Safer Now Than Before 9/11?
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) dodged a question about whether the government was doing anything to make Americans safe.
"We need to have a better infrastructure in order to protect us," said Clinton, deliberately not taking the bait to reiterate her assertion that America is safer today than it was before Sept. 11, 2001.
Not so fast, said Sen. Barack Obama (Il..). "I don't believe we are safer now than we were before September 11," said Obama. "We went into Iraq, a war we never should have authorized and never should have been waged."
"I want us to fight on the right battlefield," Obama added.
Not a direct confrontation but a contrast for sure. Is it a sign of things to come?
