The Friday Primary Line: Game off in CA (or not)
The recent decision by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom to drop his candidacy for governor of California left only state Attorney General Jerry Brown in the race for the Democratic nod, knocking one of the Fix's top 10 primaries off of our Line.

Friday House Line: A Republican wave?
With election day 2009 rapidly approaching, this is the last House Line limited to just 10 races. And, it couldn't come a moment too soon. The playing field for 2010 continues to expand as Republicans sense opportunity in the national atmospherics and Democrats look to stay on offense enough to build a bulwark against a possible wave.

Friday Governors Line: What Will VA and NJ Mean?
Eighteen days out from the Nov. 3 gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia, both parties' expectation-setting machines have gone into high gear. Republicans argue that both states went for President Barack Obama last fall and the fact that they are competitive in each is a sign of his faltering appeal among the electorate. Democrats respond that no president's party has won even one of the two state's governorships since 1985 when Gov. Tom Kean (R) won a second term during the presidency of Ronald Reagan (R). (That same year Democratic Gov. Jerry Baliles was elected in Virginia.)
