Twittering the 44th Inaugural
The Fix will be reporting before, during and after Barack Obama's inauguration from our perch at the west front of the Capitol.
You can follow our observations below or on our Twitter feed. We are going to try to even file some pictures -- thanks to the technical wizardry of post.com deputy politics editor Paul Volpe -- to give you the full experience. (We are still trying to find a way to package the cold and bring it to Fix readers!)
You can also watch the live feed of the Post's web coverage of the inauguration anchored by your truly.
So, stay tuned and away we go!

Was it just me, or did Chief Justice Roberts mess up the oath and gt a stern look from Pres. Obama?

_____________
You are right. Roberts misplaced the word "faithfully" in the oath. 44 bailed the CJ out reciting the correct placement, quite gracefully I thought. BTW, kudos to the CJ for his meet-and-greet for BHO last week.

Lowery's racial benediction was unnecessary and inappropriate.
There will be more said about that, you can count it.
Here we go...

PRESIDENT OBAMA: BAN THE ROOT CAUSE OF TORTURE
As your first major act, please ban MORE THAN TORTURE...
...Ban policies of EXTRAJUDICIAL TARGETING AND PUNISHMENT... policies that breed torture and human rights abuses AT HOME as well as abroad.
Extrajudicial targeting and punishment allows a calculated bypass of the judicial system... paving the way for human rights abuses -- including DOMESTIC TORTURE VIA RADIATION WEAPONRY that is being widely deployed among law enforcement, the military, and intelligence agencies.
Mr. Obama, domestic torture and physical assault by way of high-tech devices and weapons CONTINUES TO THIS DAY in communities throughout America...
... a covert evil that is happening with the apparent knowledge and approval of U.S. security forces.

Better to start with a stumble than end with one. (Could be a sign that those two will stumble over each other again.)
Could have done without Aretha and Warren. But the second musical performance and the second spiritual benediction were pitch perfect. Perhaps an omen that B's first 4 years will be hampered by the past but his last 4 years will be forward-looking and sublime.
May it be so.

flynnie,
BHO stumbled at the beginning of the oath by jumping the first phrase and then Roberts mangled the rest of the oath. I thought it was refreshing that two men known for their cool got the mumblefumbles and could grin about it, which they were both doing by the end of the oath.

Rest in Peace RIP Republicans. FOX NEWS, Hannity , Rush and Oreilly make me sick to my stomach. When the entire world was feeling great about our 80% approval rating great President OBAMA they were on their programs being negative. I will be working with other groups and commitees to get these HATEFUL programs off our airwaves.
