"Politics and Pints" is tonight!!!

The Fix is taking today off to prepare for tonight's "Politics and Pints" -- our monthly night of trivia and general merriment.

The festivities get underway at the Capitol Lounge at 7 pm. Team registration is first come, first serve and it's usually pretty crowded so get there a little earlier to ensure you get a spot! Teams can be as small as one person and as large as six. Don't worry if you don't have a team; we'll find you a good group to join up with.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners, the runners-up and the team with the best name.

Since we go through rigorous physical and mental preparation for our "Politics and Pints" hosting duty -- we kid, sort of -- posting will be light for the remainder of the day.

Not as impressive as Palin's "Going Rogue".

So when Obama mentioned that he is reading the Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, the book was ranked at about 11,000 on Amazon.com (like noonish, I think). Now the book is at like 2,400. That's not quite Oprah impressive, but pretty damn good. And I'll go out on a limb and assume the author didn't just go out and buy ten thousand copies of his own book to boost his rank ten years after publication.

Mr Cillizza, make sure nobody drops their cigarette butts on the floor. They might burn the hands of liberals as they leave.

What is this a trivia game ?

How many states does Obama give stimulus dollars to ? 57

How far is a liberal mile ? One socialist kilometer

How does Obama balance the budget? 10 years of taxes against 7 years of expenses.

Where in the bill does Obama give us the "doctor fix"? Not, sure, but we know it is off-budget.

Why is Rahm naked in the shower with Massa ? Let Rahm tell us.........

Is Palin's tax assessment a category in tonight's "Politics and Pints"?! I would have thought that Rahm Emanuel and Eric Massa in the nude more relevant . . .

Chris Matthews Show, until the cyber Czar gets it.
Dan Rather: "When you talk about a triumph though, part of the undertow in the coming election is going to be President Obama's leadership and the Republicans are making a case, a lot of independents will buy this argument, listen he just hasn't been...look at the health care bill, it was his number one priority, it took him forever to get it through and he had to compromise it to death and a version of ...listen, he's a nice person, he's very articulate, this was going to be used against him. But He couldn't sell watermelons if you gave him if you gave him a State Trooper to flag down traffic..."

As if Republicans would be cordial with Democrats. You'll be lucky if they don't show up with guns.

is there any R who isn't a deadbeat and liar?

back-tax hell. Apparently she and Todd own a spot of land on Safari Lake in Petersville, Alaska. They regularly pay taxes on the land, but forgot to mention to the assessor that there are three buildings on the property. One cabin is bigger than most homes in Alaska. The Palin's call them barely-there buildings.

Perhaps she has been shopping at Neiman's and flying private jets too long to discern the difference? AP reports that the land was valued between 2007 and 2009 for about $30K. The Palin's never revealed that there were structures on the property to the assessor's office. Most cabins in that area are about 500 square feet, unlike this one. Large cabins, while not selling like hotcakes, are on the market for well over $200K.

cilizza - taking the day off to prepare for a night of drinking?

I think this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are a dyed in the wool liberal.

and that political muckracking is your calling.

When Barry found out that he would have to pay his own tab, he declined.

BTW, what ever happened to that million dollar prize that was going to "charity". Never showed up. Typical Barry.

In fairness though, He will be unemployed for life in about three years and his ghost won't write another book after being dissed for morals czar.

cilizza, is there a Liberal version of this where we can get free beer? I didn't see that on the invite.

Posted by: drivl | March 8, 2010 12:53 PM | Report abuse

Barry respectfully declines. He needs to give up beer and smokes. Become a better role model for healthcare.

Is there a facebook page for this? It'd be cool to have one and people could have more notice about it :)

Consider an administration who gave us "enemy combatants," "saved or created," "spend your way out of debt," "spread the wealth around," "60 states -- 'I've now been in 57 states ... one left to go ... Alaska and Hawaii I was not allowed to go to,'" "transparency," "no lobbyists in my administration," "the most ethical administration," "posting of legislation on the internet," and Joe Biden as VP. I wouldn't put too much stock in the Obama administration's ability to positively affect the American economy over the next three years. Thankfully, that is all the time Obama will get.
Here's the wrap:

Nothing, repeat -- nothing is supposed to hurt beer sales! People will dig through sofa cushions and remove car seats to find money for beer. Some people will choose beer before eating!

So we find ourselves in uncharted territory, alcoholically speaking. And given America's problems, sobriety and socialism are real risks!

We have the highest unemployment since the Carter era, with no real potential for long-term job growth, and we have deficits and deficit spending that nobody would have envisioned even as short as two years ago. Lipstick or not, we are still looking at a pig of an economy, not something you necessarily want to face when sober. All because we let a man with the intellect of a seventeen-year-old high-school dropout run America.

If we are lucky, next time we get together, maybe we can split a beer?!
