Following the right-wing logic in these here comments gays are responsible for our losses of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have fought about ten years in both places and how much territory do we control? How much loot have we brought home? How many slaves are now working in our houses? This is war, after all, and to the victor go the spoils. In modern war, we throw the war, don't pay for it, and the rich, who benefit most from the war, get a tax discount. And local and state governments go into a protective crouch for lack of operating revenues.

It's always interesting how simgle individuals are "typical" in the minds of some. If that's true, is it also true that the typical Republican senator is a person who solicits gay sex in airport restrooms, or that typical Republican House Speakers have illicit affairs and serve their wives divorce papers when said wives are hospitalized awaiting surgery?

"Typical" behavior, eh? The point being that, using silly generalizations is, well, "silly."

If you don't understand, look up "silly" in the Liberal codebook, otherwise known as the dictionary.

The word "liberal" has a grandfather named "liberty,"
from a house sheltering the rain on both good and bad.
Posted by: Tony-KS

My Comment...
With liberty comes responsibility.
There is still the need for social organization, cooperation and mutual welfare.
When we do what is "right" and "good"; liberty can be achieved.
When we do "wrong" and "bad"; liberty is the first quality of life to be a victimized.
Liberal has many meanings depending on who uses the word.
Liberal has to do with providing as much liberty as possible without infringing on the freedom of others.
Poverty is an infringement on the liberty of others. It prevents them from sharing in the fruits of their labor; it undermines the quality of the society and is mean spirited.
Poverty is a cancer that eats away at the stability of a nation.

It's a brilliant editorial cartoon! And it fits well with Frank Rich's piece today in the New York Times entitled "Gay Bashing" regarding the Smithsonian's removing a 11 second art video.

In reply to Goldeneagles,

No, you wouldn't. See I have as much right to claim absolute knowledge as you do. My god is kind, yours only hates.

Goldeneagles said:
"If you would remove all homosexuals from the military today, as Title 10, Section 654 requires, you would find that the efficiency and operational excellence go up in all categories. You would see the American military winning their battles faster, and suffering less casualties in so doing. You would find fewer numbers of flag draped coffins arriving at Dover AFB."

Hmmmm, let me think. A list of heterosexuals that "contribute to the inefficiency and dysfunctionality of any organization in which they are embedded". Should I start with the obvious - those tried for war crimes - or the apparently less obvious - those responsible for terrorism, whether foreign or domestic?

I'm not quite sure how "the spirit of moral and spiritual corruption that homosexuals bring with them everywhere they go" can really hurt an organization whose job is ultimately to kill people, and in some cases be willing to get killed themselves (as in the cartoon).

Funny how those who love to speak of what they believe is the toughest, greatest military force the planet has ever known somehow think that this same force still can't handle openly gay personnel. Sounds kind of insulting to dead and injured troops; "Well, it could have been worse--they could have been serving with opening gay service members."

Toles, great 'toon' again. Just proves the double standards we live by.

GoldenEagles, you clearly are homophobic.
In as much as you point a finger at one person (Bradley Manning), have you never heard the phrase, or song for that matter, 'one bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch...'
Would like to know if you have a problem with the female gender serving on the front lines as well. Perhaps it is YOU who have a problem. I doubt VERY much that 'hooking up' with you or any of your straight friends is on the minds of any gay or lesbian service people when they are fighting for their, not to mention your, life.
Maybe you can define "spirit" for me. I don't think our dictionaries match...
Perhaps you could also explain how,
~~~ they will accelerate and amplify the attributes of inefficiency and dysfunctionality. In a military and national security environment, this will lead to the death of more American soldiers, and to the damaging of American national security interests.~~~
Yeah...speaking of bs.
You may be 'straight there bigbird but I bet your sexual practices and desires are questionable....perhaps YOU shouldn't be allowed to serve because of your sexual 'impure' thoughts, practices and desires (bet you brag about 'em too)...give me a break.
That pretty much sums it up.
THANKS TOLES FOR SHOWING US
HOW TO TELL A BIG LIE IN THE
FORM OF A POLITICAL CARTOON.
Because of the spirit of moral and spiritual corruption that homosexuals bring with them everywhere they go, the truth is, that they contribute to the inefficiency and dysfunctionality of any organization in which they are embedded. When homosexuals are embedded in any military or national security organization, as the behavior of Private Bradley Manning illustrates, who is quickly becoming the most famous homosexual in military history, they will accelerate and amplify the attributes of inefficiency and dysfunctionality. In a military and national security environment, this will lead to the death of more American soldiers, and to the damaging of American national security interests. If you would remove all homosexuals from the military today, as Title 10, Section 654 requires, you would find that the efficiency and operational excellence go up in all categories. That pretty sums up Congress' attitude towards the young men and women in uniform. They do not mind putting them in harm's way, but John McCain wants no part of allowing them to be who their creator wanted them to be.
My Comment...
You have it backwards. God intended people to be what they are born as. People wanting to be something different than what they are intended to be can cause many complications.
People make choices and sometimes they are bad choices. Calling bad choices good choices is a good way to self-destruct.
We have to love the sinner but hate the sin. That is the way it is.
In the military it is necessary to have discipline and it is necessary that people discipline themselves to behave like what they are. We all fall short one way or another, and there is no reason homosexuals should not serve but it must not interfere with their performance or that of "straights".
I would be more concerned about soldiers getting killed needlessly because of wrong national objectives.
Dave
Have liberals finally come up with a way to take over the military? Just like liberals thought they could end poverty?
