Kate Gosselin Sloughs Off Kathy Griffin on "The View"

Despite the carefully choreographed pairing of guest-host Kate-Gosselin and Gosselin-mocking comic Kathy Griffin on Friday's ABC's "The View" the episode was not without its fireworks.

Media-savvy Gosselin did not rise to the bait when Griffin came out, even though she had been the butt of a video Griffin unveiled on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel-hosted late night show, in which Griffin played Gosselin.

Griffin, who understood her role on the Friday broadcast, then tried desperately to get a rise out of Gosselin by suggesting they should do a "lesbo nude" Playboy spread.
No dice.

Too bad.

This not to say the show lacked fireworks. At the top of the show, The Ladies of "The View" asked TLC-network star Gosselin about an article in the most recent issue of In Touch mag in which one of the family babysitters claims to have shagged Kate's estranged hubby and father of their eight kids, Jon.

Turns out, this is the babysitter Jon had "hired" the day Kate showed up at the house, cops were called, Kate left in tears when the cops told her to clear out because it wasn't her day with the kids. At the time, the tabs, celebrity suck-up-shows, and TMZ-s of the world reported Kate had been all knicker-knotted about Jon's choice of babysitters.
After reading the In Touch piece, we kinda get her point.

"So, it was HIS custody day and you heard he was hiring a babysitter that you didn't approve of, so you went over there?" snapped Whoopi Goldberg, who apparently does not read In Touch, silly woman.

"Well - I - he had used her before, and I - again, my alarms and whistles went off and I didn't quite know why....and for whatever reason, he used this girl again, he called her to babysit," Gosselin stammered.

"We know what the reason is," cracked co-host Joy Behar, who is apparently the best-read of the "View" co-hosts.

But it did not end there. Things escalated to the point where Whoopi exploded: "You could have gone to jail! Do you realize that?"

Fortunately, Behar finally cleared things up: "But the beauty of the story is he was winning PR wars... because people were talking about you, that you were shrewish...but now, you are winning the PR wars because of this story about the babysitter, and also coming on the show and being sweet."

Nice save, Joy!

I don't read In Touch but Kate's story & explantion made total sense to me right out of the box....I saw the episode and was wondering why oh why Whoppi seemingly did not understand the issue and kept going on about it. But, then again, I think she often has an attitude of well, I don't get it & that's all that matters b/c I am a lot smarter than the rest of you. Seeing Kathy Griffin today reminded me of what a hoot she is and how she'd been in the running for a spot at the tab;e....she would have been great - I just don't find Whoopi too engaging.

This supposed "super Mom" doesn't hear alarms and whistle about the way this show is destroying her family?

Those precious children have had their lives paraded on TV and tabloids because their mother is a greedy shrew in search of fame and fortune.

The Berks county police were kind to her and let her go to a local hotel (she has no friends left). Whoopi was correct - she could have been arrested.

Someday the kids will look back and realize what an incredible woman they have for a mom. Fathers who cheat on their wives are cheating on their families. Life is tough enough when the person who is suppossed to care about you the most treating you the worst. It is beyond terrible when that person is your own father.

Sadly, the Gosselin children got a double dose of idiot parents. They have 5 seasons of DVDs to watch their "mother" belittle and disparage their father.

I was shocked he waited this long to run around on her.
