The Friday Photo: A Sweet Tweet
Friday already? You bet. And that means it's time to unveil this week's Friday Photo and the winner of the Travel tote bag. Drumroll please....

Congratulations to Anita Bright of Alexandria, who sent us this interesting shot taken during a recent visit to Africa. We wondered what the deal was with all those birds in the cage. And then we read Anita's note:
"A few weeks ago (early March), I visited Dakar, Senegal, to deliver my first-ever keynote speech at a conference for teachers of English. The day before the conference, a Senegalese colleague and I stopped at a produce stand and were approached by the young man in this photo, bearing a wooden crate holding dozens of live, twittering birds. Being vegetarian, I nervously asked, "Are these birds for sale as pets, or for eating?" It turns out they were "make-a-wish" birds! For about twelve cents, you could purchase a bird, make a wish, and set it free! Needless to say, we purchased a few and made multiple wishes. And several birds made hasty escapes while their cage door was open, too -- surely fulfilling their wishes!"
Thanks for the chuckle, and the great shot.
Now it's your turn. Some guidelines:
1. Email ONE photo per week to us travel@washpost.com. Put "Friday Photo" in the subject field, and include your name, address and phone number.
2. Write a paragraph like the one above explaining what's going on in the picture, when you took it and why it's significant to you.
3. Photos should be from a recent trip, voyage, getaway . . whatever you want to call it. But try to keep it within the last month or two or three.
4. Winners will receive a Travel totebag; allow four to six weeks for delivery. Winning entries are subject to editing. Employees of The Post and their immediate families are not eligible. No purchase necessary.
