New Jersey: AP Calls It For Corzine
The Associated Press reports that " Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine has won the New Jersey governor's race." He defeated businessman Doug Forrester (R).

So who will Gov.-elect Corzine appoint to fill the remainder of his U.S. Senate term? (AP)
Corzine's win sets up a battle among Democrats to be appointed for the final year of his Senate term. cting Gov. Richard Codey is the name most often mentioned, but a handful of Democratic House Members -- led by Bob Menendez -- are also in the mix.
Read my Oct. 18 post for more on the Corzine succession watch.
New Jersey voters also seemed inclined to create a lieutenant governor's position to limit the power of the state's next chief executive. The measure that would create that post was winning 55 percent to 45 percent with 1,660 of 6,310 total precincts reporting, according to AP.
