Comedy Central to cover Washington rallies Oct. 30

Can't make it to Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity on the Mall, or Stephen Colbert's March to Keep Fear Alive on Oct. 30 because you'll be too busy fortifying your house for the Halloween mob scene the next night?

Comedy Central will air both events on Oct. 30. (Comedy Central)

Comedy Central announced it's got you covered, even if the cable news networks won't that afternoon. Here's the cable network's announcement about plans to cover its on-air talents' clambakes:

In keeping with a commitment to return to all things reasonable, Jon Stewart has announced that on October 30th his Rally to Restore Sanity and Stephen Colbert's March to Keep Fear Alive will be broadcast live on Comedy Central and streamed live online.

If you're making the trip to D.C., Tuesday night's episode laid down some ground rules. No nudity. No throwing stuff. No fascism. All of which, Jon says, boil down to the very basic "when in doubt, don't be douchey."

But if a busy Halloween weekend means you can't join the level-headed masses on the National Mall between 3rd Street and 7th Street, basic cable and the Internet have you covered.

"Betcha' there will be more honest information and civility than the Beck brohaha!"

I agree -- this is obvious.

I'm there. My brother's there. Many of my friends are there. Keep Fear Alive! Should be Fox's new slogan. Or how 'bout: "Keeping white people scared since November, 2008".

Seattle is already the largest Rally To Restore Freedom in the US after DC.

Plus, since we're way more sensible, we can watch the DC event while eating pancakes and bacon with our morning coffee on the TV, then hop on the light rail to Westlake Mall in downtown Seattle, and put in a little bit of shopping or a movie or two afterwards.

Bonus points: there are many coffee shops within walking distance and even a monorail!
