What's the Deal: Get Away From the Ice!

If you've put off planning that spring vacation, here are a couple of deals that could give you ideas.
* Virgin America is offering a "Why Leap When You Can Fly" sale. Price is $238 round trip plus about $21 taxes for nonstop flights from Washington Dulles to either Los Angeles (you may find cheaper fares on other airlines) or San Francisco (other airlines are charging at least $100 more). Deadline to buy is Feb. 22, and travel must be completed by May 21. Seven-day advance purchase required. Virgin America flights offer a cool inflight entertainment system: Each seat is equipped with a seatback video touchscreen, and passengers can choose among 25 movies, watch live TV, play video games, create a playlist from 3,000 MP3s, or order food from their screen.
* Disney has some cheap fares on its three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas. Price for several April departures of its three-night cruises from Port Canaveral, Fl., start at $499 per person double plus $37 taxes.
if you want a peek at this week's best deals, check out the Travel page later in the afternoon when the What's the Deal? column is posted.

Is Virgin America having a problem? They were initially promoted as an airline with extra services, but now they are throwing away their tickets rock bottom prices. Are they having a tough time selling tickets?
