Bristol Palin's "Dancing with the Stars" debut plans

Bristol Palin: Queen of Double Entendre.

No, that's not a dance step -- but it is how Bristol continues to make news even before taking a single step on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," which debuts Monday night.

"Dancing With the Stars" cast for Season 11. (ABC)

Each of the 12 couples competing in this edition was told to come up with a "team" name.

Strangely, Bristol and her partner Mark Ballas did not go with the obvious Team Absti-dance.

Instead, you will please refer to them as:

Team Ballin'.

Which, we should hasten to add, is a Speidi-esque name mash-up. Though, of course, they could have gone with Team Brismark.

[FYI, David Hasselhoff and professional dance partner Kym Johnson, who are one of 12 dance teams competing this fall on the hit ABC reality show, came up with: Team DanceHoff.]

The pressure is really on America's Most Famous Unwed Teen Mom -- she's the most buzzed about "Dancing" celebrity of the show's fall season. ABC hopes she will measure up to America's Most Put Upon Mom, Kate Gosselin, who last year attracted more than 24 million viewers -- the show's biggest opening crowd ever and ABC's biggest audience in the time slot in 10 years - when she waltzed to the tune "She's Always a Woman to Me" while dressed as Barbara Eden from "I Dream of Jeannie."

This year's 12 dance couples also had the option of performing a waltz their first week out, or the Cha Cha. Team Ballin' wisely decided not to waltz and invite comparison with Kate - Bristol says she's no dancer, but could she actually be worse than Kate who, in the course of her competition, set the Web ablaze with video grabs of her interpretation of Boris Karloff doing a paso double to Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi"?

So, Monday night, Team Ballin' is going to Cha Cha.

Their tune? According to knowledgeable insider sources: "Mama Told Me Not to Come."

Da dum dum.

And yes, Sarah Palin is expected to be in the audience.

And, in re Bristol's Modest Costume vow, she plans to start things off very buttoned-up Monday night, but will tear away that get-up off during her performance to reveal -- a still modest-ish dance outfit.

Team Ballin' -- tearing up the dance floor on Night 1 of "Dancing with the Stars."

Washington Dame's real name is Karma? Karma Miranda? I'll bet she'd like her fruit to descend upon Lisa.

The entire Palin family: Famous for being famous. I'd like to raise their taxes.

Posted by: BlueTwo1 | September 20, 2010 3:08 PM | Report abuse

Let us hope Bristol doesn't get knocked up by the Situtation. That would be quite the boondoggle.

Posted by: jake555 | September 20, 2010 3:11 PM | Report abuse

I'd like to raise their taxes, too ... to, like, 1945 levels. That'll teach their ahss.

Is this story really worth reporting? Do you really consider this news?

If Bristol Palin was African American, would she be apart of this artical?...I don't think so!

White people and their double standards!

Posted by: Apples1 | September 20, 2010 3:24 PM | Report abuse

It's no wonder why I don't watch Dancing With the Stars because they keep putting people who don't belong on the show.

My prediction:
Bristol will be the first in line to be booted out.

I didnt even read this article, I saw it as a flagship article for the days news and scrolled quickly to the bottom to share how upset I with the Washington Post. Really? this is a headline? Come on you are just feeding into this crap. You are helping her reach star status by acting as if this is something everyone needs red flags about to be sure that they know its on tonight. Who cares? I am a huge fan of this paper but sometimes you are no better than tabloids like People and OK!

what are this brain-dead cretins qualifications? Oh yea, she got knocked up at 17 and her mom is famous for being stupid.

Little wonder that America is going to the dogs. This is the best we can do??

If the little trollop doesn't want to get made fun of, she should stay out of the media. I thought the press should leave her alone until she decided that she wanted her 15 minutes of fame. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

The Washington Post is a profit-maximizing entity. Of course they are going to report on this because it draws readers.

Posted by: Aerowaz | September 20, 2010 3:45 PM | Report abuse

WHY is this getting WaPo coverage?

Posted by: whocares666 | September 20, 2010 3:46 PM | Report abuse

Bristol will be dancing to Momma Told Me [Not To Come]. The irony is just too thick here.

OTOH maybe Lisa's snark is the karmic reaction to the Palin family's relentless money-grubbing and limelight-grabbing crassness. What has this young woman ever done to warrant anyone's attention? She is well known for being well known, and she has decided to cash in at every opportunity.

Funny how hypocrital the lefties are....Oh it's ok to make fun of the Palin and Bush daughters but don't you dare make fun of the Obama daughters or you're all racists!!!!!!

Posted by: crazydude | September 20, 2010 4:15 PM | Report abuse

crazydude, the Bush twins were college students, and Bristol was already pregnant. When Obama ran for President his daughters were still little girls. All the difference.

Posted by: Nosy_Parker | September 20, 2010 4:24 PM | Report abuse

Just another in a long line of snarky written articles the Palin family endures. Its getting old. Its getting tiring.

Posted by: bassinapple | September 20, 2010 4:26 PM | Report abuse

Let's see: the "Dancing With The Stars" producers have concocted the mash-up nickname "Team Ballin" for Mark and Bristol, then assigned them the song "Mama Told Me Not To Come," and some poster here thinks POOKIE's the one being snarky? Really? That honor goes to the DWTS production staff!!!

The Divine Ms. de Moraes has exercised nothing less than superhuman restraint in resisting the temptation to snark much.

I also find it telling that reportedly Mama Grizzly will be in the audience tonight. If she had more faith in her grandson's Baby Mama, she'd have waited till closer to election day, in hopes it would do the candidates she's supporting more good. So I'd say Sarah's presence tonight augurs poorly for Bristol's prospects. Byr she can always commiserate with Tucker Carlson, I suppose.

After all, she's cute, she's funny, she's a Bimbo!!!

Washington Post drivel. From Watergate to Mama Grizzly, breathtaking in its scope, ain't it WP ?

Posted by: rbe1 | September 20, 2010 4:37 PM | Report abuse

I'm predicting a Bristol Palin win.

Why, because she's young, energetic, and she wants to get back at Levy for doing that music video.

Posted by: lindalovejones | September 20, 2010 4:42 PM | Report abuse

Apples 1 -- You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. This article is making fun of Bristol, not praising her.
But you're right about the double standard-- if she were black this story wouldn't have been written. The writer wouldn't have dared ridicule her like that.

Leave her alone. Your micro-management through crude journalism of Bristol is unbecoming, inappropriate, and reflective of your poor choice of "news".

What is truely funny is this will only make the Palins more likable. No matter what you say, when you attack honest Americans, you come off as jealous harpies. Too funny!

Bristol loves those bad boys. They can toss her around like a day old animal carcass. She can make her momma proud, and earn some cold viddles on the side. That's what Sarah has taught her; the values of the catfish.

As Bristol Palin makes her mark as a celebrity who is taking care of her baby?
The Palins like to trot out their babies when it serves their purposes for fame and fortune, but who takes care of them while they bathe in the limelight?

Posted by: logcabin1836 | September 20, 2010 6:28 PM | Report abuse

wow, bristol palin on a dance show dancing on a team called "ballin". what else am i to think other than she got where she was because she was ballin her boyfriend and had a baby. this only reinforces the image that she, her mother and the rest of the looney tunes brady bunch are just money seeking publicity hounds. what a way to milk the system.

Posted by: glenknowles | September 20, 2010 6:28 PM | Report abuse

When Palin is eliminated Sara can bitterly complain about how big media used and abused her children once again. Meanwhile, it's one more media check to bank on. So annoying.

POSTER TEENAGE SINGLE MOTHER is Bristol Palin

Dancing with the Stars ad makes Bristol a celebrity/famous for being a teenage mom. Looks like teen girls can now have kids and become rich and famous. At lease we know what the Republican Christian Family Values we should have our children follow.

Posted by: qqbDEyZW | September 20, 2010 7:32 PM | Report abuse

Poor Bristol needs this. She's no where near as good looking as her mother and obviously not as smart since she couldn't get a baby daddy who works or would marry her.

I hope she dances better than Mama Grizz answers reporters questions...

____________

Wait, when was the last time I saw the Obama daughters on the speaking circuit? Uhhh, never. When was the last time they got knocked up and paraded at a rally? Uhhhh, never. When was the last time they participated in a sleazy and silly TV dance program? Uhhhh, that would be never.

Ms. Ballin' is fair game. She's a grown up and is pimping for publicity. If she wanted privacy she'd be in college getting a degree in something other than being famous for being unable to keep her legs closed. When the Obama girls follow suit I'll be right there doggin' em.

I'm not racist and I'm not crazy. How 'bout you dude?

Posted by: arancia12 | September 20, 2010 7:55 PM | Report abuse

I thought she was great! Good legs, good feet movement, and she followed her partner. Based on the rehearsal preview, she had us fooled at first about her ability to let loose on the dance floor. But she pretty much nailed it.

It's much more like "hypocritical RIGHTIES!" Nobody is as hypocritical as Sarah Palin and her daughter, Bristol, BOTH claiming and PRETENDING to be Christians and never demonstrating ANY Christian values at all!! And the Bush twins took right after their Daddy in their druggie use and arrest. Daddy is the only President we have ever had who was convicted of drunken driving, besides having a history of being a druggie. And on and on and on! Obama's little girls haven't done anything stupid enough to make fun of, but go ahead, show your macho and pick on little children!

Stiff and clunky....wasn't the worst I've seen, but definitely not good. There is alot of talent on the show this season, but Bristol is most certainly not one of the talented ones. And what exactly was it that made her a "celebrity"?

Personally, I believe that we should leave the kids alone. She is only 18, so why blast her. Bristol isn't a public figure. Her mother is a political and as such is a public figure who is open to criticism for what she does or doesn't do. Leave their kids alone. Bristol had a baby at 17, how many other 17 year old has had a baby at 17, does this make her different, Who of us to say that she isn't a Christian.
