The West Wing Creeps Toward Emmy History

Alan Alda just won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, for his work on NBC's "The West Wing." Last weekend, the series picked up its 25th Emmy during the non-televised part of the trophy handout. With Alda's win, the show is tied with the record-holding "Hill Street Blues" for the most Emmys ever for a drama series -- a record "The West Wing" can break tonight if Allison Janney wins yet another Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series. (Janney--who was considered the front-runner in her category based on the strength of the episode she submitted--would later lose the Mariska Hargitay.)
