Act Now: New Airfare Deals

Carol Sottili

Two airlines today announced three-day sales that will end Thurs., Nov. 13.

Southwest has launched a system-wide Web-only sale for travel Dec. 2-Feb. 11. For example, fly round trip from BWI to Salt Lake City for $239, including taxes. A 21-day advance purchase is required, and the lowest fares apply to Monday-Thursday and Saturday travel. Seats are limited, and some dates are sold out, especially between Dec. 20 and Jan. 4. Try other airlines if Southwest's flights are sold out on your dates, as some are matching in select markets. The sale does not apply to Southwest's flights out of Dulles.

If you're planning to fly across the pond, British Airways has sale fares to 19 cities, including London, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Rome. Fare from Dulles to London, for example, is $556 round trip, including taxes and fuel surcharge (get an extra $20 discount if you register online). Fares to other cities cost $60 to $100 more. Also, the airline has 15 percent discounts on hotels, car rentals, airport transfers and sightseeing tours. Travel is valid Nov. 18-Dec. 17 and Dec. 24-March 22; cheapest fares apply to Monday-Wednesday flights. Seven-day advance is required.
