Richardson: 'I Am Not the Scripted Candidate'
Bill Richardson acknowledged his recent stumbles on the campaign trail but sought to paint himself as the candidate who comes through when the chips are down.
"I'm making at this rate about one mistake a week," said Richardson. "I make a lot of misstatements. I am not the scripted candidate."
Richardson's pitch is -- in essence -- that he may not be the buttoned-down choice but he is the one with demonstrated results. It's an intriguing strategy that seeks to turn his foibles into strengths -- he tells it like it is.
The Fix isn't sure he made the case all that effectively with that answer, however.
