Hotel Search SOS

Gary Lee

Need help figuring out a good hotel for a family reunion? Or want to compare the different prices offered on the Web for a room in the same hotel? Or to find a hotel meeting space good for a book club or other social group? In my research as a reporter covering hotels and other lodging venues, I have come across Web sites that assist with every imaginable hotel search or booking dilemma. Here are three helpful sites I have recently come across:

1. www.searchparty.com: This aggregator site allows you to see the rates offered at a hotel on up to eight different Internet sites. It's the only site we can find that adds up all the taxes and fees charged and allows you to compare exactly what you would pay on different sites.

2. www.groople.com: This site is great for those planning a reunion or gathering of a circle of friends who are traveling together. It recommends the best hotels for family reunions, college gatherings and so on.

3. www.worktopia.com: Let's say you're on the road and want to rent a room for a bunch of relatives or friends to come by and socialize. This is a good place to go to research the options for such a gathering.

Can anybody who has used these sites offer feedback? Or are there any other cool hotel sites out there you'd like to share?
