Major parties increasingly wary of third-party governor candidates

Long dismissed as inconsequential to final electoral outcomes, several third-party candidates running for governor this year are drawing considerable attention from the two major parties because of their presumed impact on November races.

A trio of independent candidates in the Northeast began to gather attention recently, but now the trend appears to be stretching to other parts of the country. From Minnesota, where the state GOP has pursued a pair of campaign finance complaints against the Independence Party candidate, to Florida, where the independent bid of Lawton Chiles III, the son of a former Democratic governor, could cost his dad's party a victory, third parties are secondary no more. (Heyooo!)

What's at the root of the increased viability of these third-party candidates? Disillusionment with the major parties -- and politics in general -- appears to be the main driver.

If voters hate Washington and hate both major parties (and they do), voting for a viable independent is a great outlet for expressing that anger.

Recognizing the potential potency of that message in this sort of electoral environment, the two major parties have adopted a "kill them before they grow" approach to independent candidacies over the past year.

It all began in the New Jersey governor's race last fall.

After independent Chris Daggett inched his way toward 20 percent in the polls and threatened Chris Christie's (R) seeming victory, the Republican Governors Association ran ads tying Daggett to then-Gov. Jon Corzine (D).

The RGA strategy worked, as Daggett collapsed to a 6 percent finish and Christie was elected governor, and a thousand copycats were born.

The RGA adopted the same strategy this year -- funding ads against state Treasurer Tim Cahill (I) that drove him way down in the polls.

But Cahill's support seems to have shifted more toward incumbent Gov. Deval Patrick (D) than Republican Charlie Baker, at least for now. (That's not terribly surprising, given that Cahill was elected as a Democrat.)

The Democratic Governors Association has also gotten in on the act, launching a Web site attacking independent former Sen. Lincoln Chafee in the Rhode Island governor's race.

(Chafee and wealthy independent Maine candidate Eliot Cutler appear to be the most formidable third-party candidates in the country, and it seems likely that the DGA will be dealing with them much like the RGA has dealt with Daggett and Cahill.)

Minnesota Independence Party candidate Tom Horner, meanwhile, is getting it from both sides. The state Republican Party has filed complaints with a campaign finance panel accusing Horner of receiving an advance look at polling conducted by a campaign supporter. Horner was also forced to cut ties with his PR firm when his "day job" became an issue in his campaign.

The major parties' worries are particularly notable in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, where an Independence Party candidate who took 6 percent in 2006 might well have cost Democrats the race against Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R). And don't forget that former Gov. Jesse Ventura won as a third-party candidate in 1998.

Third-party threats are also emerging in Iowa and Florida. In the Hawkeye State, GOP primary runner-up Bob Vander Plaats is threatening an independent run (the situation is likely to come to head Thursday when former Gov. Terry Branstad picks his lieutenant governor nominee), and in Florida, Lawton Chiles III took a pass on a run for the Democratic gubernatorial nod to pursue an independent candidacy.

All of this talk about credible third-party candidates in 2010 gubernatorial races leads to an inevitable question: Is 2012 the cycle where an independent runs successfully (or even seriously) for president?

The answer, as always, is probably not. As we have written many times before, the infrastructure advantages the two major parties enjoy are vast and can only be overcome by a candidate willing to spend vast sums of money to do so, a la Ross Perot in 1992 and (kind of) in 1996.

The most obvious fit in that category is New York City's Michael Bloomberg, and while there are undoubtedly some people in his orbit who still see a presidential bid as a possibility, it's difficult at the moment to see the space he would occupy in between President Obama and the eventual Republican nominee.

I have to say that the Independence party has a stronger following in Minn. than in any other state. That is because of Jessee Ventura and his successful governor's win as an independent in the state. This year is just an anti establishment year, so 3rd parties could make some noise in several states. I think Chaffee could certainly win in RI, and could even be the favorite. In Minn. you know Horner will be a force and whomever, Emmer or the D, wins will have to fight him as well. 3rd party candidates will likely be able to affect elections this year, but very few of them are likely to win GE's.

I hope you read my defenses which I have written.

I would not be surprised if the moveon.org people or the Obama people are emailing among themselves - and coordinating these complaints.

It is all the liberals who are complaining - and THE TRUTH IS THEY DON'T LIKE THE POINT OF VIEW.

You do not see any Conservatives joining in here.

AND you don't see ANY of the liberals complaining about the ABUSES OF THE OTHER LIBERALS.

THAT PROVES that these complaints are PARTISAN BASED MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

AGAIN - I would not be surprised if they are coordinating all this through some email communications.

Their objective is to CONTROL THE MESSAGE ON ALL THE POLITICAL BOARDS IN THIS NATION -

Nothing more, nothing less - they view one comment in favor of ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW as against their purposes.

WELL that is not how THE FIRST AMENDMENT WORKS.

I would advise everyone to remind themselves of the PENTAGON PAPERS CASE.

This is ridiculous.

"Abuse of other Posters" has been what the Obama people and the moveon.org people have been all about for OVER TWO YEARS.

Seriously folks.

The Obama people have been like wandering gangs on the blogs - harassing and abusing other posters who post anything which they do not agree.

The complaints about the Obama people have been going on for an extremely long time - the fighting was so bad during one stretch that the Daily Kos decided to throw all the Hillary people off its blog.

This is just another attempt by the Obama people to SILENCE ITS OPPOSITION. Sorry, but it is all ridiculous -

And honestly it is clear to anyone watching that the the efforts of the Obama people to avoid ANY CIVIL DISCOURSE is unAmerican.

These people are angry about the Iraqi War (which the democrats voted for,) angry about the election of 2000, and they are angry at George Bush - that is all OK, but they have TWISTED THIS ANGER IN THEIR MINDS TO JUSTIFY BEHAVIOR WHICH IS WAY OUT OF BOUNDS - AND OUT OF BOUNDS IN THE AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM.

Freedom of Speech is important - and supreme.

There is little tolerance from the Obama people - instead harassment and attempts to silence their opposition predominate.

This SAME LACK OF TOLERANCE has extended to the health care debate - where there was little discussion or debate about the individual provisions - AND THE DEMOCRATS REFUSED TO DISCUSS THE COSTS OF THE HEALTH CARE PROGRAM.

Instead, they constantly had the attitude that if BUSH COULD GO INTO IRAQ, THEY COULD SPEND TRILLIONS ON HEALTH CARE.

NO thought about HOW MUCH, or HOW MANY TRILLIONS - OR WHERE THE TAXES ARE COMING FROM.

These same people have USED THEIR ANGER TO JUSTIFY UNRESTRAINED SPENDING IN THE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHICH THREATENS THE ECONOMIC PROSPERITY OF THIS NATION.

This has developed into a SERIOUS SITUATION IN THIS NATION.

They don't care - they are just irresponsible people who are still angry about Al Gore not becoming President.

Some good responses to my frustration.

"I got involved because 37thand0street was ruining my enjoyment of what is offered every day here. I tried to get the message to him to no effect. I was not alone."

Ironically, that was why I was about ready to give up.

Marie--you did get the message to him. The problem being that any attention is exactly what it craves. NPD - Narcissistic Personality Disorder. The troll wants the comments section to be all about it.

With others, it's relatively easy to ignore. Zouk does copy/paste and needles a few individuals. Not paying attention to him isn't difficult. Trying to read the comments section while avoiding 37th increasingly became akin to trying to listen to a piano quartet while your neighbor's kid's band practiced in the back yard.

So, I'll hope that Post IT finally gets its act together (or rather, its priorities straight).

The answer to saving this blog is yes, ban 37 & 0. He is not as technically savvy as others you have banned, and he clearly has mental problems.

I got involved because 37thand0street was ruining my enjoyment of what is offered every day here. I tried to get the message to him to no effect. I was not alone.

A quick review of any of your postings will reveal what has been going on. I feel there is a justifiable groundswell that you should not ignore or else many will in fact leave. I am one of them.

Ban him now and when there is more effective technology ban him totally. There are blogs were 37's anger and methodology fit in. You have let this go on too long.

Blade, noa, other patriots, I hope you will reconsider leaving this blog.
______________

The Washington Post has a rich and noble heritage and history. It was the engine behind much of the social and political change over the last forty years.

Obviously, its late editor, Katherine Graham, would be disappointed to see that her paper now sponsors a "political" blog that serves as an Internet platform for personal attacks, fake controversies, and false narratives intended to undermine the 44th President of the United States, his progressive agenda, his Adminstration, and his party.

And she would be sickened to see regular shoutouts by the blog's host (and favored troll posters) to racist proxy agendas and those who promote them, see Rand Paul, given that Mrs. Graham devoted her life to fighting such noxious elements.

If you leave, those awful elements win. Visitors to the blog might start to believe the nonsense peddled non-stop by robo-trolls with the tacit approval of the blog's host, unless their posts are challenged by YOUR posts.

When this blog posts that your President is having trouble with "Wal-Mart Moms" even though there is no such subgroup of voters and the basis for the narrative is a Wal-Mart internet poll, by definition bogus, you MUST call that out. When this blog is silent the day after BHO's signing into law one of the most important initatives of your time, Health Care Reform, and instead features a post titled, "Dan Coats, the anti-Obama," you MUST call that out.
_____________

Hang in there... Many in PostWorld don't like what's going on here any more than you do.

Chirs Cillizza, you can put me down as someone else who would like to see 37th curbed. 37th is a troll and he ruins this board. I know that is a personal attack but I think it is also painfully proven by what 37th does here every day. Other posters put up comments throughout the day but they are brief, usually more on topic, and do not attempt to shut down the conversation.

I think he should be deleted whenever he repeats his posts (even just substantially repeats his posts), goes on too long, is off topic too many times on a board, makes personal attacks in his comments, or uses frequent, shouting posts to shut down the conversation.

I don't come here for p1ssing matches (the ones that happen at night). I come here to see what's on everyone's mind and maybe to get some informed opinions from other posters. Everyone has their partisan screed of the day to get off their chest, but there have been days where 37th is 20% of your posts -- and none of it is worth reading.

Seriously - if the liberals all gang up 3 on 1 Conservative posters - that person has to fight back.

I challenge you to take a look back in the archives back to 2008 -

See what the liberals and the moveon.org crew have been doing - A NONSTOP CONSTANT HARASSMENT OF OTHER POSTERS.

NO - in the ATMOSPHERE CREATED BY THE LIBERALS, THESE CHARGES ARE RIDICULOUS.

Seriously - the problem is the liberals want to control the content 100%

AND the liberals are upset that OBAMA IS DOING A HORRIBLE JOB - AND OBAMA IS A DRAG ON THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

Take a look at broadwayjoe's posts - are you in all seriousness going to say that ANYTHING HE HAS SAID IS OF ANY QUALITY ???

Noacoler - has been banned 3 times, he won't leave - and yet he feels perfectly comfortable complaining about other posters - AND ENGAGING IN CONSTANT NAME-CALLING.

I could go on and on - the BEHAVIOR OF THE LIBERALS IS WAY OUT OF CONTROL.

I have said this before - you want to make a complaint - you should complain about a bunch of the other people FIRST - because they have been much worse.

AT least I have attempted to say on-topic more than anyone else - because I ignore all this stuff.

Meanwhile, the cap on the oil leak CAME OFF

The Afghan war is delayed because Obama can't HANDLE A LITTLE LOCKER ROOM TALK

The Blago trial is ABOUT TO BREAK WIDE OPEN.

And the big thing here seems to be that ddawd has decided to organize a bunch of complaints to go out - mainly because he has PARTISAN OBJECTIVES.

And don't EVEN TRY to attempt to say that broadwayjoe's attacks on Nikki Haley have been anything close to in-bounds. And he has repeated himself.

So, all of this is ridiculous.

IN ALL HONESTY - take a long look at the comments of other posters on this blog - the liberals are CONSTANTLY ATTACKING AND ABUSING THE CONSERVATIVES.

Sorry - but Im not sure if you were around in 2008, but it was NON-STOP.

The Obama people were on here in shifts - attacking ANYONE who said ANYTHING that was not PRO-OBAMA.

THAT has been the prevailing atmosphere on this blog - and sorry

BUT READ THE ABUSE OF THE OTHER POSTERS.

Sorry, but this charge has no weight -

I am allowed to defend myself.

Seriously - go back in the archives and take a look with what has been going on here.

Sorry - but the liberals are the ones who do the pounding.

It just seems like the liberals like to dish it out but they can't take it.

To ALL

Like I have said numerous time - I am not doing anything different from the moveon.org crew has been doing.

Broadwayjoe gets on here with his rants - and his mocking of other posters.

Ddawd is none - stop fighting with someone.

Drinl is copying and pasting - all articles from Kos and the Huffington Post - attributing few of them.

Noacoloer used to be the worst - under 5 different names he has been on here - and he has been banned 3 separate times that we know of.

So - how is ANYTHING that I have done ANY WORSE than what these characters have been up to.

I think you are MAINLY UPSET THAT OBAMA IS DOING SUCH A HORRIBLE JOB - AND YOU HATE HEARING ABOUT IT.

For those of you who were around during 2008 - the liberals were GIVING EVERYONE HERE A CONSTANT POUNDING.

No one could say ANYTHING without a liberal mocking them - harassing them - or in some other way making it unpleasant for them.

MANY of you here now were here then - and I SUPPOSE YOU ENJOYED THAT ATMOSPHERE.

But what is truly going on here is that THE LIBERALS ARE UPSET THAT THEY ARE NOT CONTROLING THE POSTING 100%.

AND in 2008 - the POUNDING FROM THE LEFT WAS CONSTANT AND WITHOUT MERCY.

Broadwayjoe was one of the worst offenders.

The totality of that atmosphere - which many of you participated in - is the REAL HORRIBLE BEHAVIOR ON THIS BOARD.

So - I find it silly to hear all these complaints - especially when many of you PARTICIPATED IN THE BAD BEHAVIOR IN 2008.

Again, the major problem here appears to be THAT YOU DON'T LIKE THE CONTENT -

YOU WANT TO CONTROL THE BOARD WITH YOUR LIBERAL VIEWS AND THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL REALLY MAKE YOU HAPPY.

That is my response.

Sometimes you want to step back from the edge a bit. This is one of those times for me. It's three parts for me. One is not wanting to let the bastages win. Two is for wanting to keep connected with some folks whose "company" I enjoy. Three is for wanting to support a decent community. Yeah, I think 37th should be banned for repeated abuse of other individuals. Let'im be 29th&Whatever. There was a recent chat (last Wednesday, All You Can Eat) where a troll was crushed. Someone claimed to be supporting another poster and the AYCE folks noted that they could see his/her IP address.

So, I'll ignore the trolls from here on out. Zouk. 2^5+5. Probably Brigade, but we'll see.

I think 37 has clearly earned banning even if it is an imperfect solution at the moment. Check to see if his IP address can be blocked.

He has disrespected everyone here with his endless, long, shouting repetitions and basic lack of effort in most of the posts. He has demonstrated a need for both negative and positive attention that we, as strangers, shouldn't have to meet. We have tried every method of communication, from thoughtful to humorous to sadly insulting, and nothing works.

Thanks for responding.

Senator Nelson says Florida needs hundreds more skimmers to combat approaching oil spill

June 15, 2010 at 8:13 am by Cathy Harrelson

The following is a letter from Linda Young, Director of the Clean Water Network of Florida, a coalition of more than 155 groups that are committed to full implementation, enforcement and strengthening of the Clean Water Act and other safeguards of our water resources.

Dear Friends of Florida’s waters:
"As I sit here typing this report, wave after wave of oil is washing ashore in Orange Beach, AL and there is not one skimmer boat in site. Nelson said this is because command and control at the CG is not working. They had no idea if there were any skimmer boats available when asked. Fortunately the Dutch government is sending their skimmer boats to us but they will not arrive until next month. They keep boats and booms (big ones, 8 ft in diameter) on hand in case of an accident. Isn’t that a novel idea?"

@DDAWD, Joe - The earlier post was me. I am angry about what the Post has decided to let happen to the comments section. I patronize enough web sites that the claim that we can't do anything about this is utter bull. It's difficult for me to understand why a major newspaper has decided to let a lone loon destroy the comments section of a particular blog. I'm perfectly happy to shift over to Plum Line and Right Now (which is surprisingly good), not to mention Ezra Klein's excellent blog.

This is truly disappointing for me. I had one weekend where I decided that I'd have a little fun and meet 37th on his own terms. At which point CC claimed that he'd ban the both of us. After 37th claimed he'd behave, he violated every flocking one of the terms of service.

I'll still be checking in from time to time. Truth is, I've joined a discussion group (including previous Fix commenters) in which we can have a civilized discussion. If anyone wants to stay in touch, catch me at fairlingtonblade at gmail.com.

Did Obama create this controversy just to DISTRACT THE NATIONAL MEDIA FROM THE BLAGO TRIAL ???

The witnesses at the trial are beginning to outline that Obama wanted Valerie Jarrett appointed to the US Senate.

And one witness said that Obama was sending 2 UNION OFFICIALS TO SEE OBAMA ABOUT VALERIE JARRETT.

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT OBAMA MADE AN OFFER TO BLAGO THROUGH THE UNION OFFICIALS ???

IF OBAMA ARRANGED FOR THE UNION OFFICIALS TO MAKE A JOB OFFER TO BLAGO - THEN THAT WOULD BE A FELONY.

COMBINED WITH THE OBAMA-SESTAK SCANDAL

AND THE OBAMA-ROMANOFF SCANDAL,

THAT WOULD BE A RICO CHARGE.

So, did Obama create this distraction this week in an effort to distract the nation away from the BLAGO TRIAL.

THE WITNESS AT THE BLAGO TRIAL SAID THAT OBAMA WAS SENDING TWO UNION OFFICIALS TO TALK TO BLAGO ABOUT GETTING VALERIE JARRETT THE US SENATE SPOT

DID OBAMA ARRANGE FOR THE UNION OFFICIALS TO MAKE AN OFFER TO BLAGO ??????

THAT IS THE REAL QUESTION OF THE WEEK.

"In a new book, Sarah Palin’s father says one reason she cut short her college career in Hawaii was because the heavy minority population made her uncomfortable—and not, as she writes in her book, because “perpetual sunshine isn’t necessarily conducive to serious academics.”

Palin’s dad, Chuck Heath, told the authors “the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: ‘They were a minority type thing and it wasn’t glamorous, so she came home.’"

It's interesting: Some Sikh sites seems to understand that Nimrata is running the Big Con and kinda appreciate their sistah's hustle. Other Sikhs are pissed Nim's running around calling herself "Nikki" and Bible waving.

Nim wasn't vetted at all so, if the MSM does its job (which is iffy), we'll have a smorgasbord of revelations. Expect a lot more on the man-izer front. Notice recently, Nim retreated to a non-denial denial of the allegations, i.e., you can't prove "it," meanies. Total phony opportunist. Great show coming up.

Well nowhere did the bias show more plainly than the day after Obama achieved in healthcare reform a triumph that had eluded Bill Clinton, and what was the lead story here? "Dan Coats, the anti-Obama," showing coats in a trench coat and a big crinkle-eyed grin. The passage of HCR got two paragraphs delivered in a tone of clenched teeth.

Cillizza, you're a putz. I hope you end up unemployed because you sure don't have the talent to get a new gig like Froomkin did at HuffPost, not that they would take a bigot like you. You can register that complaint with Obama, Pelosi and the democratic members of Congress who leveled FALSE CHARGES of racism at the Tea Party movement.

YOU DON'T LIKE IT ? I don't think anyone cares ???

What you should care about is the democrats have turned that into a political weapon - AND then they refuse to stop being racist themselves.

Look at broadwayjoe's comments tonight about Nikki Haley - not racist ?

The democrats do NOT care about race relations, they just want an excuse to attack people.

BB, I agree. And it's not like its superhuman task. There are a handful of offenders. It takes about 20 seconds to scroll down and see who the most egregious offender is. He is fully aware of what 37th does. All he needs to do is submit the name to the tech people. Same with zook. Getting rid of those two people pretty much solves the whole problem. His response last time was infuriatingly dishonest. No one expects him to sit here and police the place. Every single person has asked for Chris to get rid of 37th. I know I emailed him multiple times.

I'm not sure what Chris C's issue is. Yeah, he's got some weird ultra conservative leanings and pushes the meme (WalMart moms? Really??) and I'm not sure where his issues with black people come from. He seems kind of young for that. But it's pretty nasty of the person to let 37th keep spamming the place with his racist filth.

I guess I can take some solace in the fact that people like 37th and zook are driving people away from Chris C's precious conservative ideology. If love to laugh in his face when this Republican resurgence fizzles out.

BHO should get us out of Afghanistan as he promied during the campaign. That issue preempts the smaller one of whether he should have fired the general.
________________

BTW, in SC political circles, they are saying Fix favorite, Mrs. Nimrata ("Nim")Kaur Randhawa (fake bigot friendly name: "Nikki Haley"), GOP candidate for governor, may NOT have the smooth sailing predicted by her fans.

Nim may have won the primary, which few participate in, but during the GE when real people finally vote, they say she'll have a major problem with the state's demographics: the state is 70 white and 30% black.

Thanks to Nim's racist stunt today of speechifying in front of a Confederate museum in SC -- hardly a subtle anti-black message -- she will get zero black votes. So Nim must win about 70 percent of the white voters, most of whom are just learning about her real name, the inauthenticity of her bible beating, and her alleged serial "man-izing." The few Sikh voters in SC are still wondering why Nim is running around calling herself "Nikki."

Nim may have counted her chickens too soon.

To be honest, I don't see the point of trying to generate intelligent discussion WHEN I WILL BE CALLED A RACIST MULTIPLE FLOCKING TIMES. Zouk calls someone a pedophile a bajillion times without anyone saying boo.

It's utter horseflop to claim that one cannot moderate a blog. Head over to MacRumors. You'll regularly see banned posters. So, the content of the Fix is still good. The discussion section is a toilet. And the Post bears direct responsibility for letting that happen.

McChrystal - whether he was looking to get out of Afghanistan or not, is NOW FAR BETTER OFF THAN HE WAS A MONTH AGO.

A month ago, McChrystal had to carry out the DUMBEST ORDERS IN THE HISTORY OF WARFARE:

Surge your troops in difficult, mountainous terrain, and get the population on your side -

All the while telling everyone that you will begin leaving within a year - leaving the entire country at the hands of terrorists and drug dealers.

The major problem with that is: How do you get anyone on your side when YOU DON'T HAVE A LONG TERM COMMITMENT TO THE COUNTRY ????

In those circumstances, anyone who cooperates with us is ON THERE OWN STARTING IN ONE YEAR - to face retaliation at the hands of terrorists and drug dealers.

NOW McChrystal is OUT OF THERE - IN THE MOST SPECTACULAR FASHION.

McChrystal BECAME MORE FAMOUS THIS WEEK THAN HE COULD HAVE EVER HOPED TO

McChrystal had a FANTASTICK WEEK.

Why BHO Discarded Churchill Bust in Favor of Picture of Himself Walking on Water

Comrade Obama didn't only discard the bust of Winston Churchill because he hates our closest ally England, or even to make way for the New Yorker magazine picture of himself walking on water. Churchill earned his personal ire by accurately describing Chairman Zero's ideology:

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

So we were all waiting for the president to say what he was going to do about this sea of oil headed into the Gulf, but he seemed so ... detached. Removed. Cool, man. As if this were somebody else's problem, really. Which is what brought poor, out-of-his-depth Jimmy Carter to mind. The country doesn't need another president like that. But it seems to be getting one. The prospect is enough to fill most of us with ... malaise.

So could we please just fix this oily little matter, Mr. President, which ain't so little after all, before we start gazing fondly at our navels? There'll be plenty of time for philosophizing after this well has been safely plugged. Till then, let's concentrate on Job No. 1. And git 'er done. Then we can go back to arguing politics. Till then, the country could use a president who leads, follows or just gets out of the way. Instead it's got this ... community organizer.

Wake up, Mr. President!

More than a third of the 1.24 million borrowers who have enrolled in the $75 billion mortgage modification program have dropped out. That exceeds the number of people who have managed to have their loan payments reduced to help them keep their homes"

which means that the program has been successful for 830,000 homeowners. Exactly where was it said that 100% of those in the program would be able to meet their financial obligations?
and how is that wonderful GOP program working out(we forget there was none), since the GOP objected to principle reduction legislation every step of the way? The party of no ideas loves to stand on the sidelines throwing stones.

the GOP's answer is to cut spending now and
pray they don't repeat lessons they

Obama's Mortgage Relief Program: More Fail

If someone is keeping track of all of the failures of the Obama regime, here's another legendary one:

More than a third of the 1.24 million borrowers who have enrolled in the $75 billion mortgage modification program have dropped out. That exceeds the number of people who have managed to have their loan payments reduced to help them keep their homes.
Last month alone,155,000 borrowers left the program -- bringing the total to 436,000 who have dropped out since it began in March 2009.
About 340,000 homeowners have received permanent loan modifications and are making payments on time.
First, Democrats set up the biggest financial crisis since the Carter stagflation years, even though Barney Frank insisted a collapse could never happen. Then, a huge proportion of the folks who scrambled to benefit from this Democrat government bailout intended to fix the mess, instead bail like deadbeats. What else would you expect from the Progressive Nanny State mentality, Obama style?

Bloomberg as a third party candidate
is unlikely seeing that he actually gets
along with Obama and would only split
the liberal vote and hand th oval office
to a a right wing conservative he doesn't
agree with. Seems like we had another NY mayor who had plenty of money to spend, name
id but fell on his face. Its doubtful
that we will have POTUS candidates from either
NY or Texas any time soon.

third party candidates are usually spoilers
who's luster and support seem to dimish each
day closer to election day. Ms. Medina however
would be a welcome third party entry in our Texas election for governor.

Let's talk about something important

The US was able to get the first place in its Group

That put them in a fantastic bracket - one which they have a chance to get to the Final Four

Hopefully Germany will hold on - so the US can avoid both Germany and Argentina in its bracket.

That is the sweet spot we were talking about a few weeks ago.

The US has a great chance to get to the Final Four - and that would be a massive victory for the US.

Yea you are right about the $400,000-

But you have to look at what is going on in the South Carolina legislature - OK?

Who is aligned with who - who are the different groups ? I don't know.

Sanford had a bunch of people against him - who were not his friends.

In the end, Sanford's wife did him in by creating the media frenzy which started the search on the Appalachian Trial.

But we later find out that the wife knew where he was all along - because she was the one who was sending copies of her husband's emails to the newspapers.

Newspapers which did nothing about the emails which were PROOF OF EVERYTHING.

The newspapers have really become worthless - it is probably a good thing that the internet is hurting them.

Anyway - Sanford was behind Nikki Haley

Maybe HE DID HER TOO - WHO CARES???

Third party candidates have little chance of winning - so they have little chance of getting any money.

So the money they do get, has to have some benefit to someone somewhere.

The key is, the third party candidates are often seen as HELPING ONE OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES on the ballot - usually in an anticipated close race.

THAT KEY IS THE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING WHERE THEIR MONEY COMES FROM.

The third party candidates are usually funded by one side or the other - in order to tip the balance in an anticipated close race.

Chris Daggett in New Jersey was funded by the Corzine people - why? because that is ALL they could come up with.

Corzine was an idiot - no one could part with millions of dollars faster than him. Corzine makes fools look good.

All this is pretty meaningless

Look at where the money is coming from - and you will learn alot - if they ever create a system of public financing - perhaps with open primaries like California is talking about - then maybe things could get better.
