And we're off....

The Fix is off today -- traveling to Philadelphia to give a talk to impressionable college kids at the University of Pennsylvania.

(And, yes, we MAY watch a bit of basketball too. Hoya Saxa!)

Enjoy the day. We'll be back tomorrow with a Friday Line dedicated to the top 15 governors races in the country!

Next: Five myths about health care

Comments

Good article, the Five myths about health care reform. The most important one to those in Congress who are voting this weekend is: will this vote damage my chances for re-election in the Fall? The answer is NO! This bill will gain in popularity as it ages.

Koolkat, I live and breath in Philthydelphia.

Tony Luke's is tops. They have a few seats under cover, but all up and down Oregon Avenue you'll see people eating off the hoods of their cars. And not just at the curbs: it is a Sout' Philly tradition to park your cars up the middle of the street as well. In the summer, when it gets hot, you just park a little up the street, in the shade of the I 95 overpass, and enjoy your san'wich and a cold one in the cool roar, which is free.

The CBO numbers are a BIG LIE - how many ACCOUNTING TRICKS ARE IN THOSE NUMBERS.

Obama has got to be kidding.

The health care bill is the ENRON OF ALL GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS - DO NOT BE FOOLED.

Lipinski said that the Stupak block is holding - that means Obama has high hurdles in his way - in fact, there are about 221 No votes right now.

So Obama has to change 5 votes from no to yes.

Plus Obama has to get 10 undecideds to go yes - and these are people who are afraid that this vote will make them lose the November election. They do not want to do it. They want to vote NO, and try to win in November - they think they can pull through.

Right now, Obama is trying to re-write the talking points and convince people of the bill.

The public has tuned Obama out - no one wants to hear this. They want to hear Obama talk about the economy and jobs - and everytime they hear health insurance, the public says to themselves "this guy is out-of-touch" - Obama is doing nothing but re-enforce that perception. It is a complete disaster - and Obama is destroying the democratic party right now.

margaretmyers: Word is you can get a fantastic roast pork sandwich with broccoli rabe and aged provolone at Taylor Gourmet on H St NE and K St @ 5th St NW. I plan to walk over to the K St branch now that the weather is nice.

Bread is from Sarcone's in Philly!

Philly people (I'm not one) say it's as good as any you can get in Philly.
