Paula Abdul Does Ellen on Vh1's "Divas"

America's Sweetheart Paula Abdul hosted the triumphant return of VH1's "Divas" after its five-year breather, mostly so that Vh1 could mock Fox's "American Idol" on which, of course, Paula used to play the role of Whacky Den Mother Judge.

She opened the show with "I'm Paula Abdul, and this is not American Idol!" Haha.

She danced next to a screen that was filled with snap of MC Skat Cat -- until it turned into a picture of "Idol" judge/Paula crush Simon Cowell. Ha.

She pretended to be Ellen DeGeneres, who's replacing her as judge on "Idol" when it returns in January, dancing down to a talkshow-ish set dressed in blonde mop wig, black jacket, grey vest black pants and black sneakers.

"Why are you all staring at me? Can't a girl try out for a new job?" Abdul joked shrilly -- yes, it can be done.

Vh1 boasted this year's "Divas" would feature Miley Cyrus, Adele, and a boatload of former Idolettes including Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks and Leona Lewis (UK version). It also featured Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow, and Melissa Etheridge, but Vh1 didn't talk so much about them because they're -- shhhhh! -- older.
