What's New at U.S. Airports

Airport tidbits:

* Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is apparently now the country's first "Model Port," as designated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The idea is to combine continued safety measures with some welcoming features, such as multilingual signage and videos in an effort to increase the numbers of international visitors to the United States. According to a CBP press release, a similar program will be tried out at our very own Dulles International; right now it's set for May.

* T-Mobile Hotspot wireless service is now available throughout the terminals and public areas of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT).

* If you're flying through Chicago Midway or O'Hare now through April 27, you may be seeing green: It's the second annual "Month of Environment" at Chicago airports. Travelers can learn about area green intitiatives (and pick up tips) at about 20 kiosks in the airports, and kids can take (or download) activity books and information about the airport's recycling efforts.
