Republicans try to pin Penn. Senate on President Obama

President Barack Obama isn't stopping in Pennsylvania for the stretch run of the state's contested Democratic Senate primary but national Republicans are already trying to hang the results on him anyway.

Obama has notably taken a pass on appearing with Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) as he prepares for a neck-and-neck primary Tuesday with Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.). Instead, the president is in Ohio pumping up his year-old stimulus plan.

But Republicans aren't letting him off the hook in the event Specter loses. The National Republican Senatorial Committee released a memo Monday morning casting Specter's fate as a referendum on Obama's political capital.

Obama recruited Specter to become a Democrat last year and promised the senator his "full support," according to NRSC executive director Rob Jesmer. And even though Obama isn't there this week, he did go to Philadelphia for a Specter fundraiser in September. (And Specter is running television and radio ads in the Philadelphia media market featuring a full-throated endorsement from Obama.)

"At best, the White House political operation will narrowly win two Democratic primaries tomorrow; at worst they lost both after being heavily involved at the outset," wrote Jesmer. "It should raise serious questions in the minds of Democratic Senate candidates whether the President and the Democrats' Washington agenda will be a benefit or a detriment to their campaigns this November."

(It's worth noting, however, that the Specter campaign would love for Obama to make a last minute stop; it's the White House who appears resistant. In an appearance on "Topline", a web video show produced by ABC News and the Washington Post, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Specter supporter, said that an Obama appearance "might jack up turn out" but added: "People know where the president stands.")

Democratic National Committee communications director Brad Woodhouse added that Republicans are the last ones who should be providing political analysis.

"Republicans are leaderless, rudderless and are at war with themselves," Woodhouse said. "And forgive us if we don't take political prognostications seriously from the NRSC, which bet on the wrong candidate in Florida, the wrong candidate in Kentucky, saw its incumbent lose in Utah and which is watching helplessly as the tea party devours its chosen candidates."

The goal of the NRSC memo is simple. Sew seeds of doubt in the minds of other Democratic incumbents and challengers -- Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet (D) to name one -- about how much the White House really can help them in both primaries and the fall election.

In short: If President Obama can't save you, who can? Depending on the results tomorrow, lots of Democratic candidates may be asking themselves that very question.

It is so evident from the ignorance of some of these posters that they don't have a CLUE what a "Democrat" is!! They are claiming "Democrats" are the ones wantig and taking "handouts when THEIR corporations and executives just got BILLIONS of dollars of WELFARE!!

Some people are SOOO very ignorant about politics and their own government! And, how much do you want to bet that these IGNORANT, making these downgrading accusations about "Democrats" are ACTUALLY making less than $250,000 a year themselves, so SHOULD be calling themselves and VOTING, "DEMOCRAT"!!

Instead, they "THINK" (erroneously, of course),they're "Republicans", and vote alongside the wants and needs of the MULTI-MILLIONAIRES in the corporate world, where the MAJORITY of the WELFARE money has been going! Their OWN, "ACTUAL" party, the party "of the PEOPLE", as the Democrats have ALWAYS been is then called DOWN by their IGNORANCE, as they vote AGAINST themselves in EVERY election!

Nobody ever wants to THINK of the REPUBLICANS being on WELFARE, but the wealthy Republican FARMERS, who take all their millions of dollars of subsidies, and the FAILING corporations, who FAILED because they were CROOKED, are the ones getting the BIGGEST SHARE of any "WELFARE" they pretend to be so worried about!!

Figure it out instead of talking so stupidly!! YOU REPUBLICANS are the "REAL" WELFARE RECIPIENTS!!

Why are you fronting this nonsense? What does BHO have to do with Specter's fate tomorrow. If Arlen loses it will because the electorate in Pa. view him as duplicitous after his earlier switching parties for his survival. This false narrative that every state/local election is some referendum on BHO's Administration is tired and bogus. Stop the hatin'.

Did anyone ever think the environmental hysteria would do other than provide another way for political insiders like Raines to get their snouts in the trough?

bsimon1, I guess the NRSC memo worked really well. They got Cillizza to repeat their memo here in this coulmn and again during his appearance on Topline. Watch the vid and you'll see that Cillizza thinks all local elections are the responsibility of the President.

Got one guy referring to a black President as "nappy" Got another guy saying that all brown people are ugly.

Jeez, I wonder why minorities are flocking away from the Republican party. Probably cause they are all just a bunch of dumb nigggers.

Such memos have one target audience: The Fix and similar pundits who repeat the nonsense as though voters really care. I can't imagine there's a voter out there who's opinion will be changed by the NRSC's characterization of the race.

That you conclude with this tripe adds to the ridiculousness of the entire post:

"In short: If President Obama can't save you, who can? Depending on the results tomorrow, lots of Democratic candidates may be asking themselves that very question."

Yes, I suppose if there are more former Repub senators facing a primary challenge after switching to the Dem party, they ought to be concerned that tomorrow's results might foreshadow similar problems for themselves. Given the lack of such candidates, I fail to see the point. Your 'incumbents beware' meme isn't very compelling, but it beats the pants off this analysis.

We now have a Muslim Miss USA and a president who was raised a Muslim.

Are we doing this FOR POLTICAL CORRECTNESS or because these people would placed in these positions if they were perfectly WHITE?

It is a fair question.

by the way, if you thought that electing Obama would end the terrorist incidents, because it would prove how good a country we are, THAT DIDN'T WORK, YOU IDIOT.

LOS ANGELES – The federal agency responsible for ensuring that the Deepwater Horizon was operating safely before it exploded last month fell well short of its own policy that the rig be inspected at least once per month, an Associated Press investigation shows.

In fact, the agency's inspection frequency on the Deepwater Horizon fell dramatically over the past five years, according to federal Minerals Management Service records. The rig blew up April 20, killing 11 people before sinking and triggering a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Since January 2005, inspectors issued just one minor infraction for the rig. That strong track record led the agency last year to herald the Deepwater Horizon as an industry model for safety.

Attorneys for President Barack Obama's African aunt say an immigration court has granted her asylum, allowing her to stay in the United States. Zeituni Onyango (zay-TOO'-nee ohn-YAHN'-goh), the half-sister of Obama's late father, is from Kenya. Her attorneys made the announcement Monday in Cleveland. Onyango moved to the United States in 2000. Her first asylum request was rejected, and she was ordered deported in 2004. But she didn't leave the country and continued to live in public housing in Boston.

So typically liberal. Our millionaire Present ident, who it seems has not made enough money yet, lets his own aunt fester in a public housing unit. We can pay, for her. why should he. after all she is an illegal immigrant. Oh wait, not any more. but we still get to pay. Now she even has medical care. looks like one rich guy is not paying his share.

The infamously corrupt Fannie Mae — a black hole into which our money continues to flow by the $billions, even after its instrumental role in causing the 2008 financial collapse — may have found a way to make itself profitable. It has carved out a niche in the biggest swindle in the history of the human race, the global warming hoax:

On June 7, 2005, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued Patent No. 6,904,336 for a "System and Method for Residential Emissions Trading." The patent was assigned to the Federal National Mortgage Association ("Fannie Mae") and CO2e.com, LLC of New York. The patent lists former Fannie Mae Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Franklin D. Raines as the primary inventor.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) comments:

"Having ventured far beyond sub-prime lending policies, Fannie Mae appears to have served as a full-blown liberal think tank for crony-capitalist ideas. While the crony-capitalist Democrats who ran Fannie Mae like Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson used these kinds of ideas to enrich themselves, it was the American taxpayers who were left holding the bag after they failed. It's disturbing that Fannie Mae executives were positioning themselves in 2005 for financial gain from an Obama Administration cap-and-trade system, but given the huge amount of campaign contributions Fannie Mae poured over President Obama it should be no surprise."

Readers will remember Franklin Raines as the Obama advisor who walked away from Fanny Mae's collapse with $90 million sticking out of his pocket. The comparably slimy Jim Johnson, head of B. Hussein's Vice Presidential search team, was involved in highly questionable loans from Countrywide Financial.

With the foxes in charge of the henhouse, it should come as no surprise that Fannie Mae will continue to soak up massive amounts of our money, as our corrupt socialist rulers steer us toward a second collapse. It recently requested another $10.6 billion handout from the federal government.

"Government-sponsored enterprises" like Fannie Mae — a transitional step between the free market and communism — are supposedly protecting us from sinister capitalists.

Has anyone noticed that as liberals fall into evermore positions of rejection and ineptitude, they are all beginning to accuse others of their own characteristics.

Drivl accusing others of posting hate all day. DDAWD calling anyone dumm. Berry calling for civility and bipartisanship. The Obama Regime lecturing the Spanish Government on the need to restrain its deficits and embrace fiscal discipline.

Cilizza, allowing the dingbat drivl to rule the board has now resulted in less than 60 hits per day. about half of them are hers. Maybe you could create a seperate thread for the idiots to flock to: drivl, Ped, Broadway Joe and Margerat and DDAWD could populate that one with the minute by minute vacuity and brainless insults and Obamabots that everyone else is running from.

then the intelligent posters could return the blog to its heyday before these clambrains took over.

Is it unusual for a Prez to endorse in a primary?

My memory is not serving me here. I either never kept track to begin with, or filtered it out as irrelevant, or that bad thing is happening to my brain - I can't remember what it is called...

Point: All D candidates will want BHO's help, one way or another, but endorsements are of limited value and quickly forgotten. Rs will not sew any seeds here that germinate.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- A U.S. immigration court has granted asylum to President Barack Obama's African aunt, allowing her to stay in the country, her attorneys announced Monday.

The decision was mailed Friday and comes three months after Kenya native Zeituni Onyango, the half-sister of Obama's late father, testified at a closed hearing in Boston, where she arrived in a wheelchair and two doctors testified in support of her case.

The basis for her asylum request hadn't been made public. People who seek asylum must show that they face persecution in their homeland on the basis of religion, race, nationality, political opinion or membership in a social group.

I doubt with Obama's name recognition, she is in any danger in Keyna.

You decide.
