Ooh La La

Carol Sottili

Air France is launching new daytime flights from JFK to Paris beginning May 1, and is offering a very good sale fare on those flights.

The daily nonstop leaves New York at 7:50 a.m. (gets into Paris at 9 p.m.), so you'll either have to get up at 0-dark-30 to take a train/drive, or you'll need to stay over the night before departure (yes, I know that might very well eat up the savings, but lots of you have relatives in that area, right?). If you depart May 1-17, cost is $495 round trip including $97 taxes; if you depart May 18-June 15, add $200 to the round-trip fare. You can stay as long as 21 days, so if you can get away by May 17, you can return in June for the $495 fare.

Last day to buy is March 11, but this sale is getting lots of attention, and some days are already sold out. In other words, don't wait too long to buy. Details: www.airfrance.us, 800-237-2747. Price comparison: A nonstop flight from Washington to Paris during May/June starts at about $1,277 and a connecting flight starts at $925.
