Thanksgiving, Inauguration and You

Here are a few items I've come across this morning:
* Southwest is adding new flights for Inauguration weekend. Guess your sister didn't need to buy her tickets the minute CNN called Virginia on Nov. 4 after all.
* In other Inauguration news, the L.A. Times cautions travelers to buy Metro tickets now to avoid long lines at ticket kiosks the day-of. Anyone who's been stuck with a 65-cent farecard on July 4 knows the value of planning ahead.
* Tripso's Janice Hough lists seven tips for traveling with family for the holidays.
* In case you missed Sunday's Q&A about holiday packing, peruse the TSA's new page on what you can and can't bring on the airplane.

I have an offer of a place to crash in town for the Inauguration, am I completely insane to consider taking my friend up on her kind offer? I'm a recovering political science major but certainly no wonk, and I'm definitely not a huge fan of crowds. Without a ticket to see the action up close, should I make the trip?
