This Summer's Crowded Skies

Cindy Loose

You thought air travel couldn't get any worse? Ha. Record crowds are expected this summer, the Air Transport Association predicts -- up 3 percent over even last summer's hordes.

Frequent travelers will shudder to know that another study showed that 40 percent of Americans still don't know anything about the rules on carrying liquids and gels aboard. Guaranteed, it will at least seem like every one of them is in front of you in the airport security line.

Some tips that could help even the seasoned traveler were recently released by the National Air Traffic Controllers Association. Its Web site has all kinds of goodies, including the best time to fly out of specific airports, and the best airports to connect through.

Worth a look before heading out with the hordes who've got metal in their pockets and cases of booze in their carry-on bags.
