Levi teases when "Insider" begs for Palin dirt
*Syndicated celebrity suck-up show "The Insider" continued its new format in which a panel of celebrity talkers grills some dumb cluck in the news.
A couple weeks ago, the show snagged Jon Gosselin, who got disemboweled by CNN talking head Nancy Grace. Good times.
This week, the Big Get is Levi Johnston, aka Sarah Palin's grandbaby-Daddy. Guest grillers include comic Kathy Griffin and former "The View" star, um, Star Jones.
Johnston's been on a tear lately, telling most anyone who will listen that he's got a lot of dirt on the former Alaska Governor, which he's willing to share.
"Can Levi Johnston destroy Sarah Palin's career?" "Insider" correspondent Chris Jacobs faux-wonders at the top of the show.
"Levi is ready to answer all the questions" says host Lara Spencer, introducing Johnston as "the young man who may be trying to take down the woman some way wants to be our next president."
Griffin kicks things off, wondering if Palin ever cried in front of Johnston.
"When I told her, you know, Bristol is pregnant and stuff," he responds.
Within minutes, they are all on a first-name basis. Which is to say they're all calling Palin "Sarah." As in:
"Do you feel Sarah ever abused her power as governor of Alaska?" That's Jacobs.
"Maybe," Johnston says, uncertainly.
"In what way?" Jacobs presses.
"I'm not really going to talk about it," Johnston responds coyly. This interview is shaping up as a colossal bust.
"Is it the kind of abuse that would end a political career?" Spencer continues, not yet willing to throw in the towel.
"Maybe," Johnston says, like a senator refusing to speak without advice of counsel.
"What else do you know about the family that might shock us?" Spencer begs to be told.
"A few things," Johnston says, adding he does not know whether these "things" will ever "come out."
Just as we're thinking of switching over to "Wheel of Fortune" Jacobs asks Johnston:
"Did Sarah ever make any sexual advances towards you?"
We'll take a minute here, to let you re-gain control of your gag reflex.
"No," Johnston -- who, to recap, was nearly Palin's son-in-law and is the father of Palin's daughter's child -- responds. Thank god.
"Is Trig, Sarah's baby?" Jacobs wonders. "There was a lot of issues because she never appeared pregnant; she traveled very close to giving birth, she never told any of her advises she was pregnant."
"As far as I know, yeah," Johnston responds uncomfortably, like a guy for whom things have gotten a little too skeevy, even for him.
"Conversely, is it Todd's baby? Is Todd absolutely the father of Trig?" Jacobs wonders, in re Palin's husband.
"I think so, yeah... I have never heard anything about Sarah cheating," Johnston responds, timidly.
Time to reveal the results of the day's online poll: Do you believe Levi Johnston?
"Forty-six percent said you are very believable, but 54 percent don't feel that you can be trusted 100 percent -- 'The Insider' viewers have spoken!" Spencer tells Johnston.
"That's very close results," Jacobs says sadly. Then, putting on his Happy Face, he continues:
"But, what will you guys think about picks for Best and Worst Celebrity of the Day! That's next!"
"And, I'm going to strip someone down," Griffin promises.
"It better not be me" warns Johnston.
