Favorite Backyard Sport?

If you love the smell of fireworks in the morning, you'll soon be in luck, because July 4 is right around the corner. Of course, Independence Day is also known for getting the gang over to someone's big backyard for an afternoon of grilling and hard-fought games of... what?
We're looking for your favorite backyard sport. Examples include, but are hardly limited to, badminton, bocce, jarts (lawn darts), football toss, wiffle ball, horse shoes, Frisbee, croquet and quoits.

we have the white trash triathalon: slingball (ladder golf), washers, and beanbags. all fueled by hops and barley, of course.

Our favorite is watching the "White Trash Triathlon" from the comfort of our porch with a cold glass of chardonnay.

I love beanbags, also known as cornhole by those in the Midwest. Living in Manhattan we have no backyard. But, we take our boxes over to Riverside Park and play quite often during the summer. People have watched, and stopped, and some even asked what we were playing, and where they can get some boxes.
We also have many "beverages," but these must be kept discreet, as it would be against the law in the park.

Badminton.

What's wrong with bocce? Or the fun adult ping pong games that everyone learns in college?

I'm going with horseshoes though. If only because of the great expression.

Badminton, with wiffle ball a close second.

Gotta be wiffleball. Wicked curves, would be home run balls that float back in the wind, imaginary runners, a chance to throw chin music at your loving spouse and the game ends when the dog chews the ball to shreds.

I want to build a fronton in my backyard so I can play jai alai. A person needs dreams.

Horseshoes

Volleyball. Of course, since I have been playing and coaching for about 30 years, and have a lot of serious players for friends, it gets a lot more competitive and fun than your typical "picnicball" game. So we drink adult beverages to heighten the relaxation level. :-)

Muckers...the best lawn game ever.

Wiffleball. Especially where the rule is if you catch it in the air its an out and if you pick it up cleanly when its rolling on the ground its an out. Of course too there is imaginary base runners.

Wiffleball. No doubt. $2 for a bat and ball that hasn't changed in generations. Might be the best deal of all time in entertainment. Name another game where its this much fun to define the rules. Over the bush is a double, off the wall above the window is a triple, over the roof is a home run, ghost runners must be forced home and so on. Anyone could throw a curveball like Scott McGregor. Game is over when the ball gets stuck in the gutter.

Domino! It's always too damn hot on the 4th for all of those other extracurricular activities. All you need is some ice, good rum, assorted colorful flavors, music, and a umbrella...and some dominos.

BEERPONG! No other backyard sport offers such a competitive game that rewards both the winners AND the losers!

Polish horseshoes..... Beer in one hand, frisbee in the other: two ski poles set up at opposite sides with a beer bottle balanced on top. Game of accuracy and hand eye coordination. Who am I kidding; it's a fun way to drink :)

Whiffleball

Lawn darts (jarts) are very dangerous and illegal to sell. I think that it is very irresponsible to suggest them as the ultimate backyard game.
