See Bristol Palin on "Secret Life of the American Teenager"
Bristol Palin will make her Hollywood acting debut on Monday, July 5, ABC Family announced Wednesday.
Bristol, the 19-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, has been busy starring in PSAs promoting teen abstinence, but in between found time to shoot an episode of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," writes WaPo Team TV's "Secret Life of the American Teenager" correspondent Emily Yahr.
Bristol plays herself in the episode of the hit scripted drama, which chronicles 15-year-old Amy's (Shailene Woodley) unplanned pregnancy. The July 5 episode finds Amy at a music camp for teen moms, where she befriends Bristol.
"When ABC Family originally announced that the eldest Palin daughter would guest-star on the show, it raised questions as to how her mom would take the news," Yahr writes.
"Sarah Palin hasn't been the biggest fan of "Hollywood" types -- remember her public outrage at David Letterman's crack about her younger daughter, Willow? And how about her response to the 'Family Guy' episode that featured a character with Down syndrome whose Mom is the former governor of Alaska. (Palin's baby son, Trig, has the same condition.)"
Anyway, Palin may not have much to worry about, Yahr writes:
"We could describe the zombie-like way her eyes glaze over during the line, 'We're. All. Teen. Moms.' And her delivery of a joke (we think) that Amy is 'the world's greatest French horn player, and I'm YoYo Ma' -- seems to even confuse Woodley in the scene.
But it's much more fun to watch for yourself."
