"Worst Week in Washington" winner: David Wu
Dressing up like a tiger for Halloween is one thing. Sending a picture of yourself dressed as a tiger to a subordinate is something else.
Oregon Rep. David Wu (D) learned that lesson the hard way -- is there any other way? -- this week when a photo of him in his Halloween costume surfaced, one of a number of erratic incidents involving Wu in recent years.
As we write in our "Worst Week in Washington" column for Sunday's paper:
"First came a report in the Oregonian, the paper of record in Wu's Portland area district, that his staff had confronted him about his erratic behavior and sought to have him hospitalized in the days before the 2010 election. At the time, he sent e-mails in the voice of his children from his private congressional account in the early hours of the morning, gave a rambling speech and talked his way into the restricted area of an airport and asked for votes, staff members said."
Wu is facing some calls to resign but, so far, he appears to standing firm. How long can he hold out?
