Macy's Parade-Snubbed "Glee" Creator Kicks Jay Leno
We wrote about how Macy's withdrew its offer to feature the cast of "Glee" performing at its annual Thanksgiving Day parade after NBC pointed out to the Macy's people, who apparently don't watch much television, that "Glee" is a Fox series, and that mired-in-fourth-place NBC isn't in the business of coughing up a few million bucks for exclusive broadcast rights to the parade so that Macy's can promote a struggling series on another network.
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy, surprisingly, took it hard that his little band of professional actors pretending to be high school misfits won't get to lip synch and dance in front of Macy's flagship store on Thanksgiving morning: "I completely understand NBC's position, and look forward to seeing a Jay Leno float," he snarked to Entertainment Weekly when called for comment.
