Latest Lists: Beer Bars, Best Beds ... and Bedbugs

Right in the middle of our wintry weather come those things that warm the hearts of travelers -- "Best of" lists!
For beer lovers, Draft magazine's Best Beer Bars in America list features more than 200 bars across the U.S. Tripadvisor has a two-fer, both its Travelers' Choice 2009 awards, honoring the world's best bargain, romantic, family-friendly and luxury sleeps, as well as the worst: its Dirtiest Hotels 2009 list. While Draft's picks were made by the mag's discerning staffers (plus some reader picks), TripAdvisor's lists are entirely based on reader reviews.
The D.C. area is represented on two of the lists, Best Beer Bars and Travelers' Choice, leaving New York to claim the largest share of the Dirtiest Hotels honors (#1, #3 and #9).
Yeesh. Now, if you can stop scratching your imaginary bedbug bites, take a gander at the local spots picked by Draft Magazine for their beer selection, great service, food, games and live music:
Birreria at Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown
Brasserie Beck in Mt. Vernon Square
The Brewer's Art in Baltimore
The Brickskeller in Dupont Circle
Granville Moore's in the Atlas district
Rustico in Alexandria
The Saloon on U Street
Sean Bolan's in Bel Air
Capital Ale House in Richmond.
Does anyone out there feel like his or her favorite beer bar got short shrift?
As for hotels, local businesses nabbed a few bests:
In the Best for Families category, Homewood Suites Harrisburg East-Hershey Area in Harrisburg was #6; Embassy Suites Hotel Washington D.C. in West End is #9 and Francis Scott Key Family Motel in Ocean City clinched #10.
Virginia got the most mentions of any state in the Best Inns & B&Bs category: Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast in Luray is #5, Foxfield Inn in Charlottesville is #7 and the Inn at Vaucluse Spring in Stephens City (near Winchester) is #10.
So, does anyone have quibbles with the Travelers' Choice 2009 picks? Pipe up and let your voice be heard!
