Salahis accuse Whoopi of "abuse" on 'The View'

On the eve of Michaele Salahi's debut on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of DC" -- and five days after her husband, Tareq Salahi threw a glass of wine at another cast member while the housewives were attending Summer TV Press Tour to promote their new show -- America's favorite alleged White House party crashers have accused Whoopi Goldberg of verbally attacking, and abusing Michaele on ABC's "The View."

It all started Wednesday when "The View," brought out "The Real Housewives of DC" to talk about their show, which debuts Thursday night.

"The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd, addressing Michaele, noted Tareq "was supposed to be here, but apparently something happened that made the women feel a little bit uncomfortable being around your husband. What happened?"

Michaele explained that, in the past cast mate Lynda Erkiletian has teased her about being too thin.

At that point it gets complicated:

Sherri says Lynda should tell the story since "it happened to Lynda."

Lynda said she was the one "accosted with the red wine."

Michaele protests, insisting the question had been addressed to her.

"The View" co-host Joy Behar tells them to "save it for your show."

Sherri weighs in, in favor of Lynda telling the story, since she was on the receiving end of the wine toss.

Joy seconds the motion.

Lynda says she was sitting at a table (Friday at the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel where Summer TV Press Tour 2010 is happening) and Tareq was being "verbally abusive to two women sitting at our table" and "I just basically said, 'Can you keep it down?'," after which, she says, Tareq "threw a glass of red wine on me."

Michaele says Lynda then threw a glass of scotch back, "so there was wine, scotch...."

Sherri asks "who threw the wine first." Sherri is clearly having trouble keeping up.

"It was the anorexic - beauty comes in all sizes," says Michaele. Seriously. We don't need to make this stuff up.

"What does that have to do with him abusing women," Lynda snaps.

"Because you've been abusing me. You're a woman," Michaele shouts.

"That gives him the right to abuse other women?!" Lynda asks, rhetorically.

At this point Whoopi, who had not been part of the gaggle, walks out on stage, touches Michaele - who is sitting at the far right end of the sofa -- on the small of her back and her arm to get her attention, and says, "Excuse me, can you get back to the White House please?" The camera cuts over to show Whoopi turning and walking back off stage.

"I want to go forward," Sherri says, a little flustered.

"Yeah, I felt someone touch me," Michaele says.

At some point after "The View" appearance, someone threw this statement in Whoopi's face via Michaele's Facebook page:

Salahis will address on Thursday Morning LIVE on National TV the outrageous abuse and exchange that took place on the ABC Show the View and a audio & video file from Whoopi Goldberg verbal attack to Michaele. Standby for details...

ABC's "The View" threw back with this statement, like a glass of scotch, at the Salahis:

At one point during Michaele Salahi's appearance on 'The View' on Wednesday, Whoopi lightly touched Ms. Salahi to get her attention and said to her "Excuse me, can you get back to the White House, please," meaning could Ms. Salahi return to the original subject of the conversation. After the show, Ms. Salahi and her husband accused Whoopi of hitting Ms. Salahi. As the broadcast clearly shows, the accusation was completely unfounded and erroneous. After the show and after being told she was being accused of hitting Ms. Salahi, Whoopi proceeded to defend herself verbally from this baseless claim in a heated exchange with the Salahi's.

Michaele Salahi and the other housewives are booked, but not Tareq, to appear on NBC's "Today" show Thursday morning to plug the debut of the latest iteration of "Real Housewives" Thursday night.

Tareq had not been invited on the NBC morning infotainment show, as of the time of filing this post. NBC and "Housewives" home Bravo are both owned by NBC Universal.

And Bravo is staying as far away from this as possible, declining to comment.

I have never watch the so-called reality shows, and won't start now and this story shows you why. When will this reality silliness be over?

Salahiz thought everyone would love them with more air time.... he he... The opposite is true. After all, NOONE loves baby killers.

This woman is believable! Once again playing the victim. They say they have evidence to clear their name but all they have is a bunch of string they hand out in their tireless self-promotion. Man I wish they would get prosecuted.

Once in a while I catch a glimse of the View since it preceeds the 11AM news in my area. Has anyone told Whoopi that she is already very hard on the eyes, and she tries to dress worst than a witch. Oh, why couldn't every one of these women be as easy on the eye as Elizabeth!

@maitami.....It's a good thing Elizabeth is easy on the eyes, because she's hard on the nerves......

Why did the black woman have to run out from back stage to assault a white woman?

Why did the black woman go off on an F F F tirade?

Will obama say she "acted stupidly"?

This pair of people (I don't even want to bother to figure out how to spell the names of the Sahaylees), this couple is showing the networks they know how to draw an audience. As absurd as they sound, this behavior is already prevalent in part of our society, called the playground.

Remember how much fun we had on the playground. Of course you do - you are reading this aren't you?

shomudro, as you can see, this isn't what maitami said. Whoopi always wears very large black clothing to cover her ugly, fat body. There is nothing about race here.

Elizabeth is the smartest one on there. Quit playing the race card. It's getting real old.

This isn't about what Whoopie wears or what she looks like. She happens to be an intelligent, accomplished woman. This is about the Salahis and their behavior and constant seeking of attention. They've had more than their 15 mins of fame and should be kept off TV and in articles by the print media. They are annoying parasites that if they were mosquitoes that landed on my arm, I'd smack them out of existence. A-effing-men.

What would possess The View to host someone like Salahi, who has made a life of desperately grubbing for attention? The appearance by obama was not much better -- and he should know that appearing on a fluff show demeans the office of the Presidency.

All calculated to drive ratings and incite the mindless masses who still believe in the new television influenced definition of reality.

About the only thing more prevalent than the cast of Bravo's latest spin of the Housewives franchise is fungus. These women were everywhere this week, primarily on the many and growing outlets for NBC Universal's cable empire.

Michaele is a publicity hound who is perfect fodder for a series and theme which emphasizes appearance and contrived drama over any degree of substance. About the only thing real about the real housewives from wherever is the increasing advertising rates BRAVO can charge for increased ratings.

And, we wonder why the rest of the world sees us through a glass darkly? Between the Real Housewives and The Jersey Shore
we appear to be a society and nation fixated on crass appearance, money, sex and non-stop socializing in either "the best" restaurants or the deepest dives.

On the other hand, maybe that is whom we have become and these are reality shows in the true sense of that word.

I have to fall back on the words of the incredible John D. MacDonald. I am going to misquote, because it's from memory, but the Salahis "deserve to be driven from the scene by great braying hoots of derisive laughter."

Enough about these sleazebags already.

Regardless of what Whoopi wears, Joy made a comment about how expensive the clothes and shoes Whoopi wears are. My husband showed me a shop in NYC that carries one of a kind items and he said that Whoopi shops there all the time. She doesn't have to be pretentious and wears what makes her feel comfortable. The clothes that the other View hosts wear look cheap (except Barbara). And Joy and Elisabeth wear the same shoes over and over. Elisabeth's clothes are sold on QVC and are very cheap. One of Whoop's linen vests or dusters probably cost the same as Elisabeths's entire wardrobe. NY and Hollywood have different dress standards than the rest of the country shopping at Walmart or Macy's.

I totally agree with you. Their azzs should be in jail for crashing into the white house dinner party okay!! I grew up in DC and don't have any idea whom these people are. BRAVO needs to have their producers heads examined. If the behavior they showed on "The View" is what is anticipated for the show...sorry to bust their faces but no one is really going to watch this useless crap. JMO

I watched The View yesterday and it was the first time I listened to Michaele Salahi for any length of time -- it didn't take long for me to decide that I didn't like her, as much as one can dislike a person they don't know. I thought the whole gate crashing thing was overblown, btw.

Hard to believe that nonsense like this makes it into a national newspaper when we've got very serious problems on our hands. Instead of paying attention to such idiocy we should be focusing on the bedrock fundamentals of a strong economy, a strong and competent government, and a strong defense. This is just crazy. Pardon me for even reading-some of it anyway. The View and others like it as well as the reality shows are circuses peopled by clowns with people like Oprah Windbag, Jerry whatever, Povich, etc. being the ringleaders of the freak shows.
