congress will keep him in check, so he can't muscle in his policies by throwing a temper tamntum like Bush is famous for (again fear based - "if you don't give me more tropps/money, we will be in danger by the "terrorists!") ooooohhh. scary indeed.

I clearly said that the primary strategy of McCain's campaign is based on fear.

And again, your post clear confirms what I'm saying....

Quit trying to use scare tactics, and vote on the issues....

Politics can be a nasty game when you start trying to use what people don't know against someone. I believe this will be the nastiest of them all to date. Just listen tonight.

Oh yeah.. another thing...

Thank you for the link to the article about Bill Ayers memoir. Did you read it?

"Mr. Ayers, who is 56, calls it a memoir, somewhat coyly perhaps, since he also says some of it is fiction."

So, now that he is getting a little publicity because he sat on a couple of community boards with Obama, he decides to cash in with a memoir. Probably somewhere in there he claims to be a great "friend" of Obama, or to have "launched" his political career.

And you are correct that the Weather Underground claimed responsibility for the bombing in 1972 at the Pentagon (which did little damage and harmed no one).

Please explain to me what your cute little quiz question has to do with current politics. Obama says he is not close to Ayers and they haven't met in at least 3 years. And oh, yeah, Obama was 10 years old at the time.

Barack Obama knew Ayres and vice versa.
Ayres is an unrepentant terrorist who had to operate outside the system for years- then he "chose" Obama so he could manipulate the system- from the INSIDE.
Obama endorsed a radical book written by Ayres- which promulgated given "lighter" sentences in the juvenile justice system- so that poor, young Black kids wouldn't get slapped by the system when they raped, murdered, sold drugs, stole- whatever.
Ayres and Dorhn lived in Barry's Hyde park neighborhood and everyone knew who they were- and they were welcomed.
Barry's kickoff for the Senate was in Ayres' living room.
Barry is now busy trying to throw Ayres under the bus.
Good luck- Chicago-Annenberg and all his meetings with Ayres to raise millions of dollars for radical causes have been brought to light.
He and his angry wife Michelle (America is a downright mean country)- sat in the Black Theology- white hating, America hating church of Rev GD America Wright - for over 20 years.
His "mentor" was thrown under the bus.
It's the company you keep, Barry.
Obama traveled to Kenya on the American taxpayer's tab- to help with his cousin's Jihad- Google Obama-Kenya-Odinga.
The resultant jihad ended in mass riots, rapes and death.
Why does Barry always get a pass from the mainstream media on all these traitorous leftist MARXIST activities?

Question: Do you know the difference between Barack Obama and Osama Bin Laden?
Answer: Nothing Really. The BOTH know people who bombed the Pentagon.
Obama- Inexperienced. Dangerous. Naive- and manipulated by terrorists.Arrogant-Elitist- MARXIST-SOCIALIST
Will bring our country down FROM the INSIDE.
Why do you think all these countries- who hate America so MUCH- are pushing for Barry to become president? So America becomes weak- and collapses. That's the plan. And they are well underway.

Sure, people can abuse the system and make illegal donations. But these things get checked, and the campaign returns the money.

I don't think I've hit $200 yet, but I filled out the form every time. And they have my credit card number. (That's how the campaign returns questionable donations, get it?) If the govt wanted to, they could trace those back to real people.

But here's the real reason your conspiracy-theory harping doesn't ring true: There are millions of people like me who have donated small sums, and they all know people who have donated small sums. Just because in your right-wing circles anyone who donated to Obama will deny it to your face, doesn't mean that those donors don't exist. We do. And we vote.

It's not that Obama's a poor candidate.

The fact that Obama is just now starting to pull ahead shows what a powerful force FEAR is.

McCain's strategy has been directly from Rove's playbook - using fear to influence the masses....

Obama has been running a solid and respectful campaign and he's holding his own - even with the Republican machine using fear as it's primary campaign weapon.

Rock On Obama!

I can't wait to see the look on McCain's, Rove's, Bush's, and especially Palin's faces when President Obama takes office. I also cant' wait to see what happens when lobbyists are stripped of their power.

gschwartz1 writes:

"Question to KMichaels, you mean because the Bush-McCain approach has worked so well?

Nine straight months of job loss.
A tsuanami of home foreclosures.
46 million uninsured and one in five people who can't pay medical bills.
The greatest income gap since the last stock market crash.
Health insurance premiums going up 10 times faster than wages.
That little Wall Street problem."

This is your typical mindless blather coming from an Obamite. Notice that this idiot figures that every expense in America must be attributed to Republicans.

Notice too that this idiot Obamite has not offered any specifics on how Obama will improve anything. Why? Because Obama himself does not offer many specifics. And on those that he does he outright lies and or makes vain promises that he knows he cant keep.

Now some points to consider

1) Nine straight months of job loss.

Answer: with the subprime loan crisis created by the Democrats then we will have some job loss. 6.1% unemployment is higher than it has been but still remarkably small compared to Carter rates around 12-14%.

2) A tsuanami of home foreclosures.

Again, DEMOCRATS have their hands very bloody in this mess. They enabled Fannie and Freddie to buy up 50% of the subprime loans. Franks, Dodds and most other democrats prevented regulation to control Fannie and Freddie. McCain wanted regulation and democrats were dead against it. Now the Dems voting base is having their homes forclosed they are too stupid to see that it was the DEMOCRATS that brought them this mess in the first place.

3) 46 million uninsured and one in five people who can't pay medical bills.

I dont see any of the liberal elites volunteering any of their own money to insure people. I do see Obama promising that more of somebody elses tax money will be spent to hand out yet even more social programs to an ever growing non-working class. I dont see how this will help our economy. Our taxes are high enough already.

4) The greatest income gap since the last stock market crash.

The number of actual poor, based on actual living conditions has gone consistently down. Mind you, Democrats keep changing the definition of what poor is in order to pander to the cheap votes. They are even busing in the poor to make sure they vote for Obama. These are people that have no clue who to vote for but are being told that if they take a ride and vote for Obama then all will get better.

5) Health insurance premiums going up 10 times faster than wages.

Not just a slight exageration but going up because of retarded democrat policies on mostly legal issues. And Obama is in favor of more legal expenses being heaped upon the health industry. Then Obama's solution is to go socialistic and make it an even bigger mess. Yeah, that will help, ask Putin.

6) That little Wall Street problem

Again, caused by idiot Democrats anxious to pander to their poor and unedecated base insisting that they get loans that they cant afford so that they can all equally have homes that get foreclosed on.

If McCain or Obama wins several good things will happen so people need to relax:

The 1965 Hart-Celler Immigration Act will be expanded
Affirmative Action Increased (Yes McCain supports Affirmative Action)
Undocumented Workers will be given a path to citizenship (McCain-Kennedy anyone?)
The H-1B Visa will be increased from 85,000 to 300,000
Low interest loans to minority business owners will be increased
The military budget will be decreased (McCain sees a lot of wasteful spending there)
We will leave Iraq (except a little slower under McCain)
There will be no drilling on ANWR
Israel will be protected
Iran will be contained with economic sanctions

Why does anyone really care who wins? On the big issues they essentially agree with each other.

This organization published unpleasant little facts about U.S. corporations, outsourcing, the L-1 and H1-B visaa. Like HP is currently laying off more than 14,000 U.S. workers and actively recruiting (surprise!) an identical number of Indian workers.

"...the San Jose Mercury News reported that 50% of U.S. tech workers have been displaced from the profession. "
(This is born out by independent assessments of DOL figures.)

"Computer science expert Dr. Norman Matloff provided ample proof to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration, that H-1B aliens depress wages for all workers. He cited a UCLA study that H-1B engineers were paid 33 percent less than comparable Americans, a Cornell study that found wages 20-30 percent less, and a Forbes Magazine report that H-1B wages are 25-30 percent less."

CNET reportsm that the unemployment rate for U.S. born hi-tech professionals is DOUBLE the overall rate compared to the rest of the work force.

And, a Stanford University study indicates that, even if we deported every H1-B and L-1 guest worker AND banned all outsourcing, there would still be a ratio of 1.5 U.S. workers for every job!

So, instead of lies and vile garbage, blaming U.S. hi-tech workers for their plight, endagering the very future of this country with your insane boosting of this legalized treason, why don't you just leave? Too lazy to do a Google search? Why not challenge one of the other facts, such as Obama's sleezy first campaign? Anyway, here's just one of many, this one from Newsweek, which exposes two such donors, mentions Palestinian donors, and explains why additional such 'evidence' is hard to come by due to Obama's crooked, felonious campaign shielding $200 donors, despite voluntary full disclosure by McCain:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/162403

There are many equally reputable reports, most of which are attempting to shield Obama even while relating similar facts. Not to mention the right-wing bloggers who are having a field day, particularly the lawyers over on PowerLine, the same guys who sank Rather's forged documents.

I note you have not asked ANY Obama supporter, despite dozens of broad, unsupported claims, for evidence. Apparently you are not interested in facts, but were seeking to discredit me without providing rational argument. Typical liberal. If you were Detective Friday, I could hear "Not the facts, ma'am."

KMichaels,

And I will admit to disagreeing with the way they compiled old polls and averaged them when some were clearly outliers. I think there is more polling now and more people have a firmer opinion, so there will be less volatility in the coming weeks.

As for your odd comparison, thanks for proving what I said about non sequiters.

But it doesn't fly in any case, because Bill Ayers never bombed the Pentagon--he may have conspired to, but it was never carried out. And that's allowing for you to conflate "friend" and "acquaintance."

For your information, Senator Obama has commanding leads in the states with the highest level of earnings and education. And we are learning more and more sources of Obama's campaign donations are illegal. This story is growing legs, From Palistinian brothers with terrorist ties to people making up nonsensical names and donating large sums of money.

Also, ACORN, the community organization Obama used to work with in Chicago are now under federal investigation in Las Vegas for voter fraud. And scrutiny is on ACORN in Ohio as volunteers are picking up homeless people, feeding them and telling them to vote for Obama. We are at the cusp of this election fraud story. Should they grow legs, the polling will dramatically shift.

And now, the media have to decide if they will ignore these stories and jeapordize their reputations, or cover them.

Nine straight months of job loss.

Health insurance premiums going up 10 times faster than wages.
That little Wall Street problem.

Financial Rescue: Democrats created the mortgage crisis by forcing banks to give loans to people who couldn't afford them. Now Obama and Biden want bankruptcy judges to bail out the same deadbeat homeowners. And once again, Barney Frank is helping.

In the vice presidential debate, Sen. Joe Biden said that "what we should be doing now — and Barack Obama and I support it — we should be allowing bankruptcy courts to be able to re-adjust not just the interest rate you're paying on your mortgage to be able to stay in your home, but be able to adjust the principal that you owe, the principal you owe."

To get this bill passed, Obama made a lot of phone calls — particularly to members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including caucus chief Rep. James Clyburn — assuring this would happen.

Those paying their mortgages on time don't get that break.

Rep. Elijah Cummings said Obama told him that, if elected president, he would direct a Treasury Department official to work with homeowners in foreclosure to restructure their loans. Cummings said Obama also told him he'd seek changes in bankruptcy laws allowing judges to reduce what borrowers owe on their home loans.

Section 110 of the rescue legislation has the Orwellian title of "Assistance to Homeowners" — but only for the deadbeats.

It describes somebody called a "Federal property manager" who "holds, owns or controls mortgages, mortgage-backed securities, and other assets secured by residential real estate."

Section 110 speaks of "modifications" that this manager can make to these mortgages including not only the reduction of interest rates but the reduction of loan principal.

Not only is Uncle Sam now the world's largest landlord. He can also arbitrarily set the value of property and the amount owed on it at will, thus distorting the free market.

The vast majority of homeowners who pay their mortgages on time get the shaft. They're the ones who'll take up the others' slack.

Why? And why is the Community Reinvestment Act still law?

this is what the Libs are preparing to do to our economy.

If Sarah Palin wasn't a secessionist, then why was she palling around with them?
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eniG9l_7its
.

So here's the question: when will Sarah Palin ever explain what she was doing palling around with the Alaskan Independence Party secessionists? When will she explain why Todd Palin -- who plays a huge role in her administration -- was a member of the party for so long?

Does she oppose secession now, if so, when did she change her mind?

The problem for Sarah Palin is that she hasn't answered any of these questions, and when (if) she finally starts to answer them, her answers will be news.

So even if her silly new strategy were gaining short-term traction -- which it isn't -- it would be stupid in the long run because her false attacks on old news about Barack Obama are reopening questions into current news about her.

But I guess that's what you get when you have a ticket headed by dishonorable numbskulls like Palin and McCain.

But I do see where simplistic voters such as Obamites can get caught up in one liners.

The bigger issue is why did Obama not support McCain two years ago when McCain wanted to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Fannie and Freddie are at the heart of the subprime lending crisis that is going on today.

I have a hard time believing there's a significant correlation between ads and polling. I just can't believe voters are making their decisions based on the sometimes true, sometimes false claims in ads. As Chris points out himself, Obama is doing well even in states where McCain is outspending him.

While ads must serve some purpose (otherwise why would the campaigns be spending so much money on them?), I trust voters are making decisions based on real information, not ads. I think the economic downturn, coupled with Obama's calm intellectual approach to it has helped him, while McCain's gaffes, his bluster and his temperment have hurt him with voters.

Now, it is an undeniable fact that 3/4 of Obama's campaign funds comes from donations amounting to $107 and under while 3/4 of McCain's donations come from large corporate donors and wealthy individuals.

Posted by: mibrooks27 | October 7, 2008 3:58 PM | Report abuse

Not true. From OpenSecrets.com (and others), while Obama statistics show individual donations of $200 or less at just over 50% of his current total, that doesn't support your false claim of "3/4 under $107", nor does even that tell the entire story.

Individual contributions indicate one check from one party; some of Obama's donors in that category sent many checks, often dozens, and several (yes, many more than 2) under fraudulent names that the campaign made no attempt to identify or return until exposed- and even now, the campaign attempts to shield illegal donations. Nor does this differentiate bundlers of small donors, of which Obama has at least 509. Group donations for Obama are led by the finance sector, followed closely by law lobbies. Interesting, given the financial meltdown due in part to financial and legal maneuvering by Obama's chief corporate donors. While attention has been paid to the fact that Obama received the second largest donations from Freddie/Fannie, that's really just the tip of the iceberg.

Regarding McCain, his contributions are also just about evenly distributed between corporate and individual donors. Not a lot of dead and/or ficticious donors, which may account for the slight edge to Obama in personal donors, but "3/4 corporate"? Puh-lease. If you're going to lie, at least have the decency to lie about something that isn't so easily disproved.

This is not a surprise; Obama is, of course, a bare-knuckle small-time Chicago con artist who scammed his first election by getting his Democratic opposition disqualified through a sneaky legal dodge. No doubt during the voting, Obama will enjoy strong support from the dead, as is customary under the Chicago machine for at least the last 100+ years.

To claim that Obama is 3/4 dependent on donors of $107 or less is simply false. To claim that McCain is 3/4 dependent on corporate donars is equally false. Both lies are demonstrably unsupportable.

Chris, a math correction:

"Obama disbursed a little more than $3 million in the Keystone State last month as compared to $1.2 million in ad spending by McCain and another $807,000 by the RNC. It adds up to a million-dollar edge for Obama on television -- meaning that he outspending Republican by roughly 33 percent in Pennsylvania."

Actually that read: "by roughly 50 per cent". The difference between Obama and McCain is approx. $1MM, which is half of McCain's combined total.

tw46 - I would think that you NeoCons would at least be better with your lies. First off, 90% of new engineering hires in this country are H1-B workers. At tye same time, over 50% of our own engineers, most of whom have better technical talents, cannot get work! The reason is pretty simple, and you are welcome to check the DOL site to verify this, those Indian indentured servants are single and work an average of 6 says per week, 11 hours per day. And that is the average. They are also paid an average of $37,500 per year, about 1/3 less than their U.S. counterparts. The U.S. workers displaced by them are 45 years old or older, and have families and cannot work the unimaginable hours of their slave replacements without endangering the stability of their families (bit, it's surprising how many tried, anyways, with the predictable results). Because most hi-tech firms are self insured, it is cheaper to hire workers with no dependents AND, whereas it is difficult to fire a U.S. worker with a sick child or spouse (all of those medical costs! But it is done anyways.) it is perfectly okay to do so with one of those H1-B workers, who are ALL "at will" employees. So, I call you names because you are dishonest and treasonous, becasue you hate this country and the people in it. I *strongly* urge you to leave. You don't belong here. You don't share our values. If it were up to me, I would jerk your citizenship in a heatbeat and deport you to India or some other place you so obviously belong.

Or...white privilege is the only thing that could possibly allow someone to be neck and neck with Obama when he has voted with George W. Bush 90 percent of the time, even as unemployment is skyrocketing, people are losing their homes, inflation is rising, and the U.S. is increasingly isolated from world opinion, just because white voters aren’t sure about that whole “change” thing. Ya know, it’s just too vague and ill-defined, unlike, say, four more years of the same, which is very concrete and certain.

I have voted in eleven Presidential elections and Yes I have voted Republican every time, but I have never seen an election like this one. Obama has in his corner every major newspaper and television network (including "news" programs, talk shows, and even award shows) along with the Hollywood "elite" using all their face time either praising Obama or bashing Republicans and pouring their "filthy lucre" into his campaign. All of the above are shameless in their vitreol and deception. IF John McCain/Sarah Palin win this election, it should prove once and for all that there is a huge silent majority of solid conservatives out there who ignore the stupid poles, ignore the distorted plather of the libs, and just patriotically show up on election day and vote. This will be a mandate for McCain (Rocky Balboa)and his values and a slapdown of the brazen liberal left wing. This is my forty-four voting years of observation and my personal opinion which I highly respect.

One more thing...since McCain only started bringing it up in 1999, and Alexander Solzhenitsyn was relating the same story in the 70s, why does John McCain feel the need to even lie about his time in the Hanoi Hilton?

The cross-in-the-sand story was borrowed from Solzhenitsyn. Otherwise, why would it not show up in McCain's earlier comments on the subject? I mean, such a profound event and all.

The cowed media won't touch it, but it is worth investigating.

Thank you John McCain for opening the door to talk about character. I would love to know what your first wife is thinking right now.

It's bad enough that McCain has knuckled under to the same people (Bush/Karl Rove) who trashed his family so bad in 2000 that, according to his wife, his adopted daughter was in tears. John McCain won't even stand up for his own family, and he doesn't have the guts to look Obama in the eye. McCain learned the wrong lessons from the 2000 GOP primary, thinking that all he had to do was win a race to the bottom in order to win the highest office in the country. Now, he's a prisoner of the same people who abused him before, and he's losing.

John McCain sold his soul and he has nothing to show for it. No wonder he's lashing out.

For all these reasons, the thing to highlight tonight is that John McCain, after bouncing from gimmick to gimmick, is freaking out. John McCain is a desperate loser and tonight, you'll practically be able to smell it. Get the screenshots ready, there'll be YouTube summaries. McCain is going go get nasty and that will be the end of him. He's trapped between needing to lash out and needing to live down his reputation for being a volatile idiot.

After years of supporting corruption and violence, McCain's career is nearly over, and he's willing to do anything to delay the final verdict. The problems of the country aren't even on McCain's mind. For McCain, it's all about McCain. This election is about crowning his biography.

His campaign and his policies show that John McCain doesn't give a damn about this country.

What is up with this transparently racist hate and ignorance-baiting?

Folks, if you don't like Obama's proposals--or McCain's, for that matter--fair enough. Don't care for either man's record? Seems like that would apply.

But when racial epithets (or epithets based on any attribute, including age or gender) start flying during a rally, the campaigns have an obligation to stop them before they go anywhere. That's how a rally becomes a mob. To not do that is irresponsible and equates to complicity.

We're better than that--ALL of us. We need to dial it back.

It must be hard to take for the McCain campaign: so much of what Obama recommends turns out to be so close to what both sides decide is the best for our country, while so much of what McCain recommends turns out to cost our country a disaster that requires expensive bailouts and expensive surges. The Poor Judgment of the Keating Five scandal is so similar to the poor judgment of the deregulation McCain supported to bring on todays economic disaster. Neglect of hard studies and preference for the McCain style quicky decisions has cost us so much from lost planes due to neglect of flight manual study to loss of life and limb due to neglect of intelligence information study.

We are far too lax about the idea of having a president from the bottom of his class, a lesson we have learned the hard way. The special interest lobby group understands how to take advantage hiring those from the top of their class while encouraging simplistic attitudes that neglect the complex ideas that can weaken our country. We need a president who can analyze and communicate to lead our country's advisors in making well thought out decisions for us, not one from the bottom of his class who makes statements like “I know how to win a war.” with a straight face.

Outspending McCain and the lateset Zogby and CBS polls only show a 3-4% lead? That is not to good. I still love the facts that Ohio democrats are driving homeless drunks to vote. Another ACORN office gets raided for vote fraud, (Obama worked for them and registered 150,000 people, how many were real how many were fake?) 17 times President Bush called for more regulation on Freddie and Fannie 17 times the vote went on party lines. 2005 McCain stood on the senate floor calling for more regulation and the vote did not pass because democrats would not vote for the bill (60 votes needed in the senate) While an Illinois senator, Harvard graduate Barrack Obama voted wrong 6 times, he claims he pushed the wrong button! Yes or No Barrack, not hard to read. I predict this election will have more voter fraud than any since Kennedy in 1960 and we all know what city helped Kennedy win the election, Barrack Obama's home town!

OK, K of Z, here is the Wikipedia entry describing how they select the editors of the Harvard Law Review:

------------------
Using a competitive process that takes into account first-year grades, an editing exercise, and a written commentary on a court decision, The Harvard Law Review selects between 41 and 43 editors annually from the second-year Law School class, which numbers 560.

Two editors from each of first-year class's seven sections (fourteen in all) are selected half by their first year grades and half by their scores on the writing competition. Another twenty are selected solely on their scores on the writing competition. The other seven to nine are selected by a discretionary committee, either to fulfill the review's race-based affirmative action program, to select students who just missed the cut by either of the other two processes, or by some other criteria as the committee sees fit.
----------------

See how they use their grades to select editors? And then to be elected President of the Law Review, you have to convince enough of these smart law students that you are the best one for the job.

Not an exercise in affirmative action. As opposed to, say, having your Daddy get you into Annapolis.

Sending them home denies U.S. companies of those 21st Century indentured servants and forces them to hire American workers...immediately. Adding punative taxes and duties, bring back tariff's, will make it extremely difficult for those same companies to pull up roots and move. We would be copying the Scandinavian economic model - full employment, low taxes on companies that employ Scandinavian nationals and taxes until they bleed on companies that don't. Oh, and little extra's like NO NATIONAL DEBT, the best health care system in the world, low crime rates, welfare cases almost unheard of, etc. Likewise, forcing our public universities to take U.S. nationals as students in programs necessary for our very survival, instead of ponying up to a feeding trough set for them by foreign money, isn't just sensible, it's a national security issue! This is a misleading headline. Obama is outspending McCain becasue milllion and milllions of ordinary people, just like me, keep sending him money to spend! Most of us are frightened to death of McCain and Palin and Bush and the entire rats nest of NeoCons that have run this country into a ditch. The RNC and McCain camp, I might note, have filed formal complaints against the OIbama campaign because, out of the millions of $100 donations, there may be one or two that are illegal (and are likely the result of an RNC dirty trick). Now, it is an undeniable fact that 3/4 of Obama's campaign funds comes from donations amounting to $107 and under while 3/4 of McCain's donations come from large corporate donors and wealthy individuals. One of the nce things about the economic meltdown is that these self serving snakes have less money with which to interfere with politics while the rest of us will do without new shoes or going out to dinner or just plain food, to ensure an Obama victory. We're not fanatical, we're desparate!

Remember all of the pundits who said Obama's decision to opt out of public financing wouldn't net him much of an advantage? Right. While McCain was blowing his wad on advertising in July and August, Obama was spending his money on building ground game. Now McCain's out of money, still with a minimal field operation, and he's about to get buried.

Joe Biden, 2002:
“I do not believe this is a rush to war. I believe it is a march to peace and security. ... (Saddam Hussein) possesses chemical and biological weapons and is seeking nuclear weapons.” Further, Biden insisted: “We must be clear with the American people that we are committing to Iraq for the long haul; not just the day after, but the decade after.” There it is, pal, Joe Biden, man of principles.

Darn facts interfering with messiahs lies:

Vice presidential candidate Barack Obama's chief strategist, David Axelrod, said yesterday that Obama "didn't know the history" of domestic terrorist bomber William Ayers' activities in the violent Weather Undergroud movement when he attended a political event at Ayers' home in 1995. CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, however, did an investigation into Obama's ties to Ayers, and found that there's a lot more to the story than the Obama campaign lets on.

If the difference is $1 million and McCain spends $2 million - then Obama is outspending McCain by 1/2 = 50 percent. Not 33 percent.

a look ahead:

As an Illinois state legislator, Sen. Barack Obama secured at least $300,000 to fund projects that benefited friends, relatives and contributors. Those projects included a botanical garden that was never built, a church with a controversial pastor and an organization headed by Michelle Obama’s cousin.

Perhaps the only good thing about the last 8 years, the right has lost the ability to control the nation's perceptions by lying. The GOP has controlled the House for all but 20 months of the last 14 years. They've controlled the White House for the last 8 years, and also had control of both houses of Congress for 4 of those years... McCain supported a war that has cost 600 billion, will cost a trillion, and favors US imperialism over US economic self sufficiency. He has generally supported Bush's economic plans and policies that run counter to economic development and any real care for the middle class.

What the writer fails to mention is, the Republican National Committee has three times as much money to spend on generic (not directly from McCain Headquarters) to bash McCain on television, a use of funds that McCain used to condemn, before he found using it to his advantage. In fact, the Republicans have much more money than the Democrats and they can use it wherever they wish.

Hey there, 37th and Q Avenue. Care to back up your assertion that Obama made it into school (I guess) on the basis of skin color?

I didn't think so.

BB

Just another big mysterious hole in the messiahs resume. he refuses to release his records. why?

did he do worse than bush in school? He had to do better than Kerry and Gore. could be that drug dealing beef on his dorm record???? or perhaps the membership in the young communists.

Sure is a riot reading all the spitting sarcasm as the right-wing trolls melt down in the radiance of Obama's advance.

The only sure thing he proved with real Records not with just words is he is Best at

Raising money and Spending money.

Make no mistake, he will continue to prove,

He will be a champion at raising tax.

He will be a champion at spending it away.

"He also outspent hillary by large margins and still lost all the late states. this election marks the end of the influence of the angry left media. you tube has vanquished that ignorance. the voters are figuring out that Obama is an empty promise."

Once North Carolina was over, Obama stopped seriously campaigning against Clinton. That's probably the main reason she won much of the remaining states.

Smart move for him. He had the thing wrapped up and could use that money for the general election.

People love Obama. They just need to get to know him first.

Now that my state (MI) is no longer a battleground, I can be proud that my modest contributions have been added to those of millions of Americans who know who the next president should be. And that money is going to counter the smear-job lies that McCain is putting on TV.

And btw, all you fiscal conservatives should be thanking Obama for saving the US taxpayers $84 million. Perhaps it is a huge waste of money, but at least Obama isn't wasting TAXPAYER money.

There's never been a campaign based on so many giving from the ground up. It's startling.

I know of two people who are unemployed and still sent in $10 and $15 because it's that important to them. It really is the most uplifting campaign I've seen in my lifetime.

I can't wait to pay my World Poverty Tax when Obama is elected. I wonder how much I'll receive. ??!! Also can't wait for "empathetic" judges who "bend the rules" to do the "right thing" for "social justice." Can't wait for more Maxines, Alcee Hastings, William Freezer Jeffersons, John Conyers, Charles Rangels and so forth including Reps who believe we landed men on . . . Mars. Can't wait for more govt. paid pre-school to steal what little remains of childhood. Can't wait for efficiently run healthcare, efficient like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Can't wait for those secret labor union votes that won't be secret anymore (vote, or else!). Can't wait for everything to become Affordable.

Well, you can thank your god-like hero, Karl Rove for teaching us in 2000 and 2004 that

MONEY WINS ELECTIONS

Ole' Popeye should have known this.

Thanks Rove, for showing us 'the way'.

Now that we know how to win, let's go out to BarackObama.com and donate another $50 bucks or so!!!

What a waste of money......

Remember when Obama promised that he would adhere to the public financing schedule?

Another LIE by Obama - now we have to sit through all these additional commercials.

Remember that Obama talks the talk, however when it comes to walking the walk, Obama is no where to be found.

Obama is a FRAUD - his dissing of the public campaign finance structure after pledging to adhere to it is a DISGRACE AND SHOWS OBAMA IS UNTRUSTWORTHY AND THE PUBLIC SHOULD NOT PLACE THEIR TRUST IN THIS AFFIRMATIVE ACTION GUY WHO USED TO BUY COCAINE.

Obviously financial events are aiding Obama. And while he's certainly helping his cause by advertising in all these markets, his opponent is helping as well. McCain is losing the ear of the public and Palin is scaring people. Add to that W's ever increasing unpopularity and irrelevance and Obama is almost a winner by default....

after the last 8 years (the economy, iraq, guantanamo, torturegate, bush doctrine, darfur, privatize social security, no bin laden, immigration mess, blackwater, housing crisis, jack abramoff, abu graib, unemployment, pat tillman, halliburton, medicare pt D, executive compensations, larry craig, stem cell research veto, outsourced manufacturing, katrina, walter reed decay, global warming denials, us attorney firings, energy task force, karl rove, valerie plame, foley page scandal, greeted as liberators, mission accomplished, enron, swift boating, everything dick cheney has done), it's almost an embarrassment that the American people would consider giving the keys of the car to the same shoot first, ask questions later crowd. if you don't think America can be better than that, you should vote republican, the rest of us will vote Obama 08 and help put this country's future back in the hands of its great people.

fox news now beats CBS on occasion, the NYTimes is in the toilet and not trusted by anyone, their stock is almost worthless. conservative books dominate and talk radio is flourishing.

Despite all the hope for change, we don't want THAT kind of change. all the foreign money in the world will not alter that perception.
